I think it's fair you can choose whichever free 4 star you want from clearing abyss. Aside from lynnette, there's only 3 others so the chance of getting the anemo you need is pretty slim

I quote Java: "When it comes to xiangling, collei, kachina and lynette: What we're going to do is, every time that i complete an archon quest after the Mondstadt archon quest, we get to choose one of those to add to the account." I think he should at least try and stick to the rules he set for the account. Getting characters for clearing abyss was not part of those. If there's really no anemo on the acc after pulling in 5.1 2nd half, and the account is hard-stuck, i think it would be fair to allow to get lynette early in for clearing floor 8.

Don't worry too much about using black tassel on chev. It's genuinely one of her better weapon options cause of the hp stat. Edit: Java is a insane gamer. It takes a very high level of skill to beat the dreaded 2nd floor of the abyss. Edit 2: I think it's fine if you are able to choose whichever free 4 star after each milestone. Especially if it would make progression on the account easier. Would suck to see you roadblocked by the same things as the other more limited challenge accounts you've done. I'm thinking back to the anemo pinwheel on geo only and the cryo monument from catalysts only.
Getting Lynette would be great for your overload team, as she can act as a pyro/electro applicator. I even use her in my Kinich team, I'd build her with decent ER
I definitely think it’s fair to claim Lynette instead of Xiangling for the abyss run! With so few anemo characters available and with your luck it could take months before u get one through a banner otherwise😅

Java, so great gamer, so good! As far as doing something that unlocks a new claimable four star giving you the option of which unclaimed claim you use, hmm... We know the Xil/Chiori banners do not include an anemo four star. Maybe the second half will? But then you still need to have favorable RNG. And while normally a good chunk of the fun is watching you suffer, here, there really isn't much suffering to be had. So, maybe just add a time based safety net? Like right now, you still have plenty of leveling to do, so you're good for a while, but, say, if no anemo is won by the end of 5.1, then you are good to unlock Lynette regardless? Time based might actually be a better way to go all around for those unlocks... 1 per patch, rather than 1 per archon quest.
Please use any method you desire to get Lynette already and move on with the Archon Quest, we've been stuck on it on so many of your account it would feel so good to just, do it, no reinventing the wheel, no weird glitches, just use the anemo character on the anemo thingy

Don’t get xangling! She’s basically a 5 star anyway and this is 4 stars only so get your free lynette and go do the archon quest! (Or get collei and do a burning team for the giggles)
3:02 Pretty much just build HP and ER on her, as her atk% buff and healing both scales with HP, while her 40% res shred for pyro and electro is only reliant on yoru team only containing those two elements and triggering overload consistently (honestly you could quickswap with Lisa if you don't get Fischl), btw get 40k HP on her
and you only need ER if u want to burst on her every rotation, but isnt necessary if u just want her to heal, since its her skill that heals! burst just gives a bit of damage (unless u build her for damage) and a burst of pyro application
I'd say you can only take Xiangling after making it through Inazuma's first and second chapter, since the region doesn't provide you with a complimentary 4* character, but that would be the general timeframe a freebie would be handed out. That way, you can spread your characters out a little bit, and have more opportunities to really experiment.
i think that you are allowed to claim lynette instead of xiangling or collei once you clear it, since like in other challenges if you cant pass the archon quest theres not rly much content and eventually it will just be artifact grinding :)
If you can and ALLOWED to get characters from the shop, then save the starglitter and wait until a character you want comes then you'll be able to but it

wenshu inn is actually a secret base zhongli made for xiao so could have a building to sleep in while he haunts for demons in liyue. still xiao has no idea it was made specifically for him and by morax' order so.. let's keep it secret lol
Investing into Lisa is not a bad idea since she's pretty good with the Dendro 4 stars (YaoYao who can apply dendro and is a healer, Collei is not the best at dendro application but you still get her for free so she's an option) and you can run her in a Quick/Hyperbloom team. Additionally, with another hydro unit and Beidou she can be in a Taser team. She's still a pretty good 4 star to level.

I think you could save yourself the mental energy, claim all the free characters, and only allow yourself to use the free 4* once they're C1, that way you're still relying on banner luck
Black Tassel is good on Chevy, especially due to her 2nd passive (1% ATK for every 1k hp points, max 40% ATK boost for the team) so it's not bad as a 'future investment' unless you want to run fav on her (if you'll even get it) because of the energy issues on your team I love your videos, thank you
Unironically i think you will and probably already are having tons more fun with this account/challenge than with the other two and frankly speaking who wouldn't, as someone who literally uses everyone in the game including 4* aswel as Trav main and Aloy main(yeah i know how to deal little dmg shut it) it is genuinely extremely fun to stop playing the rlly meta Neuvilette or Arlechino and so on characters and just use the ones you hardly ever use, it sort of feels like you play the game for the first time again. Remember that nice feeling we had at first in Genshin back when you didn't know shit about it but you had tons of fun for some reason? Yeah it's sort of similar.

You said yourself that this series is about using characters that you haven't used before, so getting Lynette instead of Xiangling sounds like a great idea. It's also a lot more entertaining since everyone knows how to build and use Xiangling, but most don't have experience using Lynette in the early game.
For the anemo thingy in liyue. If you activate the windwheel in co-op it teleports you down because the game doesnt consider it a "safe" surface. If you put a bear trap on the platform and stand on it while leaving co-op it actually doesnt teleport you down and lets you continue the quest! :D (I dont know if co-op is allowed but its a funny mechanic nonetheless)
Even when you get the very good 4-stars try to not only use them. Its a great opportunity to see the potential of some of the unpopular characters and make teams with the ones that are not used often.

3:04 black tassel is actually quite a good weapon for chevreuse, i dare to say best in slot if your team has no energy issues, but if it does its generally among the better options with just fav and the 4.5 event weapon being better
btw chevreuse on black tassel is practically her best option other than favonious lance. the hp buff is already good especially at her 2nd passive where u need at least 40k hp to utilise her dmg buff

I wouldn't change your free 4* rules. Archon quest - claim free 4*. Try to stick to them. Only exception is if 5.1 does not grant you an anemo character and you get softloked. Then either claim Lynette after clearing Abyss floor X (at least floor 4, if not higher, someone suggested floor 8) as a joker and don't claim one after completeing the archon quest... ...or don't do an exception for getting them and just use Traveler for the unlock. One click, that's it, you can banish him afterwards (we can look away for that second...). One click is a tiny little accident, I don't think it counts if you are really locked and tried everything...(different from unlocking a domain with him, that would be bad). Other than that: I've never seen someone to complete floor 2 with so much skill with only 4*! (And I like your voice...and you videos are always really entertaining!)
Chev buff also scales on HP so black tassel perfect for her dont worry! I use black tassel on her sometimes too if my team has energy problems (if not, fav is best for her since you will always proc the passive even at low ref). Run noblesse on her with ER sands and you should be good to go.
The method of not instantly claiming Xiangling after unlocking her is a cool idea. That would make it so you don't get too many characters too fast, and also allows to to freely chose when you want to claim her eventually

I think the idea of claiming Lynette when you reach the Xiangling milestone makes sense, and will honestly be so much better for account progession, considering your limits on getting characters. I think being stuck on not being able to complete the archon quest and having no way but chance to get an anemo character is just not fun.
