Cleaning the condenser coils is a great idea, because it helps keep the compressor from overheating, and removes the heat from the coolant.
However, it doesn't have anything to do with increasing airflow in your home. That is provided by the fan in the indoor portion. There is also an air filter that should be checked and replaced as needed in the indoor unit. 😊 ❤ 7:46

Thank you so much for all of your information and going out there and having the courage to try to fix it to show us we can do it. Thank you.

I paid $140 for AC refrigerant and a check up by a professional, so good for you. I got tired of doing my own DIY for this AC unit this year! Don’t forget to clean out your return air vent and inside your venting system (pull off that return air vent and look inside). Good job on this DIY!!😊💕👍💰

Should have checked voltage, and tested mfd ratings on both. Looks like you did not realize the cfm cap just laying on the bottom of the condenser cabinet

Thanks for showing us the process because these AC guys will charge $500-1200 for the smallest thing then tell you to swap out the unit

Guys, I love you both but I want to caution you about your understanding of capacitors. I'm a EE so first:
    1) Handling caps like this requires gloves rated for the voltage levels of the capacitor. Klein sells gloves rated for high voltages and worth the investment. Check the voltage level on the cap itself. A large one like that can really create serious problems for you.
Caps work as short term storage of electricity. They can easily explode or hit you with deadly amounts of current if you are not careful. You were smart to discharge the cap with a screwdriver. A common thing but a cap that big - no those gloves will NOT help you.
Love you guys and be careful!
