- Kumarakom is a village on Vembanad Lake in the backwaters of Kerala. Set in the backdrop of perfectly aligned, lush bright green paddy fields, fringed with swaying coconut trees, this lake forms a part of a much larger network of canals and rivers that are collectively called the backwaters. Vembanad Lake is the largest lake in Kerala and the longest in India. With a perfect blend of nature and the rich culture, this is certainly a place worth visiting.
Kumarakom is known to house many varieties of birds. With varied wildlife, this is definitely a paradise for bird enthusiasts. The atmosphere at Kumarakom will make you more romantic and give you the most memorable moments in your lifetime.

Hello! The place where we were staying organised it for us. There are many local shikara boat operators near the lake. You can book it on the spot one day prior

Alleppey or Kumarakom both are the starting points of the boat cruises through the backwaters. Whether you choose Alleppey or Kumarakom the scenes in the backwaters would be the same but Alleppey will be more crowded
