Albert Lavignac (1846--1916) / Christoph Sischka
Galop-Marche à 12
for 12 Pianists at 1 Piano
(UA / first performance: 3.6.2000 Internationales Klavierduo-Festival Bad Herrenalb)
12 Pianists: Sebastian Bausch, Heike Bleckmann, Dina El-Leisy, Noriko Ishikawa-Kratzer, Anna Kostenitch, Reimi Matsuda, Christine Schandelmeyer, Tatjana and Leonid Schick, Christoph Sischka, Eriko Takezawa, Thomas Turek
This performance has hold the world record for the most pianists performing simultaneously on one piano and was mentioned in the "The Guinness Book of Records 2002", German edition, page 277:
The 12 Pianists are indeed a unique piano ensemble. The choreographic necessities of putting 24 arms with 120 fingers in the right place, on the right keys at the right time are a major achievement. The spectators will enjoy just watching this.
In 1989 a number of young pianists gathered in Germany in order to rediscover and perform music for piano ensemble and to encourage contemporary composers to create new works. In 1996 a new constellation with four permanent members emerged from this group, named Piano4te (pronounced: pianoforte). Their aim was to work in a way similar to chamber music ensembles. Other pianists joined and the big ensemble 12 Pianists came into existence. The starting point for the big-size formation was Sischka's arrangement of Lavignac's Galop-Marche for 12 pianists at one piano. The private collection of scores now comprises more than 700 compositions.

Why yes UA-cam, I do want to watch this. I didn't even know this was missing from my life. Thank you.
Wow, this is amazing! Twelve people, and the melody is still clear, everything in time and well presented.
This is a once in a lifetime performance and I missed it 😭 thanks goodness for UA-cam for preserving this and making it public 🤗 the amount of coordination and talent needed to pull this off - mindboggling! I would love to see a behind the scenes about how they learned and rehearsed it; I'm sure it would've been pretty funny!
The part around 3:30, when they're circling around, making the repeated downward scales would be even more amazing if they'd also made repeated upward ascending scales on the right piano, as they circled past it.
Super! Super!
This is one of the happiest and grandest things have ever witnessed
...this is not just interesting music, but such great performance!
they tried to play a rachmaninoff piece but it required 18 hands
And they had to be BIG hands...
rachmaninoff is giant
Gorgeous! I like to see how people combine music and fun. This performance is bright, difficult, nice, funny...Bravi!!!
the piano can die happy now
The piano has 88 keys and finally all of its 88 keys were used.
If you listen to 2:55 double speed, it sounds like an alien beam coming from a UFO...
+Braden E (Corpington) Right
Braden E Exactly
Or it sounds like the goblin king from Labyrinth when he loses power.
Thank you, Professor Sischka!
Brilliant!
they are all soooo beautiful !!
Bright, sparky song played by a group of happy, well organized people. A different arrangement than what was originally intended for that song. Wasn't it Napoleon Hill that said "“Whatever Your Mind Can Conceive And Believe It Can Achieve” Look at what you can do with what you have.
amazing... I'm speechless... wonderful!!!
Obviously the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth" doesn't apply for this guys
Amazing!!!!!!!! Bravo!! This is brilliance right here. Great job in reflecting the musical layers and blending the melody with almost orchestral textures throughout the mixture. Very unique.
that was amazing
with out words!! magnific!!! amazing!!
Classical music just needs more action sequences like this.
God, this reminds me of medical school, where students go around dissecting and naming parts of a dead body in anatomy class... even the music is fitting.
Nice. Knew it was possible to play those "black midi" files in person. Just takes a lot of practice!
Who ever says the world is not a wonderful place is a Philistine.
I feel for them.
Love this comment!

Awesomely funny and cool!!!
They are really really amazing!❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨💕💕💕
That was amazing.
this can also be played with 4 people (8 hands on the piano) and, if i'm correct, the music is the same except the middle/ish part and the ending, but 12 people is super cool and impressive
120 fingers and only 88 keys... maybe timeshares aren't such a good idea.
Unbelievable and true !!!!!! Incroyable , mais vrai !!!!!
Bravo!!!!
2:56 when your piano teacher asked if you’ve been practicing your chromatic scale
I love it.
awesome!!!
this is soooo cool. and i love how people from all over the world are playing.
I was gonna search 4 hands piano but I had an idea of searching 12 hands piano and this is what I found
This is actually 24 hands!
That piano's probably still smiling. :-)
this is my favorite version of this piece so far xD
I believe Valentina Lisitsa is in there. I love her.
Nope, just another blonde woman that is really good at playing the piano!

From the Description, and the video:
'12 Pianists: Sebastian Bausch, Heike Bleckmann, Dina El-Leisy, Noriko Ishikawa-Kratzer, Anna Kostenitch, Reimi Matsuda, Christine Schandelmeyer, Tatjana and Leonid Schick, Christoph Sischka, Eriko Takezawa, Thomas Turek.'
So, no; your love is misplaced,
somehow i feel sorry for the piano
When eight hands isn't enough! x)
They must have been performing this for over 1 year
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!!VERY REGARDS FROM BOGOTA , COLOMBIA. GOD JESUS CHRIST CREATOR OF THE EARTH AND THE HEAVEN BLESS YOU
The world record was set in Bosnia and Herzegovina...20 hands on one piano...I think it was in 2018
Excelenteeeesss todosss!!!!
I want to be one of them!!
Well that certainly escalated quickly.
Excelente! Parabéns!
why do they applaud during the piece....I understand they appreciate the effort of these mucisians but then why make all that clapping noise during great music.... just wait untill its over.........................
during the baroque era, people would talk and shout during pieces just like in modern rock or pop or whatever concerts, I think it was pretty nice to clap at those particular moments + this piece is made to have fun so the audience can show that, it would’ve been boring if the audience weren’t so engaged
When your mom makes you share with the whole family
I think they are having much more fun than audience as this piece :D
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So good❤
braviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ~ bravissimo ~
...The other piano is there for a reason...
and I don't mean to lean on...
I'm sure that would be just as entertaining
Can't tell if sarcasm or not....

The short lady with the long hair reminds me of my sister!!! And she plays piano too.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):)
ok, this is quite silly, but worth it only for the "shepard glissando" in the middle.

Squad Goals
Aooooohhh so that's how you meant to do some of the impossible remixes I've seen lately..
Imagination has no limits but human capabilities also seem not having limits as well. Human will can move mountains, this seems to be real, no doubt. The result? Only excellence!!!
Never heard this before but suddenly realized this could have been the basis of the Coconut Girl song in The Prince and The Showgirl.
What a surprise !
I've never seen (°Д°)
Maybe if they put in 12 kids it'll be more fun
My cousins at Christmas.
