People don’t realize the salt in marinating foods is preserving and tenderizing the food. Aged beef is beef in a cooler for 10 days or more. People just don’t know and they are afraid.

Re RV discussion: I liked the 5th wheel idea you explored, because the engine that pulls everything (vehicle) was separated from the trailer. With an RV you’re buying both rolled into one. With them separated, you would be free to change out the tow vehicle (or trailer) at your discretion, and maybe more easily than selling a pricier RV? I don’t worry about what ultimate decision you make, because Solo noted important facts like it’s a depreciating asset and that he loves a good deal!

We went rving last week, hotspringing in southern Idaho, and we saw a large family from Utah with a very unusual setup. They had a large truck with a truckbed camper on top of it with kids riding in it during the road trip and attached to the truck they had a long travel trailer. I think that is pretty genius. That would work really well for your family, imo.
The best deals can be had by finding people who are selling theirs back to the dealerships, because if you offer them a little more than the low price the dealer does, you both win.

My husband worked for a bank doing debt collections for vehicles. RVs were the number one vehicles people defaulted on and lost everything because they depreciate so much and are so expensive. I’m glad you know that perspective because it isn’t like a car where you can trade it in and get money back or recoup. It’s a loss once it’s off the lot and the upkeep is expensive. But, i absolutely get the allure!

Electrician couldn't believe how dumb that was. She claimed she did it before and nothing happened - that's because she used to use a gas stove.

So, ours is way to big for just the hubby and I so we are using it as guest quarters. One thing I will say, please check out a Toy hauler, they have the beds that raise up to the ceiling and give you room for the kids to play with a door for your sanity 😉

Go to Amazon to find an oven mat I saw some really great ones. I never got a chance to buy one before my ancient stove, it was over 50 years old, caught fire but it was on the range part and had nothing to do with anything but the wiring. My new one has an air fryer in it and no bottom element. You are also able to use the bottom to add water when cooking certain things that need moisture and steam to clean the oven. It still has a lot of bells and whistles I need to learn so I haven't shopped for a mat for it. I think we should listen to others but do our research as well that way we will all be doing what we think is best for our family. I don't think you guys prep too early. I take out all of the meat that I can on Sunday to thaw in the coldest part of my refrigerator. I want an RV or travel trailer. I don't care that it isn't in investment because I see it as an investment in my happiness. If we are careful with our money in every place in life I believe we can "waste" some. You guys are awesome, don't let negativity get to you. Keep those beautiful smiles on your beautiful faces.

Sarah, your hair is beautiful, and Solo.....your hair is not too bad either. I’ve had foil in the bottom of my same oven for 24 years, still going strong with tons of usage.

one suggestion re RV is to have the older kids(2-3 boys) drive and sleep in an additional minivan. Gives a bit of flexibility to run for groceries etc and lessens the need for everyone to fit comfortably in RV. I sleep very comfortably in mine and have camped with a friend as well.

You can always put a cookie sheet to leave on the bottom of your oven. Use an aluminum one. My Grandma Josephine did this most of her life. It never wrecked the oven. She also cooked for threshing crews and even had her own restaurant for years. So this is my suggestion. It makes cleaning the oven much easier.

My husband and I owed a motor home for a long time. We loved the convenience of just going when we wanted and stopping when we wanted to, also I think with all your kids you will save $$ just by having your own space w/o having to pay for extra rooms. And the fact you can cook your meals etc, it’s actually like just being at home only on the road....... but when you get to the time to get rid of it, if you ever do, you will definitely take a bath on it - just like you said ! So enjoy the heck out of it while you can, if you find the deal you’re looking for I really believe you won’t be sorry ! We made some of the best memories of our life with that motor home and now that he’s gone I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything ! Good luck.

Have you ever considered tent camping? We invested in a huge tent, table and chairs, kitchen kit, good sleeping bags and cots and spent loads of time travelling after lockdown let up here in the UK. I was very hesitant but after watching some UA-cam videos with families camping, I gave in and now I’m a big fan. Everything stays packed in tubs in the garage and when we want to go, we just pack the car and head out.🥰❤️

I spent lots of time tent camping with my family as a child in the Michigan State Parks. Later, my parents purchased a "travel trailer". It was easier for Mom because it was less packing for us 4 kids. It was stocked already with every thing we needed for a fun vacation. All we needed were our clothes. Mom even had extra toothbrushes that stayed in our camper.

I think the only question would be "Do we use it enough"? Would love to see your camping videos though. Could you imagine tuning in to see you do five days of meal prep in an RV.

I inherited my parents RV/Motorhome, almost brand new, extremely low miles, etc...im sure we will use it at some point, I keep thinking it seems like alot of work for the upkeep. Maybe next summer. We live in Colorado so we have alot of places to see. We sat down and wrote everything that is needed to do the upkeep and this huge monster ( as I call it). I will say good look to everyone in this new RV adventure 😁

I’ve just came across you guys 2 weeks ago maybe, I think your video auto played after one I was watching but I’m hooked I just love your channel & now my sister watches too, I’m in Scotland so I don’t watch so much for the great tips just because we don’t have the same grocery stores & in comparison we have a teeny tiny family but following along this short time has been an absolute blessing, plenty of giggle out loud moments! Thank God for YT auto play! Anyway I just wanted to express my gratitude for your videos, brought on plenty of smiles. Much love, well wishes, God bless you both & your beautiful family. 🙏🏻❤️🤍💙

One thing I miss about having an adult daughter is she isn’t that adventurous little kid we took camping. My husband and I are tent campers at heart. But, over the years my back has gotten worse and tent camping was a HUGE struggle for me. It took us 3 years going to RV dealerships and RV shows until we found the camping that fits our needs. We basically were looking for a bed in a box and that is exactly what we found! (If you have time look up Geo Pro 12 rk. You will probably laugh) it’s perfect for us and we love it. It’s always ready to go and we can basically throw food in a cooler and go. My advice is keep looking! Your camper is out there and you will find it.
Also, look into National Forests. They cost less per night and a lot of times there is more space and your not so near your neighbor. Downside is there could be none to little amenities (sewer hook up and such)
I love your videos and I love seeing all the smiling faces

It ended up making the paint peel off the bottom of my oven..my appliance guy said not to put aluminum on the bottom any more and it makes uneven cooking.. that's why I shared it with you..
On my Traditionally Speaking fb page I prep not like you but I remove a weeks worth of meat from the freezer and use in order of what thaws first in the fridge.. a roast will be used on Sunday where as ham steak will be used first.. I think you understand. But having meat ready to cook sure helps our family plan.. you don't have to do a whole week but just get a few days meat thawing in the fridge safely..
    Enjoying your videos..
    Have a blessed day
