In this tutorial, I'm going to show you 3 ways to use overtones in your solos. Overtones are great for working on tone, voicing, tongue position, and long tones, BUT you can also use them functionally in solos. With thes 3 simple steps, I'm going to show you how to take your improv solos to a pro level with the use of overtones.

Hey thanks I think this will carry a long way
Really love your videos! I am a guitarist and just tried soloing and playing the same note on on two different strings to create a different timbre. Sounds cool and plan to explore more of that. Thanks so much!
I've stolen so many ideas like that from bass & guitar! 😁😁😁
I wonder if you could discuss saxophone harnesses. I’d be interested to know details about the one you wear usually or other ones you tried. Thanks. Don Walker
I'd like to see a video on how you learned the tunes and prepared for the Eros tour. How much was learning existing saxophone parts versus improv'd solos? How did you approach the solos, etc.?
Nice play 🎷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
WowZer! I have been wondering for years what that sound was. I love it. Best lesson ever! It would go very well on the solo “I Feel Good” James Brown. Thank you, Scott! 🎷🎷🎶🎶💃🏿
Super interesting video ! Makes you realize that top players include and control so many things in their music. Thanks !
Nice!
Thanks for the info. Great sound. What mouthpiece are you using if I may ask? Tip size too.
Do you have a fingering chart for all the notes and their overtone fingerings?
Hey Scott, great lesson. Gives me more motivation to work on my overtones. Quick question, in another video you talked about how you have a loud, fat in your face sound. I do too and I like it but when I'm playing with others I'm told I'm too loud. My question is do I need to learn to control my embouchure and support more or do I need to change my gear for those occasions. Or both?
Hi
I started play alto 2 1/2 years ago but lately have been considering tenor
How much different is it ?
Thx
Fingerings are the same, requires different breath support and a looser embouchure. I prefer tenor over alto, the register of the horn sits in my ear nicer. You should get your hands on one and try it! Don't skip out on Bari and soprano either :)
@@tenbroekjazz will do thx for the info :)
Cool…
