  • Arriving at Dublin Airport, Ireland. Flying from Newcastle Airport, U.K. November, 2023.
    Dublin Airport (Irish: Aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath) (IATA: DUB, ICAO: EIDW) is an international airport serving Dublin, Ireland. It is operated by DAA (formerly Dublin Airport Authority). The airport is located in Collinstown, 7 km (4.3 mi) north of Dublin, and 3 km (1.9 mi) south of the town of Swords. In 2019, 32.9 million passengers passed through the airport, making it the airport's busiest year on record. It is the 12th busiest airport in Europe, and is the busiest of Ireland's airports by total passenger traffic; it also has the largest traffic levels on the island of Ireland, followed by Belfast International Airport.
    The airport has an extensive short and medium haul network, served by an array of carriers, as well as a significant long-haul network focused on North America and the Middle East. It serves as the main hub for Ireland's flag carrier Aer Lingus, and is a primary operating base for Europe's largest low-cost carrier Ryanair. British charter airline TUI Airways also operates a base at the airport.
    United States border preclearance services are available at the airport for U.S.-bound passengers. Shannon Airport is the only other airport in Europe to offer this facility.

    Flying to here from Bristol on my own in March so this is extremely useful. Thank you!

      It's a big airport. It takes a while to get through it. But it's pretty self-explanatory. I've only been through this airport twice and I never got lost in there

      @@MetroMark Excellent to know, thank you! I'll have someone meeting me at arrivals so it's just getting through this bit on my own which seems simple enough :).

    Hi! I’m landing in Dublin airport in a few weeks from the US. Once landing, how long did it take from the plane to collect luggage and get a ride out of the airport?

    • @MetroMark
      @MetroMark  3 дні тому +1

      I'm not exactly sure because I take carry-on, so I don't have to wait for luggage. I would say maybe add 10 / 15 mins to the length of my video here, to account for the passport check and waiting for bags. As for taxis, I'm not sure because I took the bus into Dublin, which was pretty straightforward. I made a video about that on my other channel if you're interested

      @@MetroMark Rather stupid question if you don'y mind me saying so - depends when your bag was loaded and how busy the airport is when you arrive. Taxis are right outside, not very expensive but better value for 2+ people with baggage. There are multiple buses - you can book online 12-14 euro that go directly into town. Do your research for heavens sake - it's all on line. This video was shot at Terminal 1which is for local and short-haul flights. You will arrive in Terminal 2. The 16 bus stop is outside Terminal 1 a 5 min walk. 2 euro into town. Is slower than the other buses as is a local bus. If you plan to stay around Dublin for a few days get the Leap transit card at the store on your left as you exit into the arrivals hall. You can use your credit card. You can use this on the 15 bus right away. Numerous other buses stop out side direct to Cork, Belfast, Dublin etc.

    Is visa to visit Ireland required for US citizens? Or anyother paper work?

    • @MetroMark
      @MetroMark  3 місяці тому

      If you're a U.S. citizen travelling to Ireland, you'll require a valid passport, which remains valid until after completion of your scheduled trip. However, you won't require a visa for either tourist or business stays provided their duration is less than three months.
