I feel like my only problem with this figure’s design is his head looks a bit too much like the G1 Matrix of Leadership, instead of Jackie’s head.

I’m pretty much convinced that Rise of the Beasts Wheeljack is just a completely new character, but the studio just used the name Wheeljack since it was a name they still had the trademark for. Pretty much what they did with Armada where a lot of the names they still had rights were just given to almost random new characters so they wouldn’t have to deal with new licensing.

What's really nuts about Wheeljack is that the PSP version of the 2007 game had a design for Wheeljack that was heavily inspired by G1. It used the Fenomenon Stratos as his vehicle mode (mid 2000s re-imagining of the classic Stratos) and even had the right head design. It was a shame a toy was never made based off it or any of the other original characters from that game (which included Sideswipe, Hound and Trailbreaker).
Maybe Studio Series Gamer Edition will do it? They took Cliffjumper from the WFC DS game and that being kinda obscure I cant see why not

Hound being a literal hound with dog ears was brilliant. Too bad the original story of the PSP game wasn't very good, especially compared to the DS version, but the fact it even has an original story in the first place makes the game worth checking out for the movie fans.
I kinda liked bayverse que; he gave off the “kind tinkering grandpa” vibe. He seemed like the type of grandpa that gets excited when his grandchildren need his help with something except in this case, the grandchildren are the humans and autobots.
But Que is a demon tho! I don't want him to be anywhere near any children, humans, OR Autobots, or even Decepticons. Que deserves to be put down, for good. I hear what you're saying, but his design doesn't give that off, it gives off the vibes of a murderous demon. Maybe Que should've been like what you're saying but with a different, less horrifying design.
@@fennekin1750 I honestly think that his design wasn’t that bad. It definitely could’ve been better, but he was very “grandpa-like” with his “hair” and mustache. He also looked relatively frail. Definitely not a combat specialist, and I doubt he could do much damage to anyone, let alone a deception.
They way you describe him; makes it seem like he’s a monster just because you see him as a freak show. I wonder how you see people with physical disabilities.
Either way, he definitely should’ve been designed better, but it doesn’t matter since he got mercilessly executed. And sad, it was. Definitely made me feel that way when he said “bumblebee, I-…think they’re going to kill us.” I don’t think he’s a monster. He never gave off that vibe. His role was purely support and he was never a fighter just from the way he carried himself.

I would've rather him look at the very least like the other bayverse characters. I was not saying his personality was horrifying, just the design.

Given some extra time the BB movie designs would absolutely work in a proper live action setting with their own spotlight. Use the cybertron ones as bases and adjust for an earth alt mode and they'd work perfectly. Just keep ROTB Arcee, that design is amazing.

Agreed. The Bumblee Design were designed with Cybertronian form in mind, so did Bumblebee himself in that Cybertron scene. All they need to do is design Wheeljack with a Vechicle Mode in mind with his colours. Just like Bumblebee with the VW Beetle.

No, I didn't, I said Wheeljack, y'know from BBM, should be redesigned like RotB Bee, Optimus, & Arcee, so he can look the same as he did in BBM, but be able to transform. I like designs in other continuities like TFA, TFP, etc etc etc, but I don't like some Bayverse designs cuz they're too ugly & messy. I like when Transformers look like what they are actually supposed to be, which is sentient alien robots who transform from Cybertron, NOT big piles of metal crumpled together, blended up, then put into a general humanoid shape. I like streamlined, cohesive designs, if you don't know what I mean then look at G1, BW, TFA, TFP, RID01, RID15, Cyberverse, EarthSpark, WFCT, Legacy, IDW, even some Unicron Trilogy, & some, SOME Bayverse designs, etc!!!

@@moonwhooper Movie Wheeljack except for his glorious 2 seconds in Bumblebee are all ass Wheeljack designs. He has one of the most recognisable, and iconic design of all Transformers I'd dare say (maybe not to general audience, but just purely design-wise), second to Prime, and they butchered him in every major appearance.

Que has always been such a conflicting figure/character for me. I loved his personality in the movie and most of his design, but hated his face. I hated the fact he was supposed to be Wheeljack, but I had no issues pretending he was a new character entirely, perhaps even Wheeljack's teacher at one point. I loved how the figure of him looked in shape language, but those knees were an utter deal-breaker for me considering I love posing my figures in dynamic positions which his ankle joint would have helped with immensely if the knees weren't useless.
The addition of now seeing a more Wheeljack-looking version of the figure which I absolutely would love to own, and would actually display him with Que if he were available, and if the mold didn't have horrible knees. I've been half-tempted to buy a Que for vehicle mode, and a Que I modify to actually be able to pose as he should be since I always perceived him as a cheap-to-obtain figure, but apparently that's FAR from the truth considering the only ones I can even find are almost $200, so it's all the more infuriating that this figure is so difficult and expensive to obtain in both forms, and *needs* modification on top of that. I wish they put more time into those knees, and made this figure more accessible, the Wheeljack version, especially.

When I got this figure, I loaded him up with all of those freaky mech-tech weapons I had tossed into storage. It seemed fitting for the character.
There needs to be a Studio Series DotM Q. Come on Hasbro, Fing make it.
Just FYI he is supposed to come with a variety of weapons. Two drill looking pistols, a staff and a table saw mechtech weapon.
Only the Que version had that. At least to my knowledge

I managed to grab the AOEN exclusive version plus Generations Wheeljack last December which for both I got a steal. Sadly my version has stress marks on the shoulders that clip on the ball joints so that sucks but glad to have it.

I've been wanting to get the Lost Age/Movie Advanced Wheeljack for a while now due to wanting to make a shelf for movie characters in G1 colors. Just wish the decepticons had more characters like that outside of Starscream, Mixmaster, Soundwave & the Legion class Devastator (I could be wrong, and there might be some I've missed, though).
this toys head looks like someone took the matrix handles, and welded them onto a slightly tweaked Cylon Centurion head.
I disagree with the point about the bumblebee movie designs. I agree that the rushed production shows, but those designs, excusing the borrowed model parts, are damn near perfect. I like the updates they made to Arcee in ROTB. They only improved her design. Mirage could’ve done with taking more inspiration from G1 or literally any design because he comes across as so bland and unfinished. The ROTB designs also have the bayverse “over designed face” problem. Except for the Maximals. Love their designs.
As for that head, it’s such a badass shell that can tank any point blank explosion that his g1 mask is initially there for. And as for that comment about movie tickets and concept cars, I want nothing more than to see my family’s plain old Ford minivan drifting speeding into a battlefield, or any underwhelming vehicle for that matter to show off just what these robots can pull off with any disguise

Yeah, I managed to get both the DOTM Deluxe Wheeljack and Soundwave figures. I placed a pre-order on them, and a month or so later, just a few hours after I got the notification that they'd been shipped out, the site changed their listings to say that they'd been cancelled. I remember being somewhat confused.....Was I getting them, or wasn't I getting them? Then, a few days later, they arrived........The way I imagined it, they received enough to fill the pre-orders, then called it a day. I never did manage to get the cancelled Leadfoot figure, though......I did get its knockoff last year, just before the Studio Series version released.
I was shocked when i saw in Chris McFeely's video years ago that the blue-Einstein-autobot from dark of the moon is named Wheel Jack
I hope they use this mold or the current studio series wheeljack or "que" mold in this design/deco, I always even as a younger kid hated that design.

I totally hear you about how cool it is to have a Transformer in a vehicle form the same as something someone in your neighborhood owns. I've always had a soft spot for Bluestreak, because he was my 1st Transformer back in the day, & on that day, I picked him off the shelf to take home because a neighbor had the same car, a silver Nissan 280ZX. Frikkin loved that car, still do. Don't ask me why, it's irrational, I know. But just the idea of imagining it was Bluestreak just chillin in vehicle mode down the road, keeping an eye on things 😅 The effect hasn't gone away since I got older, either. I had a job a few years ago & one day I realized I had parked next to a silver 370Z, & though, oh shit, it's (Alternity) Megatron! 🤣

While I don’t like wheeljack rotb design, it’s really not that bad in retrospect. He had a massive departure from his og design in armada. Not to mention there were going to be changes regardless of whether fans wanted there to be or not. Not everyone who works on transformers is going to want to make super g1 style designs and it’s been that way for years at this point.
Armada Wheeljack isn’t really much of a different version of Wheeljack as he is more of a different character. It’s more so that Hasbro needed to use the name in order to keep the license for it, which they would do quite often. Especially considering Armada Wheeljack doesn’t have any characteristic connections with any other version of Wheeljack other than sharing a name.
And while I’d have to look it up again, there was an inconsistency that occurred between the American and Japanese release of Armada. This inconsistency was that while the American version of the Armada character was named Wheeljack, he was named differently in Japan. And later on when we got a Wheeljack-based design in Cybertron (I think that was when we got it), the American version gave that design a different name whilst the Japanese version referred to the design as being Wheeljack.
Though I will say that in Que’s defense, it was Hasbro’s decision/want to have him be Wheeljack. Que was meant to be a Bay original Transformer-like Stratosphere and Nitro Zeus-but Hasbro forced the name of Wheeljack onto the character.
That head. I'm imagining the Transformers UK comic having a crossover with another UK comic, 2000 AD - home of Judge Dredd. If anyone ever put the Cybertronians in Megacity One, the Matrix would look like this Wheeljack's head.

The AOE Wheeljack is my absolute favorite design for the character. I really like Que as well but there’s something about the AOE design that just screams awesome. The BB Movie design is up there as well as one of the best.

The head’s lack of eyes feels VERY G1 toy inspired to me, since the original toy basically just had a slinky-faceplate rather than the more familiar slinky-mouth we all know.
Legend said If you pull his fin you are gonna be chosen as the next Prime (The Touch soundtrack included).

After killing it with ROTF and HFTD, I was so disappointed with DOTM. The figures didn’t look screen accurate anymore; except Soundwave and Q, and they got canned for the US.

(Sorry, but I'm pretty fed up about the fact Hasbro is giving us pointless retools and redecos recently instead of finishing the cast of the Live Action movies and 1986. With guys like Hound, AOE Bumblebee, some KSI Decepticons, TLK Megatron, and of course Que/Wheeljack, plus more, are waiting for a figure, and Hasbro doesn't seem to want to make more).
I feel we are going to get Que next year.
Hopefully, and the other good thing is that this will save our credit cards for a little longer.

I agree with AOE Bee (hopefully the High-Octane version, cuz thats the superior Bayverse Bee design) & DotM Wheeljack, but I hope he could be like this one (in the vid), or at least make Que, then make Wheeljack as a retool/repaint/whatever its called cuz Que is mega ugly & I'd like them to make a cool (proper) Wheeljack as a reuse of the mold! & when you said Hound, did you mean 86 Hound or Bayverse Bulkhead/Not Hound? If 86 Hound then I wholeheartedly agree!

Transformers having the same look sense g1 would have gotten extremely repetitive it’s either you use them as a base to do something semi new or modify it heavy and or just do something completely new

Personally, I kinda liked his DOTM design. The Einstein look kinda fits given his intelligence.
IMO the whole Einstein look doesn't fit cuz hes a scientist, while Wheeljack is strictly an inventor. Tbh Wheeljack is more like Dr. Doofinshmirtz than Einstein. & I agree abt the 1st part, everyone, literally everyone would've been happier if this design was in DotM.

Og Wheeljack and Wheeljack in the Bumblebee opening scene are perfect. Why do they feel the need to alter these things? And 99% of the time for the worse. The only redesign that made a character look better was changing Bee to the camaro. Everything else is just why....

While I get where your coming from and pretty much agree. I'd say your being too hard on Pablo. He's a good design just not what I'd consider Wheeljack. Que on the other hand is where I'd use the term "abomination".

2:23 Even though those designs were overall very cohesive and perfectly translated the G1 designs into bodybuilders. The RoTB recreation/modified Optimus is still muscular, and yet he looks (and is eluded to) like an emaciated version of the Bumblebee design. The native designs for most of bots should be alloted more time and effort to make them 100% unique, but making them Pablos is an absolute step back, because it's almost as if they aren't worth the same respect Optimus gets. Bumblebee having a cutified version of his Bayverse face should be dropped, because this new universe is past being a prequal (the reused sound effects pulled me out of the film). The prequal comic actually gave Bumblebee and new face, one that homages his IDW look. Instead of straying away from G1 for the sake of straying away from G1, take design ques from others versions of the bots. Battletrap looked cool, but what was so wrong with making him a duocon; I just know people would've loved seeing him split up into either individual vehicles modes or separate bots like in PoTP. Mirage's holograms were an excellent homeage to G1, just go for it.
Pablo looks awful, and simply pales in comparison to Wheeljack on Cybertron. Giving THAT a Hispanic accent is almost insulting.
I think people take the statement of “The Cybertron scene is added in the last minute” so seriously as if it wasn’t intentional in the first place. Even if you cut out that scene, Blitzwing still existed and he’s basically just a slightly remold Starscream. Optimus showed up in basically every flashback of Bee in his current form. Shatter and Dropkick goal would still be finding Optimus. Cliff jumper would still be the reason Dropkick and Shatter came to Earth and found Bee and they needed that Optimus hologram to know that the Autobots are coming so that they can build that device to alert the Decepticons. And you need that Optimus scene at the end to set up ROTB. If you said all of them were later added then you’ll have a bland movie without any contexts. Why is Bee on Earth ? Don’t know. How did the Decepticons find him ? Don’t know. Why are they after him ? Don’t know. And why do they need to build that device to alert the Decepticons. No idea. All you have is a mute robot with amnesia for some reasons are chased by 2 other robots and the government at the same time without explanation. They always had those designs on frame ready to go and just started animating them when they think the movie needed more context.

My only issue with Que is the fact that he is suppised to be Wheeljack. I don't even know where did thay came from, couse they never call him that in the movie, but anyway. I love the design, and he was actually the main reason i wanted to rewatch DOTM after my first watch. It's a great design, just not a very good wheeljack
I'm surprised to see someone actually watching the movie just for Que. In all honesty, same for me. But it baffles me that he didn't get to do much other than give Ironhide a 2.0 of his other gun he has on his back and the humans boomsticks and grapple gloves. And also apparently he also upgraded Optimus and Bumblebee.

2:41 this is why I like to use the Bumblebee designs as the protoforms of our favorite characters. They look primitive because the blocky designs make them look like they are wearing armor. The same goes to WFC 2011 designs, they all look like protoforms.
Um, but protoforms are supposed to be thinner like in BW & TFA & other continuities. The BBM designs are their normal designs.
