Basically the PS2 may be an old console, but it's games are as modern as it can get. Truth be told... despite a few new genres that rocked hard (as moba, modern survivals, colony management, battle royale and a small "etc") the more classical genres already reached their peak on the PS2 and even that some mechanics and ideas were enhanced, so many others were downgraded and we can count in our fingers how many old franchises (and the ones inspired by those) had better sequels. And there is the fact that the PS2 is one of the last old school consoles (as the Wii and the Switch after it... but not as good as... the Wii not even close), that you simply bought complete games and just insert and play it. In the next gen after it, the two major consoles were PC-lite and the other too different... too focused on casual and lacking on a lot of genres. The PS3 is the last console I bough (also had the Wii on that gen) because I don't want to waste money a downgraded PC that only serves to play games when I already had one that do all the computer sht. And the PS2 had a full package of amazing games that were exclusive and there was the only place to play it all. I'm not a nostalgia boomer... The current gen is a crap just because the current state of the industry is pretty bad, but until the last one, things only improved. I also didn't like the fact that the PS2 almost monopolized the great titles and I prefer the PS360 and PS3X models that players had almost all games in their favorite platform... but yet it don't changed the fact that the PS2, by the wrong reason, still the best console ever released... and that generation still has a huge quantity of amazing games that never grew old as the three other consoles exclusives also still play better than most of current games. Your list just prove it... there is content to do at least twenty other videos like this, being extremely selective about what to quote. Personally, the PS2 emulation is one of the main reasons I almost don't buy new games. Cheers!

I don't have a PS5, I would love to though, it looks so rad. Have you played it?
@BBKDRAGOON Yessir. One of the few games I bought day one because of how purely fun it looked.
I hope Astro gets a PC release one day so more people can get to play an absolute beauty of a game!
You gotta give the Ace Combats on PS2 a try if you never did. Some of the best games ever made.
Ace Combat 4 was the goat, my cousin and I spent HOURS and HOURS and HOURS playing it together. I absolutely LOVE that game. Great suggestion. I started AC7 on PS4 I think, but need to revisit. What is your favorite?
@BBKDRAGOON I like zero the best overall as it's just distilled ace combat, plus the enemy ace squadrons are awesome. I love the boy's story in 4 as well.
Check out 6 if you never played it, the missions are huge!
I still have and play my ps2 to this day
I bought a PS2 slim in january and man let me tell you that's the best decision i've ever made. Whether you preffer pc emulation or console it's still the best console ever.
I'm taking GT4 from your video and lemme suggest you try destruction derby. It has a racing game mode and a colisseum game mode which is by far the most fun i had growing up with ny brother. Absolute gem of a video!
YO I remember renting destruction derby from the grocery store as a kid, that game was so cool. Thank you!
Where did you buy it from? Been wondering where is the best place to look?
@@fddodgers11 i'm from south america. I used facebook marketplace and found one modded
nice video im glad that i discover you
The PlayStation 2, now you know my language! The PlayStation 2 was a complete classic, I still got the console too thiiss daayy, and I own PlayStation 1 and 2 games!😃
Consoles from the PS2 generation are the main reason i have a CRT. Best generation for consoles hands down.
Downhill domination is amazing
burnout 3...the legendary racing game from PS2 ERA..
I pretty much only remember playing Ratchet and Clank and Guitar Hero on PS2. But I didn't need any more than that.
I’m playing through Jak 2 for the first time right now (friends has it as a kid but never had it myself) and I’m honestly having a total blast! A bit of ‘this game is old’ jank aside, it’s the most fun I’ve had in a while. Absolutely going to play more games from around this generation and can’t wait!
YESSSSS love to hear that! I never tried Jak 2 but the original Jak and Daxter was so smooth and cool
@@BBKDRAGOON just finished it about 10 mins ago, moving onto Jak 3 now. So excited! (And Shadow of the Colossus after that)
Jack series is legendary. Jack's 3 immersive world building blew my mind back then. Have fun!
The PS2 is the nostalgia of a real premium console.
With the hassle and complexity of today´s industry, gaming feels like work! I don´t want my games to be work i want simple fun!
I'm currently playing Rumble Roses with HD retextures right now, and even making my own video fan fiction of it on my channel. Also playing Smackdown vs Raw and some Tenchu games here and there, ALSO with HD retextures because I could've sworn that's how they looked in my childhood lol.
That's rad, I heard the old WWE games were super fun, never tried em.
@@BBKDRAGOON They were, especially the THQ ones on N64, but apparently these SvR ones were the next best thing to those, so it's nice to finally experience them now.
I just beat Final Fantasy 10 a few days ago on PS2 and it was great. Going to go back and play other random PS2 games.
My favorite game of all time, what a masterpiece! How was the playthrough!?
@@BBKDRAGOON Story was good and the soundtrack was great.
Ff12 is such a great rpg. Loved the PS2 version.
Long ago were the days of just 'pop n play'
I hear the 7 seas calling
I'm also been using the PCSX2 a lot. The original Ratchet and Clank trilogy in 4k?! Yes please!
The best version for me of Zone of the Enders 2 is on PS4 which is a beautifully remaster of an excellent HD port.
I just found a store in my area with old games ps2 GameCube and I’m rebuying a ps2 and games over the ps5 I got my hands on def jam Capcom vs snk 2 Onimusha metal gear sons of liberty so many games I almost cried. I’m so tired of all the downloads and updates everything is ever changing . I miss popping in a game that I bought and playing the game knowing the game. I’m getting back to my Dreamcast and Sega Saturn PS1 so many great games and the ps2 is the last time a ps was fully backwards compatible. They just refuse to do it very frustrating. 2 to 3 3 to 4 4 to 5
i implore you to try shin megami tensei III: nocturne, it’s great on pcsx2 and it’s one of my favourite games of all time. don’t let the turn based battles shy you away, one of the only turn based systems i actually enjoy.
The best way to truly play Physical PS2 hardware is to hook it up to VGA PC monitor.
I understand ur video is just based on emulation and nothing offical.
8:04 Does this remind you of the Nintendo Switch Popeye game? When the player dies, this happens.
I see nina and a PS2 on the thumbnail , i click.
As a 30 year old guy , im in a stage that videogames boring me , nothing , but the old gen games always enjoy and can play whatever i want.
As a quitter from destiny 2 since 5 months (by fault of that and yeah ...mine too , i get burned out from live service games , now i hate them)
I enjoy the most of these games than the modern ones.
What do u choose ?
- a ps5 or a xsx

Im gonna be honest , i choose the money.
Ps2 , xbox classic , ps3 and xbox 360 are my thing , chilling and NO NEEDING WIFI , Or PS PLUS.

and now all is broken and microtransat everytime)
Even the f2p games
Damn ! Thats a lot of games that i played so long and i don't remember.
PS3/X360 were also good systems, more and more people agree they were the last good ones actually before we entered the area of microtransactions/DLCs/live service unfonished games but yes, the PS2 library is unmatched
I have x22 ps2s and 1x *brand sealed new ps2 slim*
*Many with modchips*
How do you get your saves from physical memory card to pcsx? I have modded ps2 with hdd games. I also have file browser. Do I just move saves to USB flash drive?
Can you talk about the project dedicated to bringing back lawbreakers? Cliff Bleszinski tweeted about it himself
I miss when u just pick a game and start playing
Playing MGS1 Twin Snakes on Gamecube is a good “remake”
PlayStation 2 is my main console as of now, it's Japanese though. Hope to get a North American PS2.
What settings do you use?
name of game @00:30 ? the robot mecha game
Edit: Zone of the Enders 2 by Kojina
I’ve been thinking of this so much lately. I still have my ps2 games, but the ps2 i currently have doesn’t work and my og ps3 went yold. Leaning toward getting a ps2.
Check out PCSX2 if you have a PC, it's a great way to play these days
Been playing Battlefront 2 and Tekken Tag 1 on PCSX2 a lot lately.
Yo YES! How is Battlefront 2 on it?! And I've heard the Tag games are great
@@BBKDRAGOON phenomenal! You can actually still play online too but it's pretty rare to find anyone online on the PS2 version. I have the original PC version as well and that one gets lobbies of up to around 20 people on good nights though and is a lot of fun. I actually played the PS2 version splitscreen with my brother in law a couple weeks ago and we had a lot of fun.
Tag games are a ton of fun. You can play with up to 4 people too which is pretty sick. Wanna try it out at a nerd out night with the bois sometime.
Are you going to play Astro Bot ?
It will definitely remind you of the PS2 era of gaming if you play it. Fantastic " old school " game. It's very refreshing to have such a good (pure fun) gaming experience In 2024 ! 🥳
Edit : sorry I didn't read other comments until now lol. So you don't own a PS5 😢 ... I still think you would absolutely love Astrobot haha
Thank you dude and no worries, I REALLY want it, it looks so good. How hype to have something that good and in that style releasing in 2024! Someday I'll check it out if I get a PS5. Hope you had a great weekend
I bought a Playstation 1 recently and the games for it are impossible to find.

Playstation 2 its still cool
Cheers!
there is a native ps2 port of mgs2 on pc. Found it find to play through with some fixes to get working on modern windows.
sometimes it's easier to play console version than old PC port yeah
But isn't the MGS Master collection fixed now? I looked it up and on reddit they say it should be fine now.
If you're willing to mod, they are a bit better but some post processing issues remain and audio issues
Great times
PlayStation 5 is the goat how did you mod your ps2 with the hard drive thing ?
I agree even though I had to replace it with pcsx2 as laser on ps2 kept dying.
00:16 Game name?
The last great PlayStation until the 3 would signify a major downturn.
Or get a crt, in my country they are super cheap, and the difference is enormous
Gran Turismo 4 is the Game Sony should resmasted and take it back, this game in the right angle with the most poligon car Is looks like a ps4 game, if you don't believe it, then fight me
God bless Zone Of The Enders
My very first “jrpg” as a kid was kingdom hearts. I remember starting that game on the ps2 and was amazed at how that game looked.
Because we're rejecting Playstation & Microsofts punk Tactics trying to remove people's profiles just because they don't like you & no more servers are down.
I'm going to be a bit of a contrarian here, and say that if you complain about most extra content being locked behind microtransactions, then you probably do deserve it for having terrible taste and actually being eager to play EA and Ubisoft Slop (who are the biggest infractors insofar as obscene DLC is concerned)
Play on a crt
booted up my ps2, started playing all time fav. game Tokyo Xtreme Racer.....the graphics!!!! my GAWD THE GRAPHICS!!!! sucks ass.....it dont look like how everyone be posting HD 4k graphics.....shut if off....
It's not the even the ps2 your playing on..pointless
