When the dude that plays hundreds of hours of the garbage that Super Expert Mario Maker says that a game is "extraordinarily hard," you know it's going to be good
With this plus the races with DGR you've been doing, you're training right up for an Awful Block segment at GDQ. Also, AVGN is a legend. Awesome content creator - love that you're paying tribute to him. Hope this series really takes off!
Ryu's reaction time to to the pumpkin at 12:28 is pretty impressive. He can tell he's screwed when the thing has just been on the screen for a few frames.
I remember this game way back in the day; it was impossible then, too. 😊 As hard games go, this one always confused me; as a comic book nerd of some knowledge, I am very well aware of who the Silver Surfer is, and how powerful he is intended to be, so for so many things to exist that can one-shot the Herald of Galactus, and his Power Cosmic, was ludicrous to me, even then. Still, after watching you blast through a number of fan-made, intentionally gimmicky levels of certain games, it is somewhat comforting to see you struggle with this, Hudson's AI, and some of the other titles in the series. Hope you keep on playing!
The thing I love about you Ryu is even the hardest of games you seem to do very well on them. Id love to see how you would do on Ghosts n' Goblins or Super Ghouls n' Ghosts. Those games were a nightmare for me as a child. I nearly beat Super Ghouls n' Ghosts but I was a 12 hour straight marathon with the help of Game Genie.
All I could think was Michael Bluth saying to Tobias: "buy yourself a tape recorder…you’d be surprised at some of your phrasing”. No time stamps, they are hidden gems.
Ryu, The music in this game reminds of a ridiculously hard game for the NES called solstice. It haunted me as a kid, so if you could beat it, you would literally be exorcising the demons. The any% speedrun is 5.44 so its possible for one vid. keep it up
A Tv Tropes comment (that went like You die, die, die, die, die...) lead me to YT, which I did not know at the time. I watched that AVGN review, and the rest is history. Feels strange, 15 years later (practically, another lifetime, to add) that I'm watching Ryu going over those games.
As long time AVGN fan it's nice to see this one pop up after a while, I still remember this game from one of the early episodes. Even on NES standards this must be one of the toughest games out there, and playing it without a turbo controller is just hard core! Some of my favourite tough games from the past include original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Castlevania for NES, and B. O. B. and Earthworm Jim for SNES. :)
Really diggin this series idea. Some suggestions: Comix Zone (Genesis) Adventure Island (NES) Chakan: The Forever Man (Genesis) Shinobi (PS2) Jewel Master (Genesis) Strider (NES) Hagane (SNES) Earthworm Jim (any of them) I think it would rule to see you play any of the above. They’re fun games to watch.
Love this game. It took me a fair bit of effort to get through it, so I'll leave some tips for anyone that might be attempting this. - Start with Reptyle every time. It's the easiest level and will allow you to get fully powered up. - General rule of thumb is if you can't shoot through something, don't touch it. Walls, terrain, etc. - This is definitely one of those games where dying is EXTREMELY punishing. "Don't die" seems like unnecessary advice, so I'll simply say to be prepared to die A LOT instead. - Most of the game is very scripted. Those hands in Mephisto fire their projectile randomly, but for the most part you can predict everything that will happen once you're familiar enough with the game. That first point is the most important. The powerups are the key to making every other level more manageable, so once you can blaze through that one without much trouble, it'll give you a chance to start working through the others. I can beat this on one continue these days, but it took a ton of practice to get there; you can do it too!
Super R-Type and Super EDF are two of my favorite difficult SNES games. In terms of difficulty, Super EDF is about a 7, and Super R-Type is a 9. Both very fun.
I’m late to this playlist, but MAAAAAAAAN I cracked up!!! You just got a taste of my childhood. Imagine playing that game at 10 years old, with NO heads up. TMNT is the next vid... haha, hope you used Donatello for most of the game 😂
I do not know how I stumbled upon this video. But surprisingly, Silver Surfer was one of about 10 NES games out of about 100 (that I played/rented) that I actually beat. I lost my shit and my dad didn't have a clue what I was carrying on about. He said something like, "GOOOOOOD!!!!! Now go to bed and quit making so much damn noise." He clearly was not impressed. lmmfao I should make him watch this video, so can finally see what his 14 year old son accomplished all those years ago.
Sega's Shadow Dancer, on Hard Mode. There's a doggo, ninjutsu, super hard mode (no shuriken), extra life stages, epic boss battles, secret 1-UPs, and the works. :3
From the Nerds collection: - Ghosts and goblins - Transformers (famicom) - battletoads - Batman (Nes) - ninja gaiden - street fighter 2010 - dr Jekyll and mr Hyde :-)
Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril & Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment are extremely hard NES 8-bit "homebrew" games similar to the Mega Man NES games, and they're awesome. They were rated 4.53 and 4.6 out of 5 on difficulty on GameFAQs (NES Ghosts N Goblins was rated a little bit harder at 4.73, NES Ninja Gaiden 3 easier at 4.41). One hit and you're dead and have to start back at the checkpoint. There are five difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Unfair! Normal mode has unlimited continues and passwords. Unfair mode is no continues, no passwords...one hit and you start over at beginning of the game!
Battle Kid 1 or 2. They are newly developed NES games, not hacks, and are really hard but actually good. Plus you can get them on badass transparent green cartridges.
I feel like that defeated Silver Surfer every monday
...today is monday
I feel that way every day I wake up.
Ewery wednesday
....today is monday
Any better now?
Because I'd give almost ANYTHING to go back to 3 years ago.
When the dude that plays hundreds of hours of the garbage that Super Expert Mario Maker says that a game is "extraordinarily hard," you know it's going to be good
dzeeff Lmfao
Love u Ceeeeeemo
hey dzeeff! huge fan
Small world, damn lmao. Big fan of Master Saga
Back in the days when Ryu was much less family friendly.
Fuck yeah
YT weren't such dicks back in the day
@@pearkore6821 They (YT) really like choosing corporate companies over the groundwork of their own franchise.
@@TheGar393 we can only hope it will be their downfall
Sailor Mouth Ryu
i love playing games like these, so give me MOAR SUGGESTIONS
ryukahr Zombies Ate My Neighbors?
Super smash tv, WITH A GUEST FOR PLAYER 2 :)
ryukahr Ryu Play Pokemon Go just for the hell of it!
Alec Steve this one is awesome dude! Yea, thumb up for Zombies ate my neighbors!!!
ryukahr Trap adventure 2
The "F" power up is for you.. you are paying yourself respect for how hard you are about to get beat
You mean how hard you're about to get "F"ucked
So weird hearing you swear after discovering you through Mario Maker lol.
"Just unload on his face"
Ryu
2018
"I know guys come from the rear at some point"
"Guys come from the rear at some point." 😏
- also Ryu
2018
"Mmm... Can I touch that?" -Ryu
Dodge the balls don't try to take them on

MaxMckayful Same here!
Now THIS is a series I can get used to!
Burger Broeders Saem
Was just gonna watch my regular AVGN episode when I saw an ad for ryu, madness.
Same
woah that’s so weird i got this in an ad but i’m subbed
Same lmao, I was like wtf
Yeah I finally watched it after like a month of seeing this in an ad
"just unload on his FACE"
The best parts of Ryu is when he is completely oblivious to what he's saying sometimes lololol
Love the subtle nod to AVGN with your “what were they thinking” comment 😏
So *this* is what those Silver Surfer remarks in the last Super Ryu World 2 vid were hinting at
Nice to see a new series! This will be entertaining.
And a suggestion for old school hard games.....Teenage mutant Ninja turtles the first nes one
"Just gotta be careful about those guys that shoot sh.t"
Wise words, my friends.
4:58 "were blindsided by some bullsh! t 😂😂
Why did I get an ad for this 2 YEARS LATER!
Rip buttons
Rip faping hand
No I'm pretty sure you're supposed to push them.
I just got this video recommend as an ad, after having already watched it, and every other video in this great series multiple times
Got this as an ad
Finally good ads!
Why is this an ad now? Lol
Playing these games has made control his anger a lot and only swear when he is super angry.
Ryu's reaction time to to the pumpkin at 12:28 is pretty impressive. He can tell he's screwed when the thing has just been on the screen for a few frames.
I'd love to see bubble bobble but it's a pretty long game, the WR is like 40-ish minutes
How come this is showing as an ad?
15:30 The whole time you were fighting the Fire Lord I thought he was flipping you off lol
May I suggest
Battle Toads
Battle toads isn't a hard game.. it's just 1 particular level that gives it that distinction
One particular level? Are you talking about Rat Race or Clinger Winger? Because if you mean Turbo Tunnel, you're wrong.
Jacob Johnson you evil!
civlover97 just saying, if I could beat it when I was like 14, it can't be that hard
Wrong
6:50 "just unload on his face!!"
Ooohh myyyy...

Am I the only one who just got this as an ad?
"Just unload on his face" 😂 pun intended
The music reminded me of Solstice. Turns out music for both was composed by Tim Follin!
About to binge watch this series for the second time ;)
I spent hours on the nes advantage with this game and what sustained me was the soundtrack. It was just so hard. This video is so satisfying.
Does anyone else remember this game “Super R-Type” from the SNES?
That game is hard as balls dude. & a lot of people have never beaten the game.
Michelle Lopez I had it for the GBA, I believe...
Yes very hard
Yo this showed up as an ad for me!
i dont know why this video is marked as an ad, but im not complaining
All I could think was Michael Bluth saying to Tobias: "buy yourself a tape recorder…you’d be surprised at some of your phrasing”. No time stamps, they are hidden gems.
I just got this like an ad before another video
19:43 that screen right there, just what AVGN told us years ago...
Why did you bought an ad?
6:55 "just unload on his face" hahah

That pumpkin that starts jumping at 11:38 becomes so sad at 11:43 when the Silver Surfer passes by without getting hit...

That "game over" screen after you lose a life sums up what playing this game feels like.
13:50 I bet one of the devs put that in without telling anyone else XD
SUB from ads, i like old school video games. keep it up bro
I hope you do more of these!! These stupid fund games bring back so many memories!
Love this game. It took me a fair bit of effort to get through it, so I'll leave some tips for anyone that might be attempting this.

Super R-Type and Super EDF are two of my favorite difficult SNES games. In terms of difficulty, Super EDF is about a 7, and Super R-Type is a 9. Both very fun.
Why is a 2 year old ryukahr video a video ad?
"Silver Surfer. More like Silver Shit."
Knowing you're an AVGN fan excites me greatly.
I’m late to this playlist, but MAAAAAAAAN I cracked up!!! You just got a taste of my childhood. Imagine playing that game at 10 years old, with NO heads up. TMNT is the next vid... haha, hope you used Donatello for most of the game 😂
2:27 I'm gonna stay up here so the fish can't get me!
2:29 Irony sets in 🤣😂
This video is the first time I ever heard Ryu drop an F bomb.
How have I been sleeping on this series!!!
I do not know how I stumbled upon this video. But surprisingly, Silver Surfer was one of about 10 NES games out of about 100 (that I played/rented) that I actually beat. This. Was. An. Ad.
“Silver surfer more like silver shit” 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 best outro ever
As a huge fan of you and AGVN I'm sooo much looking forward to these videos. Save jekyll and Hyde for way later ;)
2:55 that lizard looks like its taking a shit while reading a blue newspaper instead of shooting a blue gun or whatever its supposed to be
Loved the avgn reference in the end
I really enjoyed the video. Some others I'd like to see are
- Battletoads on the NES
- Journey of the Prairie King minigame in Stardew Valley
:)
isnt the praire king a high score based game?
3:48 holy shizz u diddit! 😯 Lol
Whatta brutal game lol 😆
Anyone else get this as an ad?
Dude, your videos rock. You have to be an expert gamer to get through two levels of that dumpster fire of a game.
I love the old school nes games Ryu! Thank you!!
Ryu 2018: says shit
Ryu 2020: says poop
😅
Sega's Shadow Dancer, on Hard Mode. There's a doggo, ninjutsu, super hard mode (no shuriken), extra life stages, epic boss battles, secret 1-UPs, and the works. :3
Man, I think that battletoads for nes without using the warps is a good challenge for a pro like you... keep doing this that is really amazing...
Careful with all that button mashing, you might get video game thumb!
Ryukahr vs Pros in Starcraft Brood war. Now THAT would be extraordinarily hard.
From the Nerds collection:
- Ghosts and goblins
- Transformers (famicom)
- battletoads
- Batman (Nes)
- ninja gaiden
- street fighter 2010
- dr Jekyll and mr Hyde :-)
Zombies ate my neighbour. It's not just difficult, but actually good.
this video gave me nostalgia trip down memory lane
If Ryukahr wants to dab into the hard-as-balls classic games, I dare him to take on Ghost 'n' Goblins for the NES. That game robbed my sanity.
Dude!!!!! I played that ridiculous game when I was a kid!!! I raged...everytime
I love your videos dude ! You're so chill and positive ! And i have a suggestion Kid chameleon really hard game, with fun idea.
Yes, please do play through Silver Surfer and also MORE NES GAMES!!! If I might make a humble suggestion, Vice Project Doom is fantastic :)
I beat the Super Star Wars trilogy (SNES) as a kid. Going back to it now, those games are basically impossible. Highly recommend them for this series.
Never heard of this game Ryu but I can't wait to watch it! Loving your super expert no skips and your streams!
I don't normally comment but HOLY SHIT I love this video and hope that this series will continue!
I'll never forget the fiery rectal pumpkins for as long as I live...
Watching this, I am reminded of Altered Beast, Contra, and Ikari Warriors. This looks like all three rolled into one game.
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs- SNES and Maximo - PS2 are the main two I'd love to watch you tackle.
Is this Super Expert?
"Eek the Cat" for SNES would be perfect for this series!
One of my favorite childhood games. Somehow don't remember it being difficult though.
You didnt even need to kill those faces spitting the fire
Ah, SIlver Surfer. I remember first seeing this frustratingly hard game from the old AVGN episode.
Yes!!! AVGN rules always and forever!!!!!
