    I'm really into brick stiching... I love the way you start your designs... Doing 4 instead of 2...

    I have made many pairs in this style. I use a heavy thread like WildFire for the top triangle, then switch to a more regular thread for the fringe. It is a nuisance but it works well.

    Hey, labeling it "native style" is wrong if you are not of Indigenous ancestry.....its technically cultural appropriation. Im not trying to gate keep, but its really damaging for our culture, traditions and values.....please do research before you do beading this specific. I don't recommend it. Its not okay.

    • @mo1979ca
      @mo1979ca Рік тому +1

      Hold up, how is it cultural appropriation? It's just a tutorial on how to make earrings. People get bent out of shape when it comes to names. It's not like it's downing our culture. It's just a simple style. I am indigenous. I don't see it as cultural appropriation. Cultural appropriation is like a person wearing regalia as a Halloween costume. This is just a known name everyone calls it because so many cultures bead.

    • @NRRV_
      @NRRV_ Рік тому

      @mo1979ca really? You don't see it.....a settler person telling settler folks that ors okay to make "native style" earrings? I have a BA in this, I should know what is appropriate or not. It's like Amazon selling "native style" dream catchers, or a lady selling "Cherokee style" boho necklaces....it devalues traditional beading, that has been passed down for centuries. It devalues traditional knowledge, just so settler folks can still "try to be like us". I highly recommend you do some research as well to further understand. Again, no hate, I just think people need to be more aware of their actions. It's a micro form of appropriation, especially if settler people in the comments are trying to make and sell "native style" bead work as their own. It's wrong....go ask other beaders, a lot of us say the same thing. Hope this helps 😊

      @@NRRV_you’re “allowed” to make sushi all you want yet we draw the line at earrings?

    • @NRRV_
      @NRRV_ 9 місяців тому

      @@Madelope people can make beaded earrings all they want, im just trying to explain the difference between calling it "native style" vs not using "native style". It still takes away all the well earned history that our ancestors have tried to keep alive. I'm all for cultural appreciation, but it's considered appropriation if non indigenous people try to profit off of "native style" earnings. Just buy the authentic stuff made my indigenous hands then; or make patterns that aren't copying traditional indigenous patterns. It's just education, I'm trying to not spread hate. If you take it personally, reflect about your own feelings then, there might be something there that's stopping you from looking at other perspectives in an open manner.
      I have a BA in indigenous studies if you need proof, I am also indigenous myself. I try not to speak on behalf of every nation, I just base it off of my experience and what I personally witness in my time with friends, family and university acquaintances. 🙂✌🏼
      I hope you all have a great day, truly. Enjoy the sun if it's out, I certainly am. 🥰🥰🥰

      @@NRRV_ calling it native style is…factual. Removing it would make you just as upset because it’s not being culturally cited..
