Just tryying to spread the word over here down south! I'll need to make a trip up north in order to jam with you! No one down here likes this kind of music! Great job on the song. I'd have the honor to jam with you! =D
I am from Germany: My mother from Peru, my father from guatemala. I can listen that kevin likes beirut?^^ But the melody, so fucking soul-touching..BIG LIKE.. Captain oh my captain...
It sounds cool but that's because it sounds exactly like a Beirut song. Violin, Accordion, a soft lute-like instrument (similar sounding to ukuleles and mandolin used by Beirut), similar percussion, the vocals sound like he's trying to sing exactly like Zach Condon, the vocal harmony is spaced apart the same amount of notes as in most Beirut songs, tamborine, and chorus made up by brass instruments and wordless vocals.
@artintheforest Well, you have me there. Having fun is the only reason I piddle about with a piano. Though, if you put this on an album don't you think you should mention that it's pretty much a cover of...Beirut?
But more than all that, the melody sounds like it's taken from a Beirut song. Also, the chord progression is constant throughout the entire song which is another thing Zach Condon tends to do (As opposed to the verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus type structure for example). And not only this, the first words of this song, "And I learned of time by your hands", are purloined Beirut's song: "Un Dernier Verre" which contains the lyric, "but I learned of time by your hands". Copy cat.
KNOW WHAT SKREW IT I LOVE BEIRUT AND DESPITE THE FORST LYRIC LITERALLY BEING IN IN A BEIRUT SONG IT IS STILL COMPLETELY HIS SONG AND I FI COULD WRITE LIKE ZACH I WOULD SO SHUT UP and have a nice day.
ahhh this is amazing, kevin echlin is amazing :33
