I have been tying some Wolfs lately and this gave some great insight into some of the materials and steps. I really enjoy hearing the philosophy behind the fly. Thanks
Very nice Bob, worked in YNP for 7years, lived in Gardiner Mt, met yourself and many great fly tiers, great knowing you and sure to see you again, fish the park every year, mostly north end take care
I am envious that you knew Lee Wulff, I believe his wife is still alive. I have seen them on film and counted myself lucky to have seen it. All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean
I've learned this whip finish, not as fast as this guy, but I dont use it often because my hands get pretty rough, and rough hands wreck UTC and GSP thread pretty fast! So even if i do the whip right, the goofed up and broken fibers of the UTC thread/GSP dont pull through well and end up making a mess of things.
Thanks for sharing this fly and the history behind the fly. I've tried tying flies in hand before, it's quite a challenge. Would have liked to se Lee tie one of these. Cheers 🍻
Hold the phones mate!! What is that GLORIOUS bobbin holder this old fella is using? Love it!!
I wish I knew. You could probably call Bobs shop in West Yellowstone and get one. -H
I started tying flies yesterday (6/24/2018) and really enjoyed your narration and practical tips. I'll try one of these later this week.
How are you doing today with tying? I started in August of this last year 2022. So 4.5 months ago.
Thanks for this. Hope you are still tying. We're posting more new videos if you want to check back with the channel. -H

While I love watching and learning, I especially appreciate you interjecting the history.

Thanks Sean. -H
I also prefer a (sparse) hair wing, it better suggests motion.
Very well tied! 👍
Cool, thanks

I can see that being the case. Thanks for watching and sharing your own experience with the whip finish. -H
