A Hocus Pocus Inspired Spellbook Cake That Actually Opens!

I've had the crazy idea to make a book cake that opens for quite a while! I figured that there was no better inspiration than the infamous book from Hocus Pocus. Inspired by the film, I created a completely edible book cake using sugar cookie panels for the 'book boards,' gelatin soaked wafer paper for the 'leather,' wafer paper for the pages and modeling chocolate for the embellishments. The first 8 pages were solid wafer paper so that I could open the cover and flip the pages. The remainder of the pages that you see were actually hollow; similar to a secret book safe. A sheet cake was in the center of the book surrounded by a border of stacked wafer paper to create the illusion that it was a solid block of paper. Man was this fun to make!

This is phenomenal!!! Great job!! Although, I would never be able to cut it after spending all that time creating it 😂... Could explain why my daughter's last two birthday cakes are in our deep freezer 😂.
