You have the most amazing crawling and trail spots!! I’ve never got into the crawling/trail side of the hobby but I plan on doing it. I think it would be soooo much fun to go on hikes through the woods with my little girl and an rc. She loves rc like her daddy. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive for a decent 10th scale rig.. single dad life so it’ll take a while to save up for one… I saw the ascent and that looks awesome and more affordable than most so I might save for that. Hopefully by spring this way me and the little one can enjoy the trails together. Thanks so much for all the reviews and amazing running footage!! Mme and my little girl love watching.. and congrats again on 100k brother
@@keatonjorgensen8793 yeah, I agree with the price but the thing is I won’t really be able to take it out in the woods by May and go on like trail runs and stuff like that with my little girl. That’s why I’m trying to find something like 10th scale. I’m thinking the red cat ascent might be a good way to go.
I like how the they moved the front shackles to the back to stay true to scale. How does the body mount apart from the the 4 screws that holds it up? What's supporting the bed? I know that in TF2 Mojave the bed has body posts...didn't see any on this one 🤔
Great review. At least as far as USA model Toyota Pickups, RC4WD kinda messed up with the year of this model. 1985 was the last year of Leaf Spring front suspension on the Toyota 4wd pickups - 1986 they switched to IFS front suspension on the pickups. They should be calling this a 1985 Toyota
@brianwood9849 probably cause the straight axle is simpler and more robust. They already had them all made so they didn't have to design an ifs system and everyone that builds a rock crawler in the real world does a straight axle swap anyway with either toyota axles or a Dana 40 or Dana 60
What kills it for me is that the suspension is always stiff, hard plastic seats, and the screws on the rocker panels. Not very scale in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I still think it's an awesome rig, one that I may not be able to afford at the moment but I still say that RC4WD should up their game in those areas.
It looks really nice. I am not too impressed by how the suspension works - looks a bit too stiff. I kinda expected it to be more plush. This car is in a way a competitor to something like BRX01, so that is what I naively compare it to. It is great to hear that RC4WD did improvements on the axles as those were apparently the weak spot of the TF2 chassis.
RC4WD leaf springs are always stiff out of the box (and the shocks typically come with small springs inside too) - both of those elements can be tweaked easily if you want to tune your ride height and articulation.
Sry, but couldn’t the place the springs in the front another way? Myn is set more close to the chassie frame. And yes a Sr5 is nice, but shouldn’t they chose another toyota body or something new now? Best from me.
Beautiful but for a scaler it is way too stiff… I would not use any shock oil at all and take away a leaf on every corner. You want it to be a little loosy goosy 😊👍🏻
This is way batter. The axles are now bulletproof with better steering radius. Also the drivetrain is better and the suspension is tuned better out of the box. Back tot he Futur has really nice bumpers and roll bar.
That is the easy and often correct upgrade to all these crawlers. Scalers benefit even more since space is at a premium and the Fusion Pro has no external ESC!!
Body scratches are good on a hardbody since they show history and character like a real car. Prices are ok since there a ton of options under $200. Like most hobbies, there are high end options. There’s even a bunch of cars we’ll over $1k. I get a discount on Amain.

What a beautiful rc! There will always be a special place in my heart for Toyota trucks because i had one as my first vehicle
Couldn't agree more!so cool that they license them and recreate these iconic vehicles
I’m scared I’ll make that a shelf queen if I get one. I love that you took it out and used it. Awesome video.
First run, did some hard stuff. I'm happy I didn't roll it.
Same lol
Love the white paint and the yellow shocks. Another tempting offering! As Francis always say - “Its Pretty Darn Good!” PDG!
Isn't that a Michael Jackson song? PYG!
@@RCReviewChannelPYT. Pretty Young Thang.
Great test drive Francis, really showed it's capabilities
Glad you liked it! It was all work, no fun :)

Look into getting a 1/24th crawler.. They are much cheaper for a truck and upgrades are cheaper as well.

@Adubbs87 for the money I've seen its super capable out of the box. Not a bad choice! Hope we get another person into the hobby!! It's so fun.
Very cool RTR and nice shots! I like the BTTF customization too very cool how everything fits.
I ordered mine this evening and plan on installing a Hobbywing Fusion Pro and a 412 Reefs servo and maybe some different wheels and tires.
It’s gonna be amazing
Congratulations on the 100k!
Thank you so much 😀
Huge fan!! of RC review here in the Philippines!
Thanks buddy! Hope to visit soon
You have a great crawling location, hope its not too far a drive 👍
Glad you like it!
Thanks again!
Damn you RC4WD!!! Man I want this!!
This is a nice package for sure.
Same!!😂 and the Scottsdale!!

There is a crossbar on the chassis that receives a notched block on the pickup bed.

I didn’t know that? Wow RC4WD is suppose to be scale but seem to always fail
I like RC4WD products - I have a # of the TF2s. They just slipped up on the year 😮
Have to say this rtr is so scale its beautiful 😍
1987 didn’t have a solid front axle, the last solid axle Toyota pickup was in 1985.
If it was a true to scale 87 it'd have IFS 85 was the last year of solid front axle
True.
you know your Toyota years!
@RCReviewChannel yeah my grandpa had a toyota dealership all through the 80s and 90s I've had quite a few toyota pickups throughout the years.
So why does Rc4wd continue to fail at scale? I didn’t know the year of the straight axles….
@brianwood9849 probably cause the straight axle is simpler and more robust. They already had them all made so they didn't have to design an ifs system and everyone that builds a rock crawler in the real world does a straight axle swap anyway with either toyota axles or a Dana 40 or Dana 60
This is really really awesome!! I had a 86 Toyota truck and they did a very good job getting it close. 💯
Very cool! How long did you have that truck? Hard to hang on to but would be cool to drive one today
@@RCReviewChannel Had it for about 5 years. Put lockers in it and all. Those were fun times lol. One of those wish I didn't sell ya know.
the link you posted doesnt send us to the RTR directly. do you have that link?
It is coming today at Amain so I will update it shortly
I'm dying to get the Chevy Scottsdale!! Need a chevy in the fleet lol love your content!!
Time that RC4WD or another quality manufacturer did a proper scale body of a 1970's Dodge truck.
Need a Ram Charger!!!
Looks nice. I havent tried an RC4WD product yet but maybe eventually
are the doors sealed well? it would kinda suck if the water can get in
is the front leaf hanger modified or is it stock? usually the shackle is in the front on tf2s ...
That is box-stock
It’s there reverse shackle that they make and just included it on this RTR this time.
Awesome Rig! I plan on getting one. I also really like the BttF Mc Fly version. Is there a difference between the two?
Thank you!
Rear springs are perfect once you hook up trailer
Ahh, yes!!

Fair comments. I appreciate that.
Doesn’t look like it’s available yet through your link Francis
Any minute now. I think everyone on the retail side is just waking up.
@@RCReviewChannel ideal ! Interested to see what it prices at 🤞

I think this is just a packaging exercise and offer at $569. Good offering but yes, I'd love to see rad new stuff from RC4WD this year.
Beautiful but for a scaler it is way too stiff… I would not use any shock oil at all and take away a leaf on every corner. You want it to be a little loosy goosy 😊👍🏻
I see, i see. I'll try that.
FYI Marty black Toyota rtr has been discontinued.
Nice review! Do you like this one better or the black Back to The Future better ?
This is way batter. The axles are now bulletproof with better steering radius. Also the drivetrain is better and the suspension is tuned better out of the box.
Back tot he Futur has really nice bumpers and roll bar.
@@RCReviewChannelI’m talking about the body?
I like this one alot
So so good. Sold out instantly
@@RCReviewChannel I want one so bad it reminds me of my 87 sr5 from high school
I had a whole list of firsts in that truck 🤘🏻
Do you think there's room for some 1.9 wheels and 4.19 tires?
I think it will work fine. Steering might be affected because the tires will hit the leaf springs.
Wish this came of the TF3 chassis:(
We’re not seeing a lot off tf3 errs
These days
Great video ( your vocal mic was clipping turn it down a bit )
Will do. Brand new DJI wireless mic and am still dialing it in.
So is this a 1/18 scale?...I looked up the price lol It's pricey but it looks awesome
This is 1/10
does it come in black ?
This is the only color for now.
The back to future is black

That is the easy and often correct upgrade to all these crawlers. Scalers benefit even more since space is at a premium and the Fusion Pro has no external ESC!!

but they move so stiff.
$569 and I have to worry about scratching that body? How did a $500 RC Toy become an ok price point norm? Another AMain freebie for you?🙄
Body scratches are good on a hardbody since they show history and character like a real car.

@@RCReviewChannel You’d need to fabricate some rust for 30+ year old Toyota to go with the scratches lol, nice Marty and skateboard touches 👍.

Nothing special just a toy
You must not understand the hobby but it is a shock to people that this toy truck can cost over $500 that’s no toy.
Aaannnddd...it's another Toyota. 🥱 Still waiting for someone in the RC truck world to make something different, like a Nissan Xterra or Lexus GX 470.
The problem is... sales. It has to sell in volumes that would justify the effort.
@@RCReviewChannel Yeah, I know. Maybe if I agree to buy TWO trucks, someone will make an Xterra! 😁
