Glen Sunshine is right on the money at 39:07 . No matter how unserious might be the heart attitudes of many who casually adopt pagan symbology as a fashion statement or tribal identity marker, the unseen reality of the powers they are invoking is perfectly serious and apt to have serious consequences in the real world (for a time). We should be sober minded about this without being fearful.

Another great discussion. What I felt was missing was any reference to Kierkegaard's three spheres: the aesthetic, the ethical, and the religious, and how they promote different levels of commitment in ascending order from the first to the last. The other omission was Heidegger's belief that a sign of nihilism having run its course would be to eliminate all meaningful differences, hence contemporary 'worldviews' lacking seriousness and thus limited to engaging with the serial stimuli of the aesthetic sphere.

These would certainly have added to the content. I’ll aim to get into some of these figures in other episodes. Thanks!

Corrupting the Image III by Dr. Douglas Hamp is a great book about hybridization and/or trans-humanism. I highly recommend it.

I was wondering when you guys would FINALLY discover PK. He’s brilliant with many interesting ideas worth deep contemplation, including The Machine. And he’s going to be in the US this month (October). Good going.

Interesting stuff brothers. I didn't imagine that there are some Christians who think transhumanism can be part of the process of glorification. This is a mockery of the resurrected body of Christ.

Thank you for your thoughts, gentlemen. My concern is that, while our pagan culture has been quite Christianized (as, say, Tom Holland points out), our Christianity has been quite paganized. This is an old problem: the kings of Israel were liable to syncretism, and the Temple was not immune to it, either. In the 1980s we were rightwardly political, calling it God's will, and now we are leftwardly political, calling it God's will. We're always looking to build Herrnhut, always using the wrong tools for our wrong goals, and so always failing, and always blaming someone and something else than universal human sin.
That's where we must work. Jesus never tried to 'dismantle' anything, not even Rome. He worked to build the Kingdom, one heart at a time. He was always positive, we are always negative. So is hell.

The Paterfamilias was the oldest Male member of a family. He had absolute power and authority over all the members of his house. Even power over life and death. Roman culture was as patriarchal as it gets. We are not like the Romans. You confuse the late Roman cultural decay for the original foundation of their culture.
