Thanks for the compliment. I tend to use skinny brushes called Liner brushes. Basically any skinny brush with a decent long bristle that looks like you could paint a line with. Nowadays I use one that I made at home - does the same thing - nothing fancy they are cheap synthetic bristle brushes :)

Hi mate, yes it's mainly preference to start on a coloured background but also to seal the surface of the canvas. I use acrylic paint as my base, coat it twice and once dry I start with oil paint.
I have examples of colour mixing in the playlist area and videos with colour mixing on the side as well. That should get you started, after that it comes down to practise and you'll eventually know how to get close to colour matching.

What kind of tiny paint brush are you using?
Usually any skinny cheap brush, or I thin them out further. Generally Liner brushes, long haired skinny brushes - any.
