Quadruple Bench Grinder Setup

- So I'm not a big fan of Bench Grinders because I've always found them awkward to use but for some reason I have to of them anyway so I decided to optimize them into a setup I'll use more often. Putting them on top of each other creates a grinding station where you can do many different things while having a relatively small footprint on the workbench. The weight of the setup also makes it unnecessary to screw it down so it stays in place but is easy to move and position. I chose 4 different types of attachments so I can grind almost anything without switching wheels. I chose the lapping disc over a diamond wheel where you grind on the edge because these are cheaper and actually offer more surface area to grind on. I also prefer a flat surface to grind against rather than a curved wheel for most things. I mostly use use the grinder to sharpen electrodes which works great with the diamond wheel.
Last but not least I added proper tool rests to the lower grinder.
Thanks to the rubber feet everything stays in place and there's very little vibration.

This might be the most useful sharpening station I've seen. One still needs to be a wire wheel, and then you only have to change when they wear out.
This is genius... I have never even considered putting grinders above each other but this would save a lot of space in my little shop!
Going vertical is such a great idea! Well done!
I would love to make one of these for an OPE sharpening station, with a bench/belt combo grinder on bottom and a chainsaw chain grinder on top
Very inventive design solution. Thanks for sharing this. I am so particular that I would be concerned about dust or particulates from one machine affecting the other, so I would devise dust shields.
Awesome setup Phil!
Great job.
Brilliant.
Nicely done.
What a cool idea 👍 why have I never thought of this before. Fantastic job.
👍 Eine feine Sache, die Idee mit den übereinander angeordneten Schleifspindeln, nicht nur für's Platzsparen in kleinen Werkstätten! 👍
Very useful stack! 👍
Awesome idea. Lateral thinking at its best.
I have 4 grinders only use three and have no permanent place for them. I also really like the diamond/knife polishing disk with the table excellent and compact will do ASAP!!
The diamond disk caught my eye because I'm building a gem shaper out of a small stationary drill press. Very impressive work yoiu do!
This is a great idea! I have a 7" Baldor grinder with two grits of wheels and next to it a 5 or 6 inch grinder with a wire wheel and grinding wheel only used for tungsten. The smaller one might work just fine if it was a little higher. The bigger grinding jobs will be done on the 2x72 grinder that I'm just starting to build with a kit from Work/House on youtube. Great video!
Good job. I liked it. Good luck.
fantastic, I think I am going to have to make one
Awesome idea
Nice!
Phil, this is super dope. Great job with all the custom wheels. Great ingenuity and thriftiness.
I love it! :)
Great idea but won’t you grinding dust in your buffing wheel?
I like the vertical setup. I have seen guys in Germany do this too (with their older metabo grinders).
So nice I had to sub
CLEAN
Now that's cool!
slept on!
muy buena idea,gracias
I'm liking and subscribing just for the name.
I've been thinking of doing this with standard metal grinding wheels down the bottom and polishing wheels up top with extention shafts to have 4 polishing wheels, simply because if I have to swap a buffing wheel there's a 99% chance I'll loose it xD
Slick ,enjoyed the video. may have to make one, .Right mow I have bench space for 4 grinders but I like the stand idea. Thanks
That calls for a 4-Grinder-Tower with 8 wheels :)
Good idea. Later
This is awesome!
What could possibly go wrong?
slick
Just curious: you don't get sunburnt welding without sleeves?
What about cable management for them?
Отличная идея.
I would add a collector for the polishing dirt, they make quite the mess.
Did you upgrade your lathe from 4” to 6” chuck?
On Stands, Tables, etc, if you angle the legs out 5 degrees in both directions, it makes for a VERY stable support........z
Looks good, but don't the one wheels make the others dusty all the time? 👍🏻
Neat
SUPER
Nice! Perhaps it could even be put on wheels to avoid the lifts.
Why didn't I think of that!
CHAPOO¡!!!
💯👍👏👏👏👏👏
I would have bolted the whole thing down, but if you need to move it...
My dear please avoid electrode dust. Your health is important. Regards from Florence ITALY
Looks like a long hair death trap! Very cool though.
Not to knock this effort, but this feels like a bad idea from the perspective of safety, and perhaps contaminating wheels.
