- Karen Geboes, MD, PhD, UZ Gent - University Hospital Ghent, Ghent, Belgium, reviews the current efforts made towards the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pancreatic cancer. There is less data available on the efficacy of checkpoint inhibition treatments for pancreatic cancers compared to gastrointestinal cancers. The intricate position of tumors in the stromal structure of the pancreas also makes it difficult to develop tumor-specific immunotherapies and treatment regimens. Further trials aim to improve access to pancreatic tumors and identify patients with high MSI (microsatellite instability) levels. This interview took place at the 39th Annual Meeting SITC 2024 at Houston, TX.
