  • In this video we return to the East Coast HO Exhibitors Society's (ECHOES) model train setup and simulate a day on the railroad with numerous yard jobs, locals, and through freight trains. We follow a local crew for a day out on the high iron switching biofuel and petroleum customers. The local job is powered by a CSX SD40-3, the model of which was produced by ScaleTrains. Numerous ScaleTrains GE locomotives also make an appearance, including Norfolk Southern Heritage ES44ACs 8099 and 8100 as well as CSX "Spirit of our First Responsers" ES44AH 911. This video has it all - yard jobs shuffling cars, locals working the last mile, and mainline freights flying on the double track layout!

Nice to see the new modules on the ECHOES layout and that the club is still using my old modules. You actually have at least two FRA violations, the two haz mat tank cars behind the locomotive, and the broken and bent stirrup steps on the LSIX 140 tank car causing the coupler to be out of spec. Thanks for the video and bringing back memories of the ECHOES club.

@@ThomasKlimoski thanks Tom! Good catch on the LSIX 140 haha. Will send it on the Rip track. Your modules and Heritage Furniture are among my favorites on the club. We're very happy to continue using them.

FRA rule. if it is a local you must have one or two non hazmat behind the locomotives. road train you must have at 5 to 6 non hazmat cars behind the trailing unit and for mid dpu you must have it between non hazmat cars.

@@foreverconrail local or road is 5 buffers but again on the both if you dont have 5 buffers it isnt just one or two you take as many buffer cars available notice on unit key trains like ethanol and crude oil trains sometimes only one buffer not 5

@@foreverconrail yes - in the case of this switch job one suffices. But the need for a buffer wasn't quite keyed in when they built it using JMRI

cant tell if those tanks are hazmat cars but if they are thats differently the problem the two hoppers should of been in the front

Very possibly so 🤔 yes; this was the first time Amerigas is a customer on the layout so special instructions will be part of the operations plan in future sessions.

I thinking that none of those tankers have any kind of shelve couplers on any of them. I'm guessing lpg is a hazmat and per fra rules should be on there per prototypes, just a guess.
