This song was one of the many underrated songs of the DPPt soundtrack, which really deserves a lot more credit than it gets. I rank DPPt about on par with Hoenn in terms of musical awesomeness, there are some real gems in the DPPt games. I'd love to cover more DPPt tunes as time comes :3
Mixwise, I tried a few new things, mainly changing the way I used my limiter. I used a compressor in tandem with a limiter to get the volume levels more stable, and have the limiter work on the body of the sound, rather than the peaks (which were already cut by the compressor.) This is one of my better mixes, I believe.

Pokemon is our favourite franchise. This wasn't the greatest entry ever, FPS issues and lack of Pokemon variety... But platinum fixed these issues and we still love this game.
This is my favourite song from the game... The journey is at last beginning to close. I didn't want it to end in fairness... It seemed too soon I'd be over with the main game.

Ethan Crivello I think you're misunderstanding this just a little, so allow me to clear things up here. The pun is that Diamond and Pearls are gems so that's where I was going with that. It's a stupid pun :/ And I was referring to the end of THIS game specifically. Arriving in Sunyshore meant the journey was almost over, and I enjoyed this as my first Pokemon game so much I didn't want it to end. I didn't want to be done with it. After all, Pokemon isn't going anywhere but up. I think there's gonna be games for years to come yet.
CactusErebittsu I completely agree with you. I’ve always been in love the music from this game, as it was my first games too, just when I was 6 years old
To me, gen 4 was always gen 1, even after I played gens 1-3, its what started all the love between me and pokemon, and to this day, Im still thankful for having pokemon be a massive joy in my childhood, hopefully I can feel like a little boy again if gen 4 remakes are made soon
CactusErebittsu I started on Pokemon Red and played through whichever game had the freaking ice cream cone and that's where they really lost me. Even most of the others didn't even look like Pokemon to me anymore. Gen 1 and 3 were my favorites

DPPt are underrated as a whole. They're not perfect but every pokemon game has its issues. I'm glad that you chose sunyshore since it reminds me of Volkner and he's my favorite gym leader. Can't wait till sinnoh gets eventually remade.
I'm not sure how I would feel about a Sinnoh remake... it's gotta happen eventually, but I don't think I'd be as hyped as I was about ORAS. Sinnoh wasn't super popular among most of the fans, so I don't think the same hype would be around, GF really needs to spice things up for DPPt remakes
insaneintherainmusic I dunno. A lot of people, including myself, started playing pokemon with DPPt so it has that nostalgia factor going. It probably won't happen until the next handheld system comes out but it's safe to assume that it'll be vastly improved compared to X, Yand ORAS
Musomania27 You're part of the generational gap kiddo. DP was the big dropoff point for those who aren't 'fans' but still hung around for the Advanced generation.
Personally, I'd love a Sinnoh remake because it would potentially fix the speed, pacing and backtracking issues which plagued the game. In my opinion, they're the only Pokemon games I wouldn't recommend, and rival Gen 1 in terms of the frustratingly slow menus and movements.
I just fear the difficulty would be curbed. No game has yet to dethrone Platinum's rival in terms of sheer levels. It also forced the player to explore instead of directly guiding them to objective points - if these are streamlined into handholding, it would ruin the exploratory I felt was really one of Sinnoh's strong points.
Poketto Lol the reason why I started playing in fourth gen was because I didn't know pokemon was a video game series until the end of third gen/beginning of fourth. I've been a fan of the franchise since I was a kid (born in 98) and watched the anime since ash was in Kanto. But anyway, I've played though all the generations (except for the first and sixth) and I've felt that DPPt hold up just fine compared to the other games. However, I agree with you that they should maintain the difficulty whenever the remakes are made. The sinnoh elite four is the toughest I've faced yet (with only hoenn being able to compare) and defeating Cynthia felt like a true accomplishment and was a good final obstacle in our journey.
Musomania27 I find it funny that we were born in the same year, it seems the very end of the 90s had some weird effects on us(or the 00-10). I have always felt the same about diamond pearl though first game was mystery dungeon blue, though I then got diamond and platinum. I hope their is something to this region that forces gamefreak to think differently and innovate

Sinnoh from a point of view of cryptic plot, mythology, aesthetics and melodies, is absolutely excellent. A region much deeper and more successful than the others, although very concentrated in the LORE. On the things said in Sinnoh, a large part of the the whole existential conception of an individual and of the Pokémon world.Also the other regions are beautiful, but Sinnoh on the philosophical and cosmological level is more important.

I really liked Sunnyshore city's theme. It really felt like that last city, that last hurdle that you had to leap across before you can go about your way to the pokemon league.

I almost forgot how much I love this theme. There is so many different things to worry about now that I have forgotten what pokemon is all about. Enjoying the journey. This was my favorite moment when I began to play pokemon. That's right, l start in Sinnoh and I don't care who hears it.

I have to agree with you that the journey was very atmospheric and enjoyable compared to all the other pokemon games I've played. the music would also suit that are very well in my opinion( Mt. Coronet peak, Sunyshore city and The pokemon league being prime examples of this) which caused me to sometimes just stand still and take it in. There was also a lot to explore which I find other pokemon games seem to lack which further amplified the experience: scaling rocky cliff faces, surfing on the open seas or exploring the depths of a cave. I've been playing gen 4 since it first came out and I'm still finding stuff I didn't know about. ( there was one area on mt. Coronet Peak that I didn't know existed until a year ago). Anyway, this gen is awesome.

This is by far my favourite song from Diamond and Pearl,besides the Gamecorner and Veilstone of course but the music in this city was so uplifting and relaxing and I love your version of it! It really brings back memories of my first play through of Pokemon Pearl.

I never had much nostalgia for Sunyshore, I thought it was a particularly good tune that deserved to appear in the game more than once. Perhaps it was the fact that Sunyshore is a very unique place in-game and the fact that the song only appeared in Sunyshore that lead me to cover this :3

You need to do with DPPt what you did with RSE. It'll sound much more natural, solos won't have to be forced
Not sure why people feel the need to one up SunnyShore with Driftveil, but SunnyShore sure doesn't get as annoying after you figure out Driftveil is quite a short loop, good boop but not great long term.

Zach B. Yeah, I program my drums and bass through my Digital Audio Workstation using Kontakt instruments. I made a tutorial series which covers the basics, that would be a good place to start.

+DanGuy909 I think it has to do with the age I was at when I played it. Gen 4 came out right as I was developing my own personality, and it was sort of my companion as I grew up with it! Other than that, the music itself is just fantastically written.
