It's an ugly building that ruins the beautiful cohesion of the historical part of the city
I like the building until I saw surroundings. I do think that if there is a part of an ancient or even old city that has been maintained in its original style, anything that needs to be built in that area should do its best to blend. It's a lovely building but in this context, it's an eyesore
That's probably the most sound comment I've seen here so far
Context is meaning. And clearly the architect and the narrator didn't get the memo
I despise modern architecture and especially when it’s in the middle of a historic district and becomes an eyesore.
As someone that lives in a historic town if that happened here we would have collectively torn down the modern building
In my opinion the modernist building should not have been built in the historic centre of Rome
This building is such a extrem eye sore in the heart of rome. Modernist buildings are everywerw allready, they could try to fit in a place not infected by them
I like the open design with the windows. It gives you more insight in how big it is to the surrounding buildings. Unfortunately I missed it when I went to Rome. Maybe next time.
The area was basically a construction site when I went in 2019.
Yeah it looks like my accountants office I don’t blame them. Boring.
Modern architecture amids ancient one is like going to theeter in sweatpants. You might be praised by some for a statement, but more likely you will be just found distasteful.
And yet time rolls on and what was once distastefully modern becomes historical. If it's truly well designed why rob citizens of a beautiful building just to keep in step with a bunch of people who died thousands of years ago?
Well said
it‘s a nice example for modern architectural design and also modern in contrast to antique
It’s alr building but lil out of place they could have taken a different approach by using materials similar to the surrounding areas but with a modern approach
Yes, they could have built it with travertine, instead of white cement.
It looked beautiful on its own and when put next to ghe other buildings it became an eyesore
It Is ara Pacis not ara Pachis for god sake
Dai, facciamo che stava usando la restituta 😂
Modern arcitecture sounds like bs.
Altar of Peace, built during the reign of Augustus to commemorate the first period of peace that Rome had experienced for a long time.
Well, it might be ugly, but if you are a tourist walking Rome in mid August, trust me, give the Ara Pacis a visit. It might be the only museum in Rome with air conditioning. It's a life saver!
Awful
Terribile like many other modern artifacts! Shame to the architect and to the Rome gorvernors!
It’s Americanized Italian style. I can see why most hate it but ultimately money did the talking.
Looks like part of the Met in NYC
It is pronounced ara pacis the c has the the same pronunciation of chatting or calling
Unless you use the original pronunciation of the Latin.
Ahh thanks for letting me know

Ciao! 🙂
Easy to remember the pronunciation of the "ci" in Italian by remembering the familiar greeting "Ciao" and the familiar spelling of the word.
Umm. Chatting and calling don't have the same pronunciation for c. I'm not sure what the second word was ment to be, but I'm pretty sure you made a typo.
It actually serves the museum pieces well by highlighting it via contrast.
No
As if some of facades on the other buildings weren't fake.
Why is he repeating a Pakistanu slur?
