My dear the song was originally written and performed by Eric Carmen back in the 70's. See his You Tube / Mid Night special performance. David Foster had Celine Dion do a reprise but, trust me she just did a performance of a song that's been around for a few years.
Incase you're not familiar Eric Carmen a former member of a rock group known as the Raspberry's and a classically trained pianist borrowed from Russian "Romantic" composer Sergei Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto in C minor the 2nd movement of the 3 part concerto. That movement in my opinion not only the center part but the sparkling jewel of a beautiful piece of classical music. If you like Classical music you might listen to pianist Lang Lang's performance of this piece or the entire concerto on You Tube BEAUTIFUL! This music was the basis for Carmen's composition of the song All By Myself which Filipina singer Charise did a marvelous job with. She had such wonderful potential to be an excellent female pop vocalist who in my opinion could have approached the level of Whitney Houston. Sadly she turned away from that and it breaks the heart to see that. Oh what if? By the way David Foster was supporting and mentoring her and he has been a force behind several performers.
BTW: The "piano player" is David Foster, the producer of this song. He is probably the most famous Canadian producer ever, won 16 Grammy Awards, so as a Canadian you should probably know him ;-)

Charice is from the Philippines and goes back in time to when she was a young teenager appearing on both Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres shows. She was discovered by David Foster. She had a very rough childhood. She was a real belter and was destined for World super stardom. She actually was introduced to Celine Dion by Oprah, and invited by Celine Dion to sing with her in front of 20,000 people at her Madison square garden concert in 2008. She was probably around 15 at the time. She did several concerts around that time, a few with David Foster, and blew the roof off of every place. But in a few years she came out as trans and is now a male. Her voice has changed and it's very sad that she likely gave up what was going to be a blockbuster career. However she chose her happiness and we can only wish her the best.

However can I suggest another talent from The Philippines called 4th Impact , They are 4 sisters with amazing harmonies. They auditioned for X Factor UK in 2015 and the video of that audition has more than 178 million views on you tube . They have many covers and some original songs on you tube. 4th Impact will simply grab your heart and not let go .
You guys seem to forget that she had a number 1 hit on the dance billboard 100 Her debu Album went to number 10 in U.S. She was such a Talent. But her second Album wasnt a huge Hit in america, but in asia. Sadly she lost around spring/ summer of 2011 her high belting notes as well. She lost her father that was murdered and she came out to her mother in that time too. David F ended his cooperation with her. Probably all of this affected her singing voice. Then she came out as lesbian in public around 2013. Her mother didnt accept her and they broke up for a long time. She find out she feels more like a man and transition in 2014/15? I cant remember correctly. But with charice dying and Jake came out, he never reached the same succes again. Sadly.

Celine is not the original singer of All by myself. It was a guy i just forgot his name. This song became popular in the 70's or 80's.

But her second Album wasnt a huge Hit in america, but in asia.
Sadly she lost around spring/ summer of 2011 her high belting notes as well. She lost her father that was murdered and she came out to her mother in that time too. David F ended his cooperation with her.
Probably all of this affected her singing voice.
Then she came out as lesbian in public around 2013. Her mother didnt accept her and they broke up for a long time. She find out she feels more like a man and transition in 2014/15? I cant remember correctly. But with charice dying and Jake came out, he never reached the same succes again. Sadly.
