Really nice save on this fine piece of vintage equipment, it looks to be in amazing condition after all these years. When you see the motors that were used back then, it makes you wish they still built stereo equipment with this kind of quality/longevity in mind. Could you possibly have the heads reconditioned by a professional near your location? Or might that be a little cost prohibitive? Thank you for your time and for posting this video.

Hi. You've no idea how faulty this was. I had to re-engineer the schematics because there's nothing out there. I replaced all the diodes and caps on the power pcb.
I thought I'd video'd the faults but I didn't, probably because it was just too much. I have put my schematics on ebay for anybody else, A$10. (850mk3 on ebay)
The heads are worn but still sound ok. Still yet to do a freq resp. I've recently got a test tape, yet to try.
I recently bought a set of A2300/3300 heads which I could use but the A-2000 still sounds good. It all depends on whether I keep my A3300SX or the A2000, dunno.
Yes, it's nice to repair something without it costing me an arm and a leg.

I got one recently and the power button just went out on me, it won’t stay pressed in when I push it. Any idea how to fix it? This is my first reel to reel ever.

It's either fallen to bits inside and possibly non-recoverable or it has simply got stuck.
Turn off power and spray the inside of the switch with deoxit or rp7 or wd40, it may be tricky to find an entry point. Switch on and off numerous times (power off) and hope it clears up.
Try to keep liquid from spreading elsewhere. If that doesn't work then it needs to be pulled apart and fixed or replaced.
