This video was really helpful! Doing IV insertion and removal test off today. And for those saying she spoke too fast you can change the speed under playback settings so they are faster/slower.
I “lose”the vein once I feel it & can’t see it when I go to put needle in… then have to keep feeling for it. Very aggravating. It’s easier when you see the veins
The tape isn't going to touch a key site. On top of that, the tape isn't sterile to start with. The dressing needs to stay sterile but the tape doesn't.
Can you please upload a video that demonstrates how to draw blood from an iv site using a vacutainer tube for Iab tests? It would be greatly helpful. 🙂
You need to release the tourniquet before flushing. Geriatric patient veins will not tolerate this extra volume. You can "pop" your vein, thus needing to start an IV in a new location.
Yes I couldn't appreciate the video because I couldn't see exactly what she was explaining. Explanation was so detailed it sucked not to have it zoomed in
I was practicing an iv yesterday and I got flash back from my needle, kept trying to advance my catheter but it wouldn’t advance and it was causing dimpling over the vein and my classmate complained of pain. Did I advance the catheter too early? Or did I not go deep enough with the needle? Thanks! Great video!
Likely not deep enough with the needle! That was my problem as well, u just gotta be confident and poke the skin and vein in one motion ❤️ u got this tho!! Remember: poke at 30, lower needle flush to skin, then advance the needle in a bit more, and then thread in the catheter all the way! If u thread the catheter too early, it might've not been in the vein fully and bunched up in the skin tissue instead.
That's probably because you didn't advance enough. When you get the flash, drop your needle, and you need to bump in like 1mm. That angles the cath in right. Then, you should be able to slide the cath in.
I just have never had the confidence to keep trying! Anything else, I'm good at, including phlebotomy but IV's and I just don't get along!? I've been a Nurse longer than I want to say!
Omg .. ive had iv and blood withdrawal certification for so long and yet I’ve never been able to use it since we don’t do that where I work … I’m so ashamed lol 😭
At the end you should secure the catheter in a loop on patients hand to prevent it from flying around and banging into things, u prob just forgot to mention it and demonstrate it.
Too bad the camera is so far most of the time . Would have been nice to focus on what she is doing . We don’t need to see the patient or the whole room
She could easily get a needle stick this way. Dont just throw the needle like this 🤨 And i would wish for once to see a vein so obvious on a chemo pt 🙂
I thought this video was just ok. I understand verbally what you are saying but really we didn't get to see exactly what you were doing, which just made this video a podcast.
Having a pile of garbage on the bed and tgen throwing the sharp into the pile? What fn hospital would be ok with this? Nurses have gone to hell. They use to be hospitable.
Using the bedsheets as a table where for the equipment ? Jeezus. Don’t ever do this if you work in ICU or any hospitalization unit where a high risk of sepsis exists.
Just rewatched it. She kept all aspects sterile that needed to be. Syringe flush tip, syringe flush extension, needle tip. Tape, gloves, gauze, rest of the supplies aren’t sterile to begin with
Great video but I was always taught when you see blood return release the tourniquet never flush with it on.
same

Holding the skin taut helps with keeping the vein once you’ve located it
me who is sitting at home at night learning about putting in a iv randomly
Me 4:14am 🤣
Me 3:00 am😂😃
😆😆😆!
Excellent job you make nursing look easy.
I don’t agree with putting the tape on the side rail. Exposure to infection at the site .
Where do you suggest the tape should be put?
Shut up! Being way too paranoid! Where the hell is it supposed to go then? In bleach?!!
@@ibrahimlawan7722 good ?

@@ibrahimlawan7722 I would suggest you put the tape on your glove

Nah, not a big deal
We would appreciate if you could zoom in and perhaps slow down all steps just a little bit next time 😉
Great feedback! We’ll work to slow it down on steps
Zooming part was more important I reckon. 😂
Yes I couldn't appreciate the video because I couldn't see exactly what she was explaining. Explanation was so detailed it sucked not to have it zoomed in
I think your speed is perfect. Right to the point and wasted no time. Thank you!
Shouldn't you remove the tourniquet BEFORE flushing the vein?🤔
Tes
Doesn’t matter
It does matter! you should release the torniquet before flashing otherwise will burst the vein.

I've been a nurse for 13 years.
Make sure your flash goes to the hub.
Great topic to explain, thank you.
Thank you❤
Yep, put the tape on the side rail so you can risk the patient of contracting infection
The tapes not sterile nor does it need to be. The tapes not over the sterile site. Why pretend like you know what you’re talking about?
I love her!
Thanks 😊

The ac is almost always the first spot nurses go to
How many IVsaline can be given to a deadly diarrhea patient
This sounds like the beginning of a joke!
I got an IV in my wrist and it sucked. That needle is intimidating.
Wow i didnt understand a thing good job
Me a us marine watching this so I can put them on myself
Good tips
Too bad the camera is so far most of the time . Would have been nice to focus on what she is doing . We don’t need to see the patient or the whole room
I just fainted when she inserted the needle.
I don’t agree with keeping the tourny on while you scrub. Tourney should be in less than 1 min
Doesn’t make a difference but okay
Good bidio
She could easily get a needle stick this way. Dont just throw the needle like this 🤨

It’s retracted 👍🏻
Camera angle and zoom a myth.🤦🏻♂️
Maybe I'm only one who dislike iv cannulation.
My dude was going through it
Before flushing ,take off the tourniquet 1st.🤗
Oh God she removed the needle and put it on the bed? Where is safety box!!..
Needles retracted/safety locked
Angle is too far, good video tho!
this is skiil am a doc In irl like for real 😳
she must be good, he did not even twitch all when she stuck him!
He's got tattoos, that's why he didn't budged
pulmonary embolism in route!!!!
?
Why are you far away from the camera
I thought this video was just ok. I understand verbally what you are saying but really we didn't get to see exactly what you were doing, which just made this video a podcast.
camera work sucks You should redo it and get shots of each task
Camera is too far away and out of focus
Too fast for me😭
maybe right now. . . keep at it!
Those tattoos can't be real
Wheres the dressing trolley
A couple things wrong
Having a pile of garbage on the bed and tgen throwing the sharp into the pile? What fn hospital would be ok with this? Nurses have gone to hell. They use to be hospitable.
Slow down talking
Using the bedsheets as a table where for the equipment ? Jeezus. Don’t ever do this if you work in ICU or any hospitalization unit where a high risk of sepsis exists.
Lol, as you can see… she’s not in the ICU
also, alot of nurses do this.

This video is horrible. From the angle to the set up
It def helped me ….
I'm sorry too. Far away, tape on the rail, unsterile, found it unprofessional and tacky
What part isn’t sterile that should be sterile?
