Firstly put 3l litres milk in 3l container and put it into the 5l container Repeat this step then you will get 1 litre milk in 3l container and 2 litres in 8l container and 5 litres in 5l container

I use another trick - pahle ham 8 liter ke jar se 5 liter ka full karenge tab 8 liter wala me 3 liter bachega tab 5 liter ka jar ham 3 liter me rakhenge to usme 2 liter bachega tab 3 liter ko ham 8 liter me rakhenge tab 8 wala 6 liter ho jayega tab ham 5 liter wala jisme 2 liter bacha tha us se ham 3 liter wala me dalenge to 5 liter khali ho jayega tab ham 8 liter wala jisme 6 liter bacha tha us se ham 5 liter wala full kar denge to 8 liter wala me 1 liter bachega

what are each of them doing
A is cutting the rope of one who is not connected with his rope as the color of their rope doesn't matches (one is yellow and other is dark brown)
B is trying to save him only
C is trying to cut the branch which is after him.
D is tying to cut the branch before him by which he will be fell.
now we get that:-
A is trying to kill B
B is trying to go to a safe location
C is trying to get the branch after him
and D is trying to kill him and C.
hence, murkh D hai
