Everyone leaves out measurements from center of pipe to 90% on each end so sad it's just quick math then the stubs dont matter just the back to back 90% matters as long as the pipe is the right length of what one needs way simpler just saying easy to cut you're total first with a straight pipe then one with a bend in it :)

For your first mark leave the ruler hang off five inches than mark 12. No math involved

Alingning the star to the line is tough
You’ll find that if you look at the star from the top staring down at the ground at lines up much more naturally
