    Let's stop and swap out a piston in the engine. And you can't wear gloves to do it. These people are tough and resourceful, must be a pleasure to be around them. A bear, fox and lemming. From sheer exaustion from a long day on the sleds to days of boredom in a cabin, excitement from bear encounters to the careful methodical drudgery of survival. I love it!

    Finally, after a long wait, the first video of the trip has arrived...an early Christmas present! This really gave a sense of what the trip was like, and even though the wildlife images are few and far between, the visual diary of the adventure more than makes up for that. What an adventure of a lifetime this must have been...can't wait to see the next leg of the journey!

    I’ve just binge watched all four of your videos and was totally blown away by being able to “share” your amazing experience. In 2019 I joined an expedition cruise to Arctic Canada & Greenland, as soon as I saw your footage of Grise Fjord I knew exactly where you were, it brought back many of my own memories. Thank you so much for making these films and for sharing your beautiful images.

      Morten, where did the wood to burn in the cabin come from? Is it sourced nearby and snowmobiled in each time?

    • @Hangs4Fun
      @Hangs4Fun 4 роки тому +4

      Sorry for all the questions, but, I noticed many times when seeing tracks of wolves leading off into the distance there was also other smaller sets going in parallel in the same direction. Is the Arctic Wolf hunting via following tracks or is it able to follow by smell (or both I guess)?
      This is better than 95% of the National Geographic episodes I've seen, outstanding Morten

      Thank you so much 👍 it is so encouraging to hear. We are burning fuel in the cabin and not woods. The smaller tracks are from a fox and a lemming😊 that moment with the polar bear was epic

    Wow!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL video!! To get that one shot of the polar bear would have paid for the trip in itself but I see you were able to find an Arctic fox as well. Both incredibly beautiful creatures!! That would have been a moment that I'd never forget and I doubt you will either!
    What a fantastic expedition and thank you for sharing it to the world.
    I hope that one day, National Geographic or Canadian Geographic pays interest in your Elsmere Island expedition. You definitely deserve such recognition.

    I'd watch an expedition episode of yours every time over a movie in the cinemas, an episode from a show or the tv program (granted, I don't even watch tv). As I've probably said before, these videos are so great to watch, not just from an entertainment standpoint. You capture what few people are able to see in their lives, unique moments with unique and fascinating creatures. And the fact that you love nature, the animals and just exploring everything, just makes it so true and therefore very good.
    All this, in combination with your filming, editing and choice of music, makes for something far better than anything I've seen on nature programs.
    All the best from Germany!

    Morten, you have all my admiration. I cannot imagine all the efforts you put for the preparation of this expedition, the logistic issues, the cold, the frustation, the reporting of this video itself . You may not have seen the wolf but man , let me say that you lived your dream and that's the most important thing. Thanks Morten. Greetings from Italy

Shooting out there in those demanding conditions makes this more valuable to us, watching from the warmth and comfort of our home. What an amazing experience, with difficulties and challenges but great successes in finding the first message from Vibe and exquisite photos of lemming, polar bear and fox, as well as the landscape. Those pure white animals surviving in the pure white ice desert is fantastic. So harsh yet so beautiful. Your passion is courageous, Morten. Well done to Anders and the guides, too. At first I thought that a 49 min. long UA-cam video is too long. But not in company with you, Morten Hilmer. It's an excellent handheld documentary you've made here. You can't get enough credit for this video. It has been a pleasure and an honor to follow the first episode.
    You should seriously try to sell it to a local TV network here in Denmark. I will not understand it, if DR or TV2 is not interested in this.

    Great! I have been anticipating the arrival of this series since you returned. I can’t wait to watch this. I will need to set aside some distraction free time so I can fully enjoy it, just like all your work.

    It's so marvellous to recognize that how different the life in Arcitic from it in liveable places. This is my first time to see people place fur under snow boot to exclude the diffusing of the cold air to the sole. And the furry sick gloves were quite lovely on your hand, just like a pair of bear hand. Great thanks to your recording! The video is so fascinating even without these peaceful and serene wildlife photographys!
