It would be tough for me to switch to a different editor after investing so much time into learning vscode. So, I'll be sticking with extensions for now. But these vids are great because you keep us all on top of what's currently free!
First of all: Thank you for the video! Good to know. And second: Omg, have you ever thought about making audio books or something like that? You have an incredibly soothing voice. Makes me want to go straight to bed to sleep. Really no offense meant!
Thanks for revealing the Workflow feature. I've been using Zed with the AI chat since a week, hugely leveraging the file and fetch options. But I was completely clueless about the Workflow option 😅 How did you get access to Zed's fast edit AI model? I even tried logging in with a new account, but still only have access to the basic Sonnet model from Zed.
there are so many videos and tech i don't know which one to use. Can you tell me which one is the best overall ? Claude + aider ? or something else ? thank you
Yes that would be and amazing video, also mention where each combination is better for particular examples in app creation for example witch combination of tools is better for iOS app creation, or android app creation, etc.
Great video. Btw, you can also add Claude API key in Cursor and use it for free. You have to pay of Claude API tokens in both cases. 'Am I missing something?
@@wikittywhacktv Hey, I really appreciate your offer! I’ll try doing a make install/build first and see where I end up. It's tempting, though-I definitely went down a deep rabbit hole. The farther I went, the bigger the teeth on those bunnies got! I was seeing blank x-windows exports and having flashbacks to when we used x-windows on AIX to serve OS/2 stations running Mosaic. Whoa! We’re talking so far back that we were still running host files Al Gore put together in his spare time. Gopher just wasn’t cutting it. Maybe I should’ve gone down a Gopher hole instead! Also I have been contemplating a dual boot with my laptop with the good Nvidia card and if only time would come around and give me more time I would have done it by now. God help you if you just understood what I just said. Me and Al Gore bring up the internet in 1991-92 in Tempe, Arizona.
I would say Zed + Supermaven is the best option at the moment because it's the only way to get Claude 3.5 sonnet for free AFAIK Cursor is good and it's what I've been using but if you're overwhelmed you might as well try something for free that has 90% of the power potentially
i love this voice :) and i love this the speed and style of zed! you are great!!! THX a lot!!! i am wondering how i can start commands in terminal using zed assistant (f.e. in workflow or custom command). kind regards, john from hamburg
Love waking up to new open source options to Cursor.😊👍
It's there more than one? Which is the best? Thanks a lot!
@@AGI-Bingo Claude Dev (free VsCode extension) compatible with OpenAI, but also OpenRouter or even local LLM is the closest imo
Love the series, please keep sharing 🙏
Super cool! I am switching to Zed but still using Vscode because rich extension itself. But for sure Zed will support those in near future.
Yes needs git gui
Yes needs git gui

Then let's all git together and make an open sourced a.i coding app.
Thanks. This is a great info along with Aider. Next big thing would be a try-and-error coding by agents like open interpreter, I suppose.

Thanks! You've opened my eyes! I'll definitely give this a try, Zed looks super cool!
Thanks man! I use zed sometimes to fast edit, but now i can use it as default IDE for some proj
The problem that I’ve had with all of these is the rate limiting. Hopefully this one will truly allow me to get some work done
Thanks for the info, please share approximately how many request you make before hitting the rate limit for zed using Claude 3.5sonnet?
I read that you can alter the token limits on your LLM, but I can’t find out how

Well, zed's ai dev features looks cool, but I think I'm more preferring to stick on using vscode with aider or cursor.

’Stop using cursor‘는 못참지~😊
ㅋㅋㅋ 커서는 역적이네요
Which is more powerful claude dev with VS or zed ai?
How did you get the claude-3-5-sonnet-20240620-fast-edit model?
i love my King when King is sided to poor villagers like me
i'd like to see Dratini and Garados dancing please thank you, btw i finally have zed

Is entire codebase available already now?
Still need a way to reference external docs
How much is the cost per day in a regular work day?
thank you.
love thbis vid.

show for we in windows instalations
I guess I might need to dual boot my machine with my GPU to a Linux distro. I tried WSL and failed. Have you tried WSL?
you can compile it for windows, works great. or if you don't know how to do that i'll send you a compiled version

All these cursor alternatives are a bit overwhelming for me. Could someone tell me which one is the best right now?

Ok all fine its free, open source and rust base fast code editor but main problem its not available this time windows😢
Waiting for the windows release
which did you download supermaven for since it dont have a zed download
You can do that by just changing the inline completion to supermaven and it will automatically download it.
Can this generate arduino code? Does it have terminal like arduino ide?
are there usage limits as a free user? i heard zed is only free for a month...
It's still free.
Can you elaborate on the usage of Claude 3.5 sonnet with a zed account? Are there rate limits? Is it like chatting with sonnet on the Claude website?

It is not available for windows :(
It's available but you need to build it yourself
windows :(
You'll have to run some commands and build it yourself to run on windows
Install through Scoop. I have ZED running on my W11 now
no zed for windows ?
You'll have to run some commands and build it yourself to run on windows
"scoop bucket add versions"
"scoop install versions/zed-nightly"
this is how you install ZED into Windows.
