    I installed a 16 channel hikvision at my house and it was a pain. Running the cables through the attic, down walls and under ground was challenging. I went overboard and wired a laser trip sensor at my front door that sets off 3 fire bells, one fire high pitch buzzer, 2 strobe lights, air raid siren, backup alarm and a grinder in the attic that shakes the house. The reactions from ups, FedEx and Amazon are priceless!

      Yeah, i was looking at having an alarm installed that i could set off remotely if i saw anyone trying something around my house. However, i haven't figured how to trigger it remotely over the internet and have the dvr do the trigger.

    Were you able to store the extra from the Ethernet connection inside the base of the Camera, or were they left exposed. For the front door camera that was installed. Where were you able to tuck that cable or cables that weren't in use because of the POE? Thanks.

    Thanks for the videos, 2 questions:
    1. Can you somehow add the Argus cameras into the NVR system?
    2. Why did you add another Camera to the front? you have the bullet you installed last year + the Argus, and now this new dome one?
    Thanks again

    Really appreciate the time you took for this. I am about to buy the 8ch system and this video confirmed I'm making the right choice. Oh, question... The "older" camera you referred to, is it a Reolink or another brand? I have a couple of Foscams, wondering if they would be compatible with the system. Thanks!

    Very nice video, but some comments as well. First of all rather than only showing on your mobile phone if you could share having the stream being shared on an Android device or smart TV. Watching on a phone is one thing, but having the ability vto see quality of remote stream especially in the matrix view would be very beneficial. That is where quality tends to tank hard for many systems. Another thing would be that when you use the reolink app you are running through their servers which is not really good from a person security perspective and in the end these are surveillance cameras. You can actually block the system from phoning home to Reolink if you wanted to and then use another optional viewing application with port forwarding that will be more secure. Thanks for the video.

      The NVR has an HDMI output on it, you can run that to your TV. There is also a windows app that you can load on your PC and that connects directly to the NVR.

    What's the motion detection settings like on the RLC-420 camera? I have an Argos 2 and the new Argos Eco and it's pretty hit and miss. If the sensitivity is any way high changes of sunlight set it off. If it's too low then it doesn't trigger unless you're nearly on top of it, very frustrating...

    I have 4 Reolink cameras and they are shit. Very good quality WHEN they work but mine constantly disconnect and will only re-connect by removing from the house and having to connect via Ethernet. The firmware will also not update on any of the cameras. Reolink customer support is extremely slow and pretty much useless. They even offered me 8% discount on 2 of my cameras for the issue I am facing. I would rather the cameras actually properly work than have a discount.
    I do NOT recommend Reolink at all.

    I have a question for you. I have a larger house as you do and I have a couple of cameras now but thinking of getting reolink system. I was not sure I should mount them up so high like you did and would you do it again? Yours seem good up there. And do you have issues with spiders putting webs over them like I do. If so it would seem to be a task to keep putting up the ladder to remove the webs over the camera lenses.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  3 роки тому

      Installing it high up is really dependent on what type of viewing angle you want. Obviously mounting it higher will give you a wider view of your home/yard/street. If you mount it lower, you can see faces better, and better details close to your home. Another factor is what's your comfort level in going that high to do the install (safety first). As for spider, I sometimes see a few strands of web, but then goes away after few days. I have not had to clean mine. But yes, it will be more work if you need to service it.

    Can you mix the Reolink exterior wired cameras NVR system with Reolink WiFi cameras? If so I’m sold please respond. I’m so tired of researching. I keep going back and forth between Reolink and eufy. I don’t wanna pay monthly fee or footage going to any cloud system. Only looking for 3 to 4 cameras for exterior and would love one to move around inside. Any input at this point would be greatly appreciated

    • @dial2fast

      I can only share with you my experience with adding the Reolink WiFi camera with the NVR, and is a mix bag. In the past, I was able to add a Reolink WiFi C2 Pro camera to the NVR and it worked. BTW - the C2 Pro is discontinued. I wasn't able to add a Reolink Argus Pro Wifi camera to the NVR. If there is a model you are interested, you should first reach out to Reolink and check with them the compatibility.

    I have an NVR system that had been operating 4 BULLET type cameras, quite successfully, for a few months. I wanted to do what you did, and tried to add a DOME type, just like this one. Bought the same model you mentioned, and installed it following your process - by the way, your process is better detailed than the one recommended by the Manufacturer - the camera seems to be powering just fine (the IR LEDs come on when you cover it), and the cable at the NVR side shows both blinking green and orange lights, yet nothing is showing up on the screen, or on the PC / Phone. Contacted Reolink, and after trying to sell me a Networking cleanup process, they finally sent me a replacement unit, which had an identical result - no video. Interestingly enough, when I connect a BULLET type to that same cable / location, I get picture and all - just the DOME is not reacting. Is there a special trick to making the NVR look at the DOME? I reset the DOME several times, as instructed by the Reolink folks, and am at a loss. Can you shed any light on this?

    Nice video. My only comment would be that second camera at the back, i wouldn't have installed it so high.. i would have put it below the lower eave in line with table by the spotlight, or off to one side of house pointing across the back yard to pick up the back windows and table...otherwise your back windows are not covered. I guess it depends on what you're trying to achieve...I would set up my system to cover all entry points (windows/doors), cover the road/driveway, and back yard ( minimize blindspots ), so i could see what was going around my house. And have motion sensor spotlights by windows/doors. iR is nice.. But the camera detail is so much better when that spotlight kicks in...

    If the ethernet cable isn't long enough to reach the modem I can use a normal ethernet cable ( obviously more longer than the other) or I need a particular cable?
    Last question, I don't see if you also use cable of power source for the camera?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  5 років тому

      You can use CAT5e or CAT6 cable and crimp your own RJ45 connector. The NVR supports PoE power over Ethernet so power is supplied on the same Ethernet cable. You can watch my NVR install video.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  4 роки тому

      That waterproof cover will not allow for the molded RJ45 connector to pass unless you shave the corners down to make it fit. if you crimp your own RJ45 connector, then it will fit fine.

    wow. I just learned what PoE means. Can we all just use WORDS instead of ACRONYMS? It'd make thinks so much easier and faster to accomplish. 4:13 o... m...g..... This is 2019. You would think that cameras would just transmit wireless w/o having to spend a week trying to run cables through attics and walls. I just bought this system as was just seeing what install vids there are. I don't think I can even get into my attic. The hole in the ceiling is like 18" wide.

      Wired is the best way to go, but they do make wireless cameras that work off your wifi. But you will have to have a very stable wifi setup in your home to have a chance at them being reliable.
