*Unit 4: Scientific, Philosophical, and Political Developments (c. 1648 to c. 1815)*
BIG IDEAS
#1. Europeans’ understanding of the natural world developed and changed significantly as a result of the Scientific Revolution.
#2. Enlightenment thinkers applied the new methods of reasoning beyond the natural world to politics, society, and human institutions.
#3. The Agricultural Revolution and a sharp increase in population led to significant demographic change.
#4. European cultural and intellectual life was maintained and changed during this period because of the reading revolution, the emergence of neoclassical art, and the consumer revolution.
#5. Enlightenment thought influenced political power structures by introducing a new way for monarchs to rule: Enlightened Absolutism.
*Unit 5: Conflict, Crisis, and Reaction in the Late 18th Century (c. 1648 to c. 1815)*
BIG IDEAS:
#1. During this period the globalized economy and the competition it created accelerated and led to conflict as each of the major European maritime powers vied for dominance.
#2. The rivalry between Britain and France continued to increase and it led to major conflicts both on the European continent and throughout the world in their colonies.
#3. The French Revolution led to a fundamental reordering of the French state and society.
#4. The rise of Napoleon Bonaparte of France both preserved some aspects of the revolution and repudiated others, and through Napoleon's conquests, the map of Europe changed significantly.
#5. The Romantic Movement and religious revival challenged Enlightenment norms.
*Unit 6: Industrialization and Its Effects (c. 1815 to c. 1914)*
BIG IDEAS
#1. The Industrial Revolution fundamentally changed the political, social, and economic fabric of Europe. It began in Britain and then spread to the rest of Europe.
#2. The Industrial Revolution was not just a revolution in the way goods for sale were made, it also led to massive social changes as well.
#3. Europe experienced a rise of conservatism which worked very well as a rubric for those rulers that wanted to suppress nationalist and liberal revolutions.
#4. Various groups reacted against this new wave of conservatism.
#5. In response to the rapid changes Europeans were undergoing through the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution, they began exploring various new political ideologies.
#6. In response to the growing calls for reform, liberals shifted from a laissez faire approach to government to a more interventionist approach to economic and social problems.
Woah
ur so clutch dude
you are such a real one ily
can you do this for tomorrow's video as well
ILY
If you think you are cooked, I would recommend stopping at every part of a unit and trying to write a brief summary of it and two fun facts. I know we don’t have too much time left but just try doing this. Writing things down is more beneficial than trying to memorize everything. Good luck on the test
