No disrespect to anyone associated with the military. While every death is significant, compare that statistic to Afghanistan and/or Iraq over that 20 year period.
That’s why we call them ‘The Greatest Generation’. They did it anyway!
Bless them. And I thank all who have served for the freedom that I enjoy everyday! And, bless each of your families who suffered, but got no credit for service, alongside you. Thank you!

One thing about Omaha Beach that really stood out to me was the huge concrete German batteries that held the Canons were just about in very good condition, not really damaged at all that I saw. Then we walked down the hill to the sand beach that are brave soldiers charged across on d-day and looked back up the hill. The big concrete bunkers were very well camouflaged could hardly make them out. The bunkers had the openings shooting out the sides down the beach, no opening to the front facing the ocean. Not like in the Hollywood movies at all.

Honest question, I have not read Irving.
Please explain the quote, or give a better bibliography so that I can understand. I assume there is background meaning that I don’t comprehend. On the face, the statement would imply that the world would now be ruled as a a vassal of Naz! Germany. I am assuming that I have missed a vital point.

      @@offendineveryway9411 I don’t deny. I’m asking for a bibliography.
And for you to deny the lives shed on The beaches at D Day or the following battles, it has to be a tome that represents an adequate opposing force.
Again, I am not informed so, but a surviving soldier with an opinion is not the same as. An Uberstermnfurher with orders.
Again, please give a bibliography and back up your statements.
If you can, I will speak with you!
If you can’t, please stay away from pages dedicated to heroes.
Just because heroes that you never knew, died to allow folks like us to have the right to make stupid statements for click value.
I don’t know, but going to guess that if asked, they would have tossed whatever you wanted and fought and killed for that to.
You are rare, but the same. You hate the country you call home. No problem. Most countries will accept you. Don’t forget to give up your US citizenship at the exit.
Once you get wherever and find how wonderful it is to be a citizen there, begin recruiting other first world successful individuals to come join you.
I don’t have much, I’m just a retired old fart. But, after you and your like minded friends have taken another island over. I’m sure it was due to the ignorance of the populace.
Funny how close a word is…
The ignorance of a people, vs the ignorance of a population by a government during time of war.

For the heroes who died or were wounded on that day, and days, months, year later, fighting and dying for a cause greater than me, and certainly greater than you.
I appreciate, acknowledge, and am humbled by their service and sacrifice.
For those interested, @offendineveryway9411 thought they could negate the sacrifice of those on Omaha beach and/or other beaches by claiming that those fighting for the Allied cause would have switched sides had they only read a certain book. Or at least been influenced by someone who wrote a book.
When I asked for a bibliography/reference. I got the usual runaway/round. I don’t know if the book or author exists. I haven’t been to the cemeteries in Normandy. Or in other parts of Europe.
Disrespect of those who served aggravates me. If it does y as well, please take the time to ask @offedineveryway9411 to back up the statement made that disrespects
those who fought to give me the love I love and want for grandkids.
Take a moment to call that person out. Downvotes are blocked these days.
A full mailbox of one line thoughts is a days work. 😈
