There used to be a company in the USA called sticky no more and all they did was fix the sticky problem mainly Ferraris but other euro cars. 15 years later and the the Italians still havnt got their sticky problem sorted.
I bought a house with a garage, full mechanic shop and saved money not letting a dealership change the oil. Sarcasm aside, they wanted $735 to just change the oil after I had a 25k major service which was $3,500 (08' GT). The service was reasonable, but Huh! I never had any issue which I bought the car with 14k and sold it with 29k with a few problems (I had a Indy Xmasi mechanic) I sold it after I heard the costly camshaft variator clack ( Only once at 25k). The car was great and I give it a 8 outta' a 10.
Would suggest that you look at rectifying your driveway clearance issue with getting your local council to fix the problem. It appears to me that it has too steep of an incline & needs to be flatten/lowered for easier access for all vehicles. On the brake disc cost issue, recommend aftermarket replacement instead. A reputable brake specialist such as Race Brakes would be more than happy to assist. The discs are usually not made by the manufacturer but made & supplied by
StopTech might have a reasonable priced brake rotor to fit. Have you tried using rubbing alcohol on the sticky buttons. I cleaned all of the switches and trim in my 360 and it worked well. Only the vent ring arrows rubbed off.
Apologies Simon, I hit the wrong key & exited from my previous message by mistake. Have a feeling that the discs & brakes are supplied by Brembo as with most Euro cars are, so there should be availability locally at a much lower price than going thru the manufacturer, who only puts their mark up price on top. Brembo would have details on the correct size for your Maserati & you will find you have the choice of several options to choose from ie slotted/cross drilled or both. As I previously suggested, give Race Brakes a call.
Great car. Think the bill for $5,000 sorting all that, given fluids cost about the same big shop, small shop, that good value. My 2007 SL had sticky switches and orange cleaner (supermarket product) removes that broken down sticky clear top coat, without damage. Suggest use a soft cloth If you want to test I try it somewhere that is less prominent. I haven't done it but I imagine you can then put a new sealing coat over the surface. Me, I just keep my SL out of the sun as much as possible, especially with windscreen magnification. Hope this helps
Thanks yes I have used the citrus based cleaner before but never found it to be that effective unless the coating has completely disintegrated, hence wanted to leave it to the pros!
@@mguytv The lock control on the centre of the SL dash was effected by the sun over it times before me. As you know Europe's plastic and clear top coat formula's are not upto our high temperates & I think up levels. In lieu of paying nearly $2k from memory for a replacement unit I tried it weakly and gently over time and it came up well. Revisited progress a few months later and removed subsequent stickyness
Thinking even if you got say a 75% improvement while you wait for parts it might be worthwhile. Also invested in windscreen covers, and you get lots of laugh as you try to refold them.
I might go to sydney to pick up a grantursimo next month after I fly back to Australia, would love to meet up with another granturismo if u are free tho!
I just had to reply to an hour old comment on a video that's almost a year old. I'm picking up mine in 2 days. That thing is going to the grave with me. haha. What a car! Good luck with yours
Simon, very interesting as per usual. My 2011 QP5 GTS has the ZF Auto and is supposed to be a fully enclosed box - the oil never needs changing! I am looking for someone reputable in Melbourne to change the gearbox oil as I am not comfortable NOT changing the gearbox oil. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I think it's for the side airbag which is located in the door. Bc take a look in a quattroporte from 2006. The front passenger airbag is in a similar "open"
@@mguytv Ouch, that feels low. Makes me think the clutch is too small for the power of the engine or someone's doing a few too many launches from a stop. ;-)
getting your gearbox serviced every single year is ludacris. this dude must be making money had over fist making everyone do services way before they are due
Simon, Great information thank you. I rather like like your guy's servicing thesis, I will suggest it to my chap next time round. I agree those brake rotor anticipatory costs are eye watering.. Have run my 2008 GT since 2014 with one resurface like this... comparable costs. Brakes still fine. Gummy buttons occuring here too, neat alcohol seems to help a little, go everso gently. Love your channel Simon.. keep it up. Andrew

I have 2011 gran turismo S and wondering how you deal with battery drainage issue? Any solution?
I find I can leave mine for up to a week and it seems to be ok, but I generally put on a battery tender every time she’s in the garage.

I asked Vittorio, he says change it every 60/70k km - "no such thing as lifetime sealed"
@@mguytv Thank you for checking. I just need to find someone in Melbourne to do the job for me now.
@@philnash9119 Are you still looking? I know a great mechanic here in Melbourne i take my exotics to!

Whoa awesome just found this! I just put a holding deposit on a GT in QLD! So 5k but half was for the rotor machining ?
My neighborhood dealer in US charges 3.600 US for the gosh and 3k to replace the pads, insane, but shows that price is not that bad comparatively.
Machining specofically should account for no more than a couple hundred of the price
Simon I thought you used the guy in Artarmon for your previous GT? If so why the change?
Vittorio was highly recommended by the Maserati Club and so far he has 100% lived up to expectations
what is that cut-out area on top of the drivers door sill? It looks like it can open...

How many KMs on the car? Curious as your clutch is at 40%...
34k km

Sticky buttons you can clean an fixed user W40

I do the same drop all the oils and change them annually
The guy smoking in the workshop @ 1.40 and then throwing the ciggy on the floor takes a bit off the edge of the workshop standard expectations!
I am pretty sure he was just a customer rather than an employee
