Love, love, love your videos!! I love having a card sketch and I really love when you show how to alter the sketch by switching to angle or orientation. I love seeing a few details, but mostly general elements to the sketches. It’s then fun to see how you can alter the look of the sketch but switching the focal point or background, etc. Thanks again for all your hard work❤
These cards make me smile. So sweet. I love the idea of using card sketches, but don't know that I've actually done so. I just ordered this e-book and one of the previously released ones. What first gains my interest is seeing a finished sample using the sketch. I appreciate you providing multiple examples. It helps me dissect the individual components when looking at the sketch itself. Many thanks for the inspiration.
Another fabulous series! Thank you again for all the time and love you put into designing the sketches and making suggestions for avoiding "design and color fatigue". I'm having great fun with creating cards family and friends love. This year, my SIL texted me a thank you for Christmas and said I make the most beautiful cards. Wow. I'm passing on the thanks for creating these videos that have totally elevated my little creations.
Hello, Andrea here... As always, loved it and thank you for sharing. Not sure if I missed some videos but has it been a while since you made a video? Please don’t stop, I enjoy your videos. I noticed that Bridget does not do any painting.. she was my other go to for inspiration. Thanks Jill. Hugs, Andrea.
Jill your Sketches are perfect from my view! Always a fun focal point, always an outstanding 'backup singer', and it all fits so well within - or outside of - the frame! You got my juices kickstarted yesterday - thanks so much! =]
Hi Jill! Another great video! Thanks! While I love the umbrella and flower cards, my heart is drawn to the dancing card. The girl is so cute and the colors are soft and beautiful! Kudos to the designer of that stamp! And kudos to you for creating such a sweet card! Can't hardly wait for your next show and tell!
Such fun, happy and beautiful cards. It's hard to pick a favorite when you love them all. Thanks for sharing your time and talent. Look forward to your videos. ❤❤
Love love love all your tutorials!! As for design suggestions, do you have children on a swing? My grandkids love swinging! I have boughten many of Penny Black stamps with children. Added wobblers for them to interact!
I just love the way you paint. You are my number one painter with watercolors and markers. I have a question on the Strathmore smooth 140 pound paper that you use.somebody told me it’s only for acrylic markers or paints and it can’t be used for watercolor. I noticed that you use it and I love the way your paintings look on that paper. Am I wrong that it’s just for acrylic paints? I appreciate your response Barbara.
Thank you, Barbara! For most watercolor painting I use Canson 140 Lb. Cold Press Watercolor paper- it is designed for watercolors. I use the Strathmore Bristol smooth when I am stamping with markers and just adding a touch of watercolor for extra shading. But you can use whatever works best for you. I walk you through my thought process on paper in this video, perhaps it might help: ua-cam.com/video/vnOrFIvf0WU/v-deo.htmlsi=vHfNeRw1o0Yj6bdk Happy creating!
I like both of the cards with kids as have 9 great grandkids to make cards for. Not sure I like the toffee crunch for skin tones though. What would be your 2nd choice??? Edna Burgess
Hi Edna! Congrats on all of those great grandkids. I'm sure they LOVE your cards!! You could try a very watered down mix of Dried Marigold and Spun Sugar Distress Ink reinkers for skin tones. Also, perhaps with a bit of Gathered Twigs, too. Happy creating!
Thanks, Audrey. In my opinion the reinkers are more concentrated ink but you can use any type of watercolor (or markers, colored pencils, etc.) Here is a video where I'm using a watercolor that goes in the pans: ua-cam.com/video/vAk9-qzGoI4/v-deo.htmlsi=gD6OwcozCvSpBCQ1 Happy creating!
There are no rules. :) I find it's mostly what you get used to and practice with that works best. Different brushes will hold different amounts of water which can impact the approach and dilution of paint and how it moves on the paper.

All of the cards are so pretty. I have never really done a card sketch. Most of my ideas seem to come to me in the middle of the night. 😂🤷

All of them are adorable!
I just ordered some items from the new release and Iam excited to try water coloring, but will use watercolors in little pans. I hope it works.
I'm sure it will- there are no rules! :)

I know that Jill uses reinters for her water coloring. Do reinters work differently than say pan watercolors. I only have one or two reinters.
I was looking at the paint brush you use, expensive, can you use other types with the same results?
There are no rules. :) I find it's mostly what you get used to and practice with that works best. Different brushes will hold different amounts of water which can impact the approach and dilution of paint and how it moves on the paper.
Love all of them.
Thank you, Audrey!
