The laser destroyed the cd that was inside, and my first instinct was to check if my cat was ok. (I hope it is understandable, english is not my first language)

There are medical grade keyboards that are waterproof but I don't think there are any mechanical keyboards that are. There isn't a market for hospital grade gaming keyboards Some are resistant like Asus k7 is ip56 but I don't think they're intended to resist an entire cup

Spilled tea on my 30$ keyboard last year. It still works. Just do water with soap and dry it completely for a couple of days. But for people who use it for work I guess that's not an option lmao. I was drying my keyboard and it got even rained on twice lmao
since the keyboard poured when it is on use, there wiill be damage to some keys. but after you dry it properly you can hope some keys are coming back. i have keyboard got drenched by water drops, some are coming back after drying, but 2 keys remain dead
it did happen to me once, u can just pull out all the keycaps i wash it with water to clean , and dry it with hairdryer (until completely dried) its normal now , but my "t" key kinda error
