I think it's beautiful, I think shelf styling is very personal. I do think that if it were me I would move one of the clusters of things to the other side so that there would be more balance. You have a great eye for colors that go together your decor is very beautiful and aspirational and thanks so much for doing things on a budget

I hope your son's first day of school went well. As much as it is a big day for them, it is also a big day for you and your husband to see him go off to school. It can be rather emotional. Just a note aside from today's video. I took my trip to Hobby Lobby (from Canada). The table top decor was not on sale so I didn't get the aged black vessel but I bought 3 wall art pieces at 50% off and also some fall decor and a few stems. I had a blast shopping there. I was in there forever just roaming the isles and taking it all in. So thank you for your HL tours. Much appreciated!! 🤗

What I do when styling shelves, or foyer console table, etc., for seasons, is take a pic on my phone, if I like what I did, and then save them for the next year. Very nice styling, as always, Sarah. I’m not sure why, but pinecones, to me, are more for Christmas and winter decor. Just my own opinion. Great video.🤗🍂🍁

Hi, Sarah…. First off, HUGE thank you for showing the Rub and Buff in European Gold a video or 2 ago. I have been trying to find one I like to dull down my shiny brass candlesticks (my husband thinks the shiny looks dated). I tried Gold Leaf, too bright….tried Antique Gold and it seemed somewhat pink….ordered the European Gold after your video and I love it!!!! On the shelf styling, such a beautiful cabinet I might add, I have a thought. Shelf 1 and 2 are very similar in color placement. Both have dark on left and light on right. Maybe try the print on the top shelf over on the right side at and angle and what’s on the right over to the left side. Love the lidded basket, I’d use it all year.

You used some really lovely items to decorate with. Simplicity is the way I like to style too. If they were my shelves, I would swap the items on the middle shelf. Personally i feel it would look better, as you have florals on the middle and bottom shelves directly below each other. Also I would add in something with a tiny bit of colour to help draw your eye to your unit. Lastly, please remember that we all have our own personal style and if your happy with your layout, then that’s all that matters. ❤

Hi Sarah! You could try flipping the items in row 2 and then also flipping the items in row 3. You then would have the book boxes at a diagonal with one another and the rectangles would be differently placed as well. To be honest, I just place things and flip flop til I like the overall look of something as I find design principles are somewhat arbitrary and sometimes things just look better even though they may be all wrong from a design perspective. Sometimes I think balancing things equally from one side to the other, like on a mantel, actually looks good....it's easy on the eyes and it registers as "balanced." Just do what you like. I feel you have a good eye as to what actually looks good based on coloring of the objects, etc. There's more to a cohesive look than just the shapes of objects. That could literally drive you crazy after awhile!🤣

I absolutely love the neutral fall decor you chose for the cabinet, it’s just so calming to look at. I have a built in book case in our master bedroom, it’s all white with a beadboard backing. I’m contemplating painting just the backing a different color but I’m torn because the neutral colors and wood tones look so good with a white background 🤔. Also, which rub n buff shade works best on making gold a more muted neutral color on frames? ❤
Thank you so much Lisa! You could always paint it a beige / pewter color so it’s still neutral enough to work with! My favorite Rub n Buff color is European Gold! It’s nice and muted with an aged tone I use it for all my projects!

I would swap the items in the middle shelf or bottom shelf or something to not have all thr flowers and groupings all on one side. My untrained eye tells me to zig zag the heaviness. Also, the lamp on top contributed to all fhe heaviness and flowers being on the right. Its still stunning though.
