I'm thinking anyone that engages and does some damage before it's destroyed counts towards the kill. You killed a few on your own without anyone else taking a shot at it.
I don't know why this is, but it seems like the SPEAR is the only weapon where your kills do not count towards the PO for anyone else. Each of us that played yesterday had to get our own SPEAR kills, it is very annoying.
