One set I have enjoyed using in Gen 9 is a scope lens set: Sacred sword, Psycho cut, Night slash, and Leaf blade; most of your moves have an increased crit rate and scope lens boosts it further. you can just crit your way through things and sacred sword is just a huge power move in general
Crazy how one Ability change makes base Gallade arguably better than its Mega Evolution, which has higher Atk and Spe but that's about it. Honestly it deserves this buff, it fits it perfectly and its exactly what it needed. Sometimes I dont mega evolve gallade in national dex to be able to KO certain mons like toxapex
I used to run Mega Gallade and I found some success in OU those generations with a Bulk Up + Drain Punch + Shadow Sneak set (yes, I know Mega Medicham could do that job better, but I liked Mega Gallade's design more). Now that it has Sharpness, I wonder if that set would do better. A set with all cutting moves or a set with these extra tools...
I love the buff they did with Gallade and definitely made it a staple on my gen 9 team and hope they treat other old pokemon the same. For example I can't help but feel a lot of the once mega evo Pokemon have really downgraded since mega evolution was removed. I mean Mawile for example only became viable because of its mega, and taking that away has made it useless.
Gallade is...interesting. It has one of the most stacked physical movepools any pokemon could want & a huge assortment of support moves. It was seemingly designed to be a pokemon that could on-paper punish most switch-ins because you never really know its coverage (which sharpness makes better) or surprise status move mindgames. Aside from the obvious flaws he has. He just wants Ddance, Recover, or a way to boost two usable stats of his at once. But on another hand, It can just run a randomly good support move like Will-O, T.wave, Reflect, D.Bond, Trick, TR, or Hypnosis (unreliable) that can turn the tide for his partners instantly. It's definitely one of the funnest physical attackers you can use this gen. You can run Scope Lens Sharpness boosted crit moves to ignore defensive boosts. Agility + Swords Dance, Shadow Claw Sacred Sword. Bulk Up, Drain Punish, x2 filler coverage moves. Bulldoze to punish faster switch-ins. Three attacks + random status move like T.Wave/Will-O. There's seemingly endless expression with how you can use gallade, but it's not toxic because you either spend 1 turn using a boost to patch up one questionable stat or you amplify an existing strength.
That shows the difference when different mons rised. Garchomp being UU is just a mark of the Powercreep making victims, but for Torterra and Gallade, two mons previously PU-alike mons, being on UU is a great achievement.
In UU scarf gallade is is really fun and interesting wincon since adamant with scarf is just fast enough to outspeed jolly talonflame, so in conjunction with its own talonflame to burn all the priority users and something to beat scarf gengar it’s super threatening as a cleaner

btw theres a terra fire kirlia in that same zone you fight orthworm (forget the name sorry) its male so it was my gallade for the latter half of the game :D it has mystical fire so can be gardevoir too but gallade has good offence for your playthrough! i invested in defense, atk and health mostly and didnt min-max anything with him but hes good still the fire terra can be ok defensively to resist fairy and maybe some other things tho it makes you weak to alot of common things it can still be used with terra blast as another coverage move, plus gallade gets leaf blade so if you can tank or out speed then you can deal with fires weaknesses also i heard someone say the scope lens plus high crit moves is about 50% to hit a crit on those moves and that with sharpness is really good at hitting hard psycho cut, night slash, leaf blade, aqua cutter and prob some more got high crit and are boosted by sharpness too so you can hit really dang hard (even if not scope lensed) sacred sword doesnt have a high crit but hey STAB is still good along with the reasons jimothy said in the video with getting past defense boosts :D sorry this is long but its a thing i wanted to share and hey gallade is good in my eyes! if not VGC then hes still great for a play through and has a good amount of coverage moves and options :D
Still surprising that neither Elecitivire nor Magmortar have Iron Fist and Mega Launcher repsectively. Granted it's kinda too little too late for the former (now that Pawmot exist) and even then it still needs Volt Tackle badly but better late then never
Some other Pokemon buff ideas i have in my mind: Meganium really needs something, so give it a combination of Draining Kiss (more on that later), Earth Power, Body Press, Wish, and maybe Strength Sap, also replace it's HA Leaf Guard with Triage Ampharos should've gotten at leas the Electric Surge ability (we could really use more Electric Terrain setters not named Koko or Miraidon), if not Tail Glow (which is absent for the past 2 gens since Dexit), and Energy Ball sprinkled in Sceptile, either give it an actual special movepool (Earth Power, Thunderbolt, Nasty Plot, and maybe Air Slash) or just switch it's 85 Atk and 105 Sp. Atk stats Aggron, all it takes is take 10 points from it's Sp. Atk (60 > 50) and move it to it's Sp. Def (60 > 70), add in another 10 points for Sp Def. (so from already boosted 70 > even further in 80), and then finally replace it's HA Heavy Metal with it's mega ability Filter/Solid Rock (same thing) Flygon also suffers for Gallade's former problem on top of being overshadowed by the likes of Salamence, Dragapult, and especially Garchomp, so it really needs to stand out. Let's increase it's Sp. Atk from 80 > 100 (don't have enough special ground types) and actually give it 2 more abilities in Sand Rush and Tinted Lens, now it can do something. Just give Torterra Shell Smash and it should actually do some work in the lower-tiers Just replace Drapion's HA Keen Eye (yes, it is Keen Eye) with Tough Claws Golurk could really use a stat increase specifically in HP and a bit more Def and Sp. Def since that's all it really needs now (since it has or at least had Poltergeist), so going from it's current 89/80/80 bulk to ideal say 115/85/85 or 100/90/90 or whatever could work Grapploct could really use Technichan boosted Storm Throw, Mach Punch, and Aqua Jet -if not Jet Punch-, especially since it's never gonna be Fighting/Water without a regional variant or evo knowing GF those are just a few of my suggested buffs

I peed in iron mugulis and now he won't try me
Why the hell is iron mugulis in RU I tend to use choice scarf boomburst variants myself.
From nothing to an UU staple, congrats for the boi.
I would not count on gallade outspeeding talonflame even when scarfed, given it can run gale wings, which gives it priority on flying-type attacks (seems like a bad gamble)
gardevoir feeling left out 😭😭😭😭
Gotta give this to Scyther
Scope lense is a good sharpness option
Agility is good tho
Outspeed treats like dragapult or tusk
U can that as well
btw theres a terra fire kirlia in that same zone you fight orthworm (forget the name sorry) its male so it was my gallade for the latter half of the game :D
it has mystical fire so can be gardevoir too but gallade has good offence for your playthrough!
i invested in defense, atk and health mostly and didnt min-max anything with him but hes good still
the fire terra can be ok defensively to resist fairy and maybe some other things tho it makes you weak to alot of common things it can still be used with terra blast as another coverage move, plus gallade gets leaf blade so if you can tank or out speed then you can deal with fires weaknesses
also i heard someone say the scope lens plus high crit moves is about 50% to hit a crit on those moves and that with sharpness is really good at hitting hard
psycho cut, night slash, leaf blade, aqua cutter and prob some more got high crit and are boosted by sharpness too so you can hit really dang hard (even if not scope lensed) sacred sword doesnt have a high crit but hey STAB is still good along with the reasons jimothy said in the video with getting past defense boosts :D
sorry this is long but its a thing i wanted to share and hey gallade is good in my eyes! if not VGC then hes still great for a play through and has a good amount of coverage moves and options :D
Please give ampharos tail glow and a new ability GF 😭
Give Archeops Armor Tail
It will defeat-its purpose

"yass gallade, slayyyyy" -👸🏻
Yet no one taking about driftblim sweeper with unburden, carrying strength sap or baton pass, and give him torch song.
Still surprising that neither Elecitivire nor Magmortar have Iron Fist and Mega Launcher repsectively. Granted it's kinda too little too late for the former (now that Pawmot exist) and even then it still needs Volt Tackle badly but better late then never
Some other Pokemon buff ideas i have in my mind:
Meganium really needs something, so give it a combination of Draining Kiss (more on that later), Earth Power, Body Press, Wish, and maybe Strength Sap, also replace it's HA Leaf Guard with Triage
Ampharos should've gotten at leas the Electric Surge ability (we could really use more Electric Terrain setters not named Koko or Miraidon), if not Tail Glow (which is absent for the past 2 gens since Dexit), and Energy Ball sprinkled in
Sceptile, either give it an actual special movepool (Earth Power, Thunderbolt, Nasty Plot, and maybe Air Slash) or just switch it's 85 Atk and 105 Sp. Atk stats
Aggron, all it takes is take 10 points from it's Sp. Atk (60 > 50) and move it to it's Sp. Def (60 > 70), add in another 10 points for Sp Def. (so from already boosted 70 > even further in 80), and then finally replace it's HA Heavy Metal with it's mega ability Filter/Solid Rock (same thing)
Flygon also suffers for Gallade's former problem on top of being overshadowed by the likes of Salamence, Dragapult, and especially Garchomp, so it really needs to stand out. Let's increase it's Sp. Atk from 80 > 100 (don't have enough special ground types) and actually give it 2 more abilities in Sand Rush and Tinted Lens, now it can do something.
Just give Torterra Shell Smash and it should actually do some work in the lower-tiers
Just replace Drapion's HA Keen Eye (yes, it is Keen Eye) with Tough Claws
Golurk could really use a stat increase specifically in HP and a bit more Def and Sp. Def since that's all it really needs now (since it has or at least had Poltergeist), so going from it's current 89/80/80 bulk to ideal say 115/85/85 or 100/90/90 or whatever could work
Grapploct could really use Technichan boosted Storm Throw, Mach Punch, and Aqua Jet -if not Jet Punch-, especially since it's never gonna be Fighting/Water without a regional variant or evo knowing GF
those are just a few of my suggested buffs
