To prepare for Christmas, the annual Advent concert "Christas in Vienna" from the Vienna Konzerthaus offers a musical excursion into Christmas traditions from all over the world and proves again and again that Christmas is a time of togetherness and people not only musically across the borders connects with each other.
Once again this year, the concert brings together a quartet of internationally renowned singers: the two sopranos Valentina Nafornita and Angela Denoke, tenor Carlos Osuna and baritone Adrian Eröd.
The musical program ranges from classical repertoire to traditional Christmas carols from all over the world to popular Christmas carols. In addition to the Vienna Singing Academy, the Vienna Boys' Choir will be there again.
They will be accompanied by the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien under the direction of Christian Arming.

Zur Einstimmung auf das Weihnachtsfest bietet das jährlich stattfindende Adventkonzert "Christas in Vienna" aus dem Wiener Konzerthaus einen musikalischen Ausflug in weihnachtliche Traditionen aus aller Welt und beweist immer wieder aufs Neue, dass Weihnachten eine Zeit des Miteinanders ist und Menschen nicht nur musikalisch über die Grenzen hinweg miteinander verbindet.
So versammelt das Konzert auch in diesem Jahr wieder ein Quartett von international renommierten Sängergrößen: die beiden Sopranistinnen Valentina Nafornita und Angela Denoke, den Tenor Carlos Osuna und den Bariton Adrian Eröd.
Das musikalische Programm erstreckt sich dabei vom klassischen Repertoire über traditionelle Weihnachtslieder aus aller Welt bis hin zu populären Weihnachtsliedern. Neben der Wiener Singakademie sind auch die Wiener Sängerknaben wieder mit dabei.
Begleitet werden sie vom ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien unter der Leitung von Christian Arming.

@Toelzerfanclever, throughout the day I have been speaking to friends in Vienna and Germany and they are adamant that Matthew is no longer in the choir. I have zoomed in on the boy, back row, and right of middle, his face is never in full shot and I'm certain that it's him. Is there anybody here that can confirm this once and for all??

Many people love traveling to exotic and romantic places. Many people when asked where in the world would you like to travel to if you could choose anywhere in the world to go. The popular reply is usually Paris, London, the Caribbean, Bahamas Austraila, Spain, Mexico, ect. But you don't hear Vienna mentioned very often where it is one of the most beautiful, magical, majestic destinations on planet Earth that God has ever created. So underated and unthought of as a travel destination. This video really encourages and depicts a must do and must see adventurous travel destination of a lifetime.🎄♥️♥️♥️

Love this concert and the one from 2008. I especially liked that you used the pipe organ in this concert. I think Christmas concerts should only have Christmas music. This one seems to have half secular and opera type music which isnt very Christmasey. Keep the Christmas music for the Christmas concerts and the other music for the rest of the year. All the music was wonderful, the soloists and the orchestra and boys choir. Just marvelous. Thanks.

Wonderful concert. I was happy to hear the soloists sing in the Hallelujah Chorus. I've seen it done with and without them singing. Is there any precedent for this for when it's done or not done? I love the effect of hearing those wonderful voices mixed with the choir.

Oh yes! I first saw her in the tv broadcast of a wonderful opera/ballet gala from Winter Palace Square in St. Petersburg, filmed in May 2015 (and shown several times on Mezzo); she did a beautiful rendition of Dvorak's Song to the Moon. Wonderful singer, I saw her poetntial straight away and have been looking out for performances with her ever since.
