Thank you SOOOO MUCH! My father played this when i was a little girl all the time. Since he past, I wasn't able to remember the name or anything. So Happy I found this. It brings back such great memorize. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Cheers.
Love for your father ❤️
Anette Puskas Where are you from? Your father was Brazilian? Just out of curiosity
Wow you have good father.
Oh what good news😄
It's challenging for sure and very bright and nice. Your father knew how to pick a piece that would delight a little girl.
Hahaha... Que execução perfeita! Me motiva mais ainda a estudar.
O piano é o "rei" dos instrumentos musicais. Concorda?
:)
@@franciscodiniz4092 ah!
Nice
Como é bom ver a música do meu país valorizada!
Impossível não valorizar essa maravilha! :D ;)
musica linda
Mr. Barton!
What a great musician you are!
I have the greatest admiration for you!
And what piano technique you possess!!!
You are able to play almost anything.... the Chopin etudes, the “48”, and so on. WHAT A GIFT!!!
You are BLESSED.
I am a physician and l started learning to play the piano at age 17 yeas; that was the time l arrived to England to attend boarding school and thereafter medical school. I have been in the USA in 1970.
I have developed arthritis, murderous insomnia and 24/7 FATIGUE which prevents me from playing the piano. Please, keep up the magnificent work.
I was looking for a Foreigner playing tico tico no fubá with brazilian flavour and rithym . How so elegant and majestic! That's you, Sir. Thanks!
if you see Hercules Gomes playing this you will definitely love it take a look in this link pls. hope you like it : ua-cam.com/video/oUqBSDicOE8/v-deo.html
@@vivonasnuvens I know Hercules Gomes. He is the best "pianeiro" like he use that Word.
This is FUN.
Positively
This is Brazil suckers!
Yeah you are right
In my opinion, that’s the magic of this pice. Its title can remind of the scenario the song proposes: a bird having fun with a sack of fubá. The melody helps giving the final touch for the fun situation.
Muito bom
Aí sim! Isto é Brasil! Obrigado, Zequinha de Abreu! Curvo-me diante de ti! Grato pela postagem do vídeo!
This is probably my favorite piece from a foreign country. Every time I hear it it brings a smile to my face
yes
É o poder de Zequinha de Abreu! Sua música é pura luz! ❤

Beautiful Brazilian masterpiece. I'll start studying it because of you. Thanks a lot.
As a sugestion, try "Pintinhos no terreiro" by the same author.
Amei.
Hi, I'm Brazilian and I follow your channel. I find your daughter impressively good at rhythm and intonation. She is a talent!
Paul is a master and this is just a marvellous classic Brazilian "ragtime". Nothing better. No wonder it is famous!
I've found my new favorite piano piece....for now. 😄
Shania Clayton Try O Gaucho by Chiquinha Gonzaga, that's nice too~
Shania Clayton same here. I never knew the name of this music until I came here .
a piece you think sounds great might sound like shit to others. he is merely letting us know he liles this piece, thats not an invitation to cram other pieces down his throat

I quit piano recently, but this sounds so good and theres only like 50 measures (one of them just being one octave higher of the same thing). Gotta get back to piano and play this

Don't stop my friend, a mistake I've made. It will take years now for my fingers and brain get back to what it was before...I missed so much it was making me sick! had to start over.
Why would you quit piano if you have the level to play this piece ?
There are so many details in your performance that make it so worthwhile to listen to. Great job!
You are greatest Pianist!! Thank you so much for your performance!!
I'm glad to be a professional. Excellent performance,

Golly! All those repeats have got my fingers dropping off, and I am only LISTENING to you, Paul!
Thank you for your splendid performance.
I play only the popular music version, which is written in quavers, not semis, and has a somewhat simpler left hand.
But I couldn't please my Daddy. He wanted Ethel Smith playing her celebrated Hammond organ version. (It's here on UA-cam.)
Beautifully articulated, Paul Barton, and your dynamics are fantastic. Thanks for sharing. You are very inspirational to me in my own piano studies. :-)

SPLENDID!
I remember this from my childhood decades ago!!
Wonderful performance, Paul !!
I always smile when I listen to this piece!
Merveilleux!! Très impressionnant et tres musicale!
That took me back forty years. I played this song when living in Brazil around 1981. There’s a page on the internet somewhere with like a hundred different renditions of the song which is pretty interesting to listen to. This was nicely played. I especially liked the off beat accents.
Do you have a link for that page ?
I'm interested.
I'm learning this piece. I learned a simplified version earlier, but now I'm learning this version. It's a great song!
This is such a fantastic piece.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!
Preciso limpar o meu Tico Tico....... Sururu também.... O seu sempre impecável ! Muito virtuoso !
Sounds like Brazilian ragtime music
Lance Clark, that’s basically what it is haha
It's called "choro" or "chorinho"
You can feel Scott Joplin there, a little Mozart too, Alla Turca.
That's exactly what it is. It was written in 1917, at the end of the Ragtime Era in the US, but in Brazil, where it was written, that's what composers were trying to emulate at the time.
@@bobcrestwood740 Brazilian composers were not really trying to emulate ragtime... This is a very specific brazilian style called Choro (or Chorinho), from where samba evolved, and it actually precedes ragtime. Like ragtime, though, it's a mix of african syncopated rhythm with western music, that's why they sound somewhat similar. It was really popular in Brazil from around 1880 to 1920, when samba took over. For more pieces in this style, look for the works of Ernesto Nazareth and Chiquinha Gonzaga, you will enjoy it.
Muito empolgante! Execução perfeita!👏👏👏👏
So perfect! Thank you! I will be listening to this recording often!!
Wow Tico Tico! I play this since I was a kid, it is very popular here, it's so fun, you nailed it, great stuff! Cheers from Brazil!
This is a fun piece of music to listen to! Search for 'Duo Siqueira Lima' - too. They play Tico Tico on one guitar - 4 hands exchanging.
yeah, I saw that, so cool!
ha! primeiro brasileiro que vejo nesse canal kkkk, um dia eu chego nesse nível..

Wonderful spirited rendition! Thanks Paul!
Holy crap this sounds amazing! Time to practice.
Superb! Thanks, Paul Barton!!
Uau! Que swing! Muito bem executado!
Thanks for your video. I really enjoy hearing brazilian music by piano.
I love this piece. What a wonderful rendition. Thank you.
Great version of Tico-Tico ! Whenever I hear this tune it reminds me of the way I first heard it - at the hands of the original Queen of the Hammond - Ethel Smith who played it in a Movie & recorded it. Well worth a listen for those who like the tune.
Don't laugh, I saw that movie (can't think of the name)and while I felt the musical number was very well-done and made an impression on the audience, the Hammond Organ just sounded feeble. Piano would have been a better choice.
It's true that you may need to like the Hammond sound to fully appreciate the Ethel Smith version. It's also clear that in a film about bathing beauties in that day, Ethel Smith would end up in the film. What counts today is probably that most listeners know the tune because of her. Her instrumental album including this tune sold well in the day.😎
@@klavier1us I totally agree and please don't think I am undermining Ethel Smith's virtuosity on the organ. She played jazz at a time when the usual organ fare was Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor". ( not sure about key of Bach). Her performance in the movie was a show-stopper and "she swung it out of the park."
Absolutely great! Hope you play more brazilian music!
Love you Paul, starting the day with your music.
One of my favourite tunes for over 50 years. Fantastic version. Thanks Paul.
Brasil muito bem representado!

Wonderful interpretation! Greetings from Brazil =D
My sister played this. Also all Jan August piano. My sister could play anything by ear. Enjoyed performing. I played for our radio station but once. Thought it would be a breeze. Sat at the piano. Froze.
Adorei. Obrigada.
I love you man. I love your approach. I love your methodical way and lack of body expression during playing. I wish you were my teacher
Very nice precise and light, Paul! This gives a lovely contrast to the so many muddled versions on YT.
I hope you havn't forgot the Hamelin version I sent you!!
Bravo, Paul Barton! Viva o Brasil!
That's it. It's great. Abreu Zequinha is a great composer!

well played, cheers from Brazil!
I loved how you edited the video! Making Played parts toned down a bit made it a lot easier for us to play xD
thank you, Paul! Congrats!!
I love this song, and such a great arrangement! I'm going to try learning it myself.
This sounds like so much fun to play
Outstanding. Musical and clearly defined.
I remember picking this piece up and it being much more difficult than it sounded, and I was playing Maple Leaf Rag, Rachmaninoff preludes etc. I have to say though it is a great pity Paul chose not to become a concert pianist because his interpretations are some of my most favourite of all. This piece is a delight with the light tough for the melody quite unlike all the other pieces on UA-cam.
Paul you should release a CD because you are certainly wasted just teaching and producing you tube content.
brilliantly played...wonderful.
Very good! I loved it! The music of my country very well performed. Happy to hear this CHORINHO outside Brazil! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So much life in it!
Bom demais ouvir nossa música.

It's so oddly familiar yet it sound so new and exciting.
One of the late Carmen Miranda's signature songs. Very nicely played here - thanks for posting it.
