    I’ve just realised having posted this video that the video animation with the toning formula didn’t get posted for some reason so here it is the final toner was redken shades EQ 09NB 20g 09V 20g Crystal clear 40 g 80 g of processing solution applied to towel dried hair processed for 20 minutes

      Hello James, means the Toner "09NB" =09 Nature/ Beige (Beige-like a cendre nuance/blue) or mean it Nature /Brown (like a Nuance /7)..i think it`s beige to correct orange shades, is this right?

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Anja great question, So yes it’s natural beige as she said Beije consists of gold and violet Beije is actually a neutral colour that sits in the middle of the colour wheel when you use violet to neutralise gold so there is still violet in it so it will have some blue but it is just generally a very well-balanced colour but beige it leans on the violet side unlike a natural which is just equal parts of all three of the primary colours. So the NB for me in this particular colour formulation is just to prevent it from going to muddy looking to keep everything bright and balance but keep everything on a cool pallet to I didn’t want to make it completely flat because of the previous colour scenario I wanted to hair to look healthy and if you sometimes cool hair down to match the hair starts to look Sludgy and not so nice Specially when the hair is porous it can become oversaturated very quickly so only putting a small amount of neutralising colour into it for me always looks like the hair is in much better condition even though it’s definitely not

    Thank you so much, you do not understand how much these videos help me. I went to the salon and had my hair done, highlight, baby lights color. They had a new assistant and I was fine with her training. That next morning I was in the hospital for four days due to anaphylaxis shock. I almost died, I was on a breathing machine for a few days. The assistant forgot to write down the products used. She was great otherwise, new and nervous.
    I do not blame them. It could have been food, medicine even a bee snuck in while I was sleeping who knows? Since the doctors could not figure out what it was and that was the only thing new. I have a fear now of going to the salon now it's been almost a year or so. Hair down past my but and orange as tried to have hubby do it. So I will have him try this at home. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so looking forward to the toning bit of this episode because that's my biggest challenge. I did do your shag cut! I really like it too! Thank you! I also did my own bleach and toner. I am usually a brown but I am going gray so I wanted it light enough that I could do blonde of gray depending on my mood. So I been playing with the purple shampoos, color conditioner and Demi permanent to tone it here and there. It is actually fun to do a different tone instead of always dying my hair.
    My hair is actually shiny even, and not damaged as I thought it would be

      I’m an artist and I absolutely LOVE the way paint splatter looks when it’s been naturally built up over time on a surface. My easel and brush handles and sketchbooks splattered in paint are treasures to me. Seeing and appreciating the evidence of your life makes you remember and reflect on just how much life you’ve actually lived. Something about it reflects the passage of time so well. HOWEVER- it’s odd that I didn’t even notice in this video until I saw your comment but I agree, especially now knowing the backstory, I’d look at those splatters in the salon and seethe every day if I owned this place; bc covering *your own* floor in splatters is totally different from covering someone else’s floor out of spite? I genuinely can’t even put myself in that headspace.

    I really enjoy your videos. I personally always use lightener on the regrowth last no matter how dark the level of hair because of scalp sensitivity to product. The #1 cause of scalp sensitivity is a chemical reaction to minerals deposited on the scalp and hair strand which exist in the water we bathe in.

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому

      Superb Claire, just out of interest in this particular instance how would you have gone about it ???

    • @clarewagner1487

      @@TheLifeOfHair I'd apply 5 or 10 volume lightener to the band first, then 20 to the regrowth, then go over the band one more time with 20 vol applied on top of the low volume developer for the last couple minutes. The less time lightener is left on scalp the better. I've had lightener reactions before on clients and it's a scary thing. If you do on scalp lightener and you have to take it off and it's not totally processed you can always do a shadow root to blend the color until the next visit. Set up a Malibu crystal gel treatment before the next lightening session to remove mineral buildup and that should take care of scalp sensitivity.

    • @JacyndaMinor
      @JacyndaMinor Місяць тому

      @@clarewagner1487ok so you’re saying that the mineral buildup already exists in our hair from regular showering, and that many of the reactions to lightener are bc it’s interacting with the normal stuff you’d always have on your hair bc of water? Is this why I’m seeing more ppl suggest a clarifying shampoo beforehand, to clear minerals out of the hair? I usually only wash my hair once every ten days or so so now I’m wondering if I should try and do my processing earlier in the cycle instead on the very last day. I haven’t had anything terrible happen but I’ve had an itchy scalp and some flakiness after my last bleaching. I’ve got to correct banding and I’m so unsure of which condition my hair needs to be in to do tedious meticulous bleach application

    I did go over! I lighten my hair, bleached it two times the waited a week did one more and it was a yellow, tied to do T14 and it didn’t do much so used Demi permant mushroom blonde on it because I had to go to work. So I wait a week and put in color oops to shrink the color molecules and rinsed it out. Oil treatment, then next day I bleached it a bit mor thinking that was the problem. It was a lot lighter and I used overtone in vibrant silver and it was beautiful white silver on top but wasn’t enough in the jar so I had patches uncover and some parts o saw some green, so I added some conditioner that came with the overtone kit and it was not as strong so I left it on a little longer, only in the yellow legs gosh spots that was not covered well not I have green tint and blue tints! And there is some yellow. Not sure what to do, I could color oops and take all color out and go to salon with the blonde orange for them to work with.. or leave it blue and green and that costs more and go there to salon.
    Or o could color oops and try a different toner making sure I get two bottles to get all over. Or order and use overtone again.
    I am not sure what to do. I don’t want to go back dark because I have been getting gray hair halo and I wanted something I could have so when it grows out it just blends in.

      It sounds like you've bleached and done colour oops a lot of times! How many in total? You're hair will be very damaged at this point. Do not bleach or do colour oops again. A wash out, very temporary colour is all I think you can do at this point if you need to. Go to a salon when you can as nobody can really help or advise without seeing your hair. Brown dye could make your hair a muddy green at this point, so don't do it. Would a wash out pastel rose colour, for rose gold hair or maybe pastel lilac help you survive the next few days? I'm assuming that the hairdresser's aren't open yet where you are.

      Edith Pruitt, girrrl how do you still have hair on your head with all these bleach! Just get protein treatments darlin' until you get to a good salon to rescue your mane. Trust me i have been doing a bit of playing with my hair with colors over the years and now i miss the softness and long length n fast growth that has been now replaced with uneven damaged 3different colored breaking falling, puffy n rough hair!

      t14 only works if your hair is light enough. your hair must be a level 10 or lighter in order to achieve the desired results of t14. you have to match the level of toner with the level of your hair or you can use a lower level toner. higher levels of toner than your hair will not work

    • @edithpruitt5058
      @edithpruitt5058 4 роки тому +2

      cashoomilk well it is about a level 8 or 9 now. But I fixed it. And I am lucky I have thick hair. But I ended up doing a bleach bath. And then T 14 and it turned out an ash blonde but it’s like ash blonde and white. And that is better than blue! I will leave it alone now. I think once my roots grow out it should blend in now.

    What would happen if u just put a toner on and dont bleach?

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому +1

      Nothing basically you can only put a toner on level for instance The band was more like a level eight we could only put a level eight tone on that it might have looked a bit cooler but it definitely wouldn’t of made it look light level 10 like we’ve got it in the end. so here’s the thing to think about when you’re putting toners and Hair you need to know how dark or light the hair is you’re putting it on otherwise you may not get the result you were expecting 😁👍🏻

    Interesting video, couldn’t one bleach the whole root until the pale blonde in one go? Because the 1cm root would lighten faster anyway and the cold shaft is prelightened but not where the goal is? The only thing is when overlapping onto the pale blonde, that might cause disintegration

    • @TheLifeOfHair
      @TheLifeOfHair  4 роки тому +3

      I suppose you could do the whole thing in one go you would need to different levels of peroxide at least two levels apart for instance you would have to do the roots with With 20 volume and then go back in and do your Band with 10 volume 😁👍🏻

    • @timschulze4162
      @timschulze4162 4 роки тому +3

      The Life Of Hair if there was a 10vol, you can also use 20 vol in a 4:1 ratio with lightener so it lightens way gentler than a 2:1

      Unfortunately Jocelyn this is the price you pay for having bleached hair people might argue this statement but there is no such thing as great condition bleached hair you can have good condition bleached hair but by the very nature of bleaching hair we take away so much quality

    If you have to go through this process for blonde hair DON'T do it. After a few dye jobs, your hair will look fried, dry, and just plain ugly.
