Stick with him, when you feel a song is to tough for you skip it and come back to it later. Thats what I did with this song, I couldn't grasp it at first so I actually learned What a Wonderful first and then came back and picked it up in a day. I've been playin for 3 years and have watched almost all teachers on UA-cam. He is better than even some of the ones that ask for money. Good Luck! Keep Playin.

i think the finger picking technique is sooo much easy then remember chords plus way more fun to play but that's my opinion. this song is the first one i learned when i picked up my guitar today for the first time. He is a great teacher.

I need to train and strengthen my ring finger on the chord holding hand and this is perfect. Both really fun and cool sounding and difficult/straining on my ring finger haha
Tried to learn this back when I started playing years ago, couldn't do it. Started playing again recently and after a few days of practicing and remembering what I learnt a bunch a years ago, I came back to this and with in 2 weeks I managed to nail it. I think it may have had something to do with it being my girlfriends favourite song so the pressure was on lol. Great lesson, glad I came back to it as I kinda promised myself to learn it way before i met her anyway.

try earning the shapes your fingers have to make before playing them. like in the: -- 0 -- 3 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 3 3 3 -- -- -- -- -- 3 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- section you can stay on the 3rd fret with your middle finger and use your 1st finger to hammer onto the 3rd fret after the open string plays hope i could be of some help
I really enjoy this type of fingering . At least you get all the effects of the song. It seems fairly easy. I would say the only flaw is it's hard to see where you are putting your fingers. I have a request, Midnight Special with the same type of fingering. Thanks so much for your lesson and I will keep practicing Stand By Me. Love that song!
