Eiffel Tower is breathtaking even to see it on the ground but as you go up it gets more and more exciting, when you get to the 3rd floor (300m) it's unbelievable. The Arc de Triomphe (Arc of Triumph) is also very cool. The view from the top is very cool. Of course Louvre Museum with Mona Lisa in it is worth taking a look. I know these are the cliche places to visit but they are that for a reason and they are pertty awesome.

One other thing I would advise - Take the metro to St. Denis to see the Cathedral Basilica of St. Denis. It is the first gothic church ever built. It is a truly amazing place. It's also the Necropolis of French Royalty. It's built over the first church there, built around 450. You can see the ancient tombs down there, and throughout the church. Marie Antoinette is there, Catherine de Medici. Amazing. The church is big, and nearly 1000 years old. DON'T miss it !!

I missed that. What fighting? I'm American, and I love Paris. In fact, I think it is one of if not THE greatest treasures on the planet. As for August, keep in mind, the city empties out as people take long vacations then. And it can be hot. Not much air conditioning either.

I've read these reviews and can't see how it turned into a debate in which country is better. The video was on the best sites in Paris, a wonderful and breathtaking city. The world has many beautiful cities, yes even the U.S. but this isn't something that any generation can take pride in, infact it's despite the destruction and damage we have done as the HUMAN race. I applaud this video because it shows the international love one many has for a city that is not his own. That's awesome!

Paris is fabulous! I had a wonderful time walking around the city, visiting museums; it was an amazing experience. Hint: As an american you will get a much better reception from the french if you at least try to speak french. Learning a few phases will make all the difference. I found the people to be pleasant, & helpful as well as charming.

Not all Americans are "ugly" and not all Parisians are "snooty." Let's stop generalizing and start appreciating each for what we are. We are unique human beings who all come with our own troubles and faults as well as our beauty and humanity. I love Paris and I found most Parisians to be simply charming and friendly. I hope I left the same impression on them.

I am sorry you feel that way. Most American are warm hearted and very giving people. I am from the south were where as a general rule manners are taught. I am not disrespectful of your culture. I find it interesting. I am not rude to anyone, I walk slow because I am short,I buy from smaller shops when I can and no the world does not revolves me or anyone else for that matter and I do hate our politics also. We are a culture that accepts all cultures. How many countries do that ?

The Pompidou museum isn't free on the first sunday of the month (and i'll avoid the Louvre on that day because it's really overcrowded), better do a serie of smaller second-rank museum on that day and keep the Louvre for a normal paying day during the week, much better experience and probably cheaper overall. (First sunday at Orsay is doable, but better going by the middle-end of afternoon, then it will be free and nearly empty)

I thought Paris was a pretty place to visit. But we had to stand in a queue for nearly three hours waiting to buy tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower! I wish we could buy them online in advance. The waiting in the queue was much longer than standing in a queue waiting to get on a ride in Disneyland Paris.

@MinuteXify ive been to both and their both beautiful in different ways. I live really close to nyc and yes it is crowded but the atmosphere is so great cause its a financial capital. And paris is not as quiet as you may think it is-trust me it's really busy too and there is still a ton of people there.

When your in their country, you should try to be polite to them, and they do remember what our country did for them, and our people who died to help them. just check out what it says at the Arc de Triomph.

I'm planning a trip to Paris next year. I've been trying to learn how to speak French, but of course it takes a lot of effort and practice. I'm worried about ordering in restaurants for two reasons: 1. I'm a vegetarian, and don't if there will be many food options abroad without meat. 2. I've heard the French can be rude/impatient when you're ordering because you're slower to read the menus/ask questions/know what you want. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I agree, american are often really nice. it's a nice welcoming country to, sometimes really weird to us but people and the service industry have this tradition of friendliness that makes it easier for a tourist, than in Paris . It seems like both french and american people have to deal with unfair stereotypes it spoils their relationships. In Paris you will have encounters with narrow minded people like everywhere else, but they'll be narrow minded in a french way, witch make it... surprising
