*Works so well **Fastly.Cool** that it only requires daytime operation until high temp and humidity are overnight. It is difficult to get to side filters, but back is easily accessible.*
These devices work on the principle of adiabatic cooling. Moisture is evaporated from the wet pad inside which cools the air passing over it. Chilling the water will definitely improve it's performance. Americans call these things "swamp coolers" because they were widely used in the hotter swampy areas of the USA before AC was invented. You can get commercial versions of these plumbed into mains water for cooling factories - far cheaper to run than compressor based AC. The only snag is that because of the moisture evaporating from the pad the humidity inside the van will get quite high. Opening the windows would help but you probably don't want to do that for security & bug reasons. Compressor based AC units (roof mounted, free standing with exhaust hose or split types) are available but are much more expensive & will need a mains hook up to run them. A camp site we used to go to in France had mobile AC units for hire. The only snag was that if too many people had their AC units running at the same time it would sometimes take out circuit breakers on the site supply board!!
The only thing I can see different about this vs any of the off the shelf cheap units so popular right now is a possibly more powerful fan and more water capacity, but even though I use one of these in my home office and it works exactly as advertised, I am not sure it is worth that much more then the ones I bought for $49. Under certain circumstances, they can be quite effective. Just don't expect anything more than blowing a cooler breeze on you then say a traditional fan.
That is NOT an air conditioner. It’s an evaporative cooler. A good half way point between a fan and a proper air conditioner. Good in dry heat, but not humid heat.
Jeez what a rip off, between £189 and £289 online, it's a swamp cooler, basically a fan and a paper element to soak up the water, the same thing can be found on ebay it's called the Arctic air cooler, for £20

General Comment : do not ever underestimate the value you provide for Newbies. Brilliant!
Him too! 😎
You should put the thermometer in a cup of water, measure before and after using the cooler. Give it 5 hours.
These only work in very dry weather. In our normal humidity it is useless, do not waste your money
Could you please tell me how much it weighs?
no difference to using a fan with a water tank as i bought for under $30 on temu, beats the huge price for this product and does same job

The dog decided the fan is better.

It’s just a glorified fan .
