LOL, I just got my first Sprey rod, or stitch. I managed to catch a bull trout on the deschutes river. I fished all day, and I can still lift both arms above my head. This is something new.
I've heard of trout setting the hook before.....never seen that technique exactly. Love the explanation of the switch rods definitely going to look into them!
Man i know that feeling all to well my friend. Last year on our annual march Smokehole Wv trip i wasnt 15 minutes into our first day of fishing and i lost my footing in some thigh high fast water and away i went like a bobber in the current. Took me down stream about 15' before i could get my feet dug into the bottom and get myself back standing. Thank god i had the cuffs and waist drawn tight on my simms wading jacket so very little water got in but talk about sucking the life outta you both physically and mentality in an instance 🥶😵💫
Its not if its when!!!! Just this morning I text 2 friends to see how their duck hunt is going...3 went hunting 2 got limits and 1 face planted in the pond at 5 am and 38°...cant wait to see part 2....awesome video so far.
I may have a warp in my personality but that may have been the best how to video that I have watched. I feel like you are friend because I laughed the way that I would have laughed at a friend or they would have laughed at me, once you / they / I knew you were ok, which was kind of obvious in that soft water. The stack mend demo was great too. As much as you obviously like butter I'm suprised you don't weigh 40 pounds more. Thanks.
Man that ending leaves us hanging! 😮💦😂. Butter is slippery! I fell for the first time in years last week. Not too much water got in..but then I’m in Texas, air temp was 70s, just kinda cooled me off.🙂 Tomorrow’s high in the 30s, would be much different story! Thanks MRO! 👍👍🎣
One cold December afternoon, several years ago, while nymphing on the Mad, in order to get a better angle on a small run, I made a plan to cross the main river, turn left, cross a feeder creek, and then come at the run from the opposite side. Anyway, I made it across the main river without issue, and the narrow creek appeared to be bone dry. Without even a thought to the contrary, I casually stepped off the bank and onto what I thought was a bed of dead leaves and WHOOSH, I was suddenly in over my head. I floated right out of my neoprenes, grabbed some roots, and pulled myself up the bank and back onto dry land. I was so mad and embarrassed - despite being totally alone - that I flung my wet sweatshirt and tee shirt into the woods and walked back to my car wearing only my soaking wool socks and my boxer-briefs (in full public view) dragging my waders behind me. All I can say is, Thank God for heated seats.
`First time i went steelhead fishing we were getting ready to cross in pretty heavy current. I asked the old timer I was with if he ever fell in. He said "You don't fall in. You sit down..."
In the next episode we see if Brian can keep it together and land the fish or if the freezing water is to much to handle. Really hope they had a change of clothes handy in all seriousness.
It looks like Vision Hybrid fly line, however I suppose that it is an illusion, that you are using European stuff in US. Greetings from Czech Republic. Thank you for what you are doing for us guys!
That feeling of when you lean too far back in a chair and start to tip over then realize there is no saving it............ I hope you didnt swallow too much river water Brian!
Pay backs for “stitch” and “spray”? I bet you sprayed water all over the place when you came up outta that freezing water! And your buddy was in stitches!
Oops, Brian laughed to loud at the viral video request….. Karma can be a bitch, or maybe the Brian’s dip was before the comment and Karma has yet to occur. Thanks guys for another great video.
Damn that sucks, sorry Brian. I know you like ot when we hit the like button on your videos but im gonna pass on doing that to thos one..... We've all done it but dont know if we've all done it in December in Ohio 🥶🥺

@@Madriveroutfitters we are waiting! I know the outcome… at least is not snow and ice around..!
Last scene was a reenactment of me on the river almost every time out 😅
It happens!
That use to be my wife’s favorite move , set, step back ,fall . And she never dropped the rod that is a crucial part of this technique.
Don't drop the rod. Good advice. We'll see about Brian......coming soon.
My fishing buddy took three spills into the PereMarquette, but it was over a period of 35 straight years
Easy place to do it. Thanks for watching.
I fish the PA tribs, but your videos are tempting me over the border to see the ohio stretches

Thanks for watching and happy to help.
I like your jacket Brian what model SIMM is it?
Thanks for watching. You'd have to check with Brian directly on that though. He can be reached through the shop via phone or e-mail.
What line are you guys using on your switch rods for indicator fishing?
Stay tuned, episode 2 coming. Or call the shop and speak with Ryan and he’ll be happy to help with recommendations.
What’s that new Rio switch nymph line like? Does it roll cast well??
Great question for the folks at the shop. Give them a call or send them an email and they will be happy to help/answer. Thanks.

I believe you're referring to a spey rod
In this case, a “Switch” rod. He just messes up words a lot.😆
It would be much worse if you go for a swim and loose the fish too! Hopefully he landed it!
Stay tuned.......
It looks like Vision Hybrid fly line, however I suppose that it is an illusion, that you are using European stuff in US. Greetings from Czech Republic. Thank you for what you are doing for us guys!

He wasn’t making fun of them…..but of himself. Thanks for watching.
Brad Pitt fighting a monster down river. Lol
All joking aside, hope you’re good, I’m sure it shocked the core at that water temp.

If you don’t swim did you really go to tinhead alley? Hahaha
Needs to happen every once in a while.
