I never skip the pre show it’s to much fun !
This is the perfect set of commentators
Enlightening, thank you. Keep asking questions and pushing boundaries!
How Exciting!Well done, you!
Huge interest in these subjects. Thanks to all of you.
Thank you! ❤
Look at the Sami in Scandinavia. There are reindeer herding Sami and (at least there were) fishing Sami. They were all hunter gatherers. Modernly they still do those things but have no problem working in offices or doing other modern jobs as required. They are not restricted to hunter gathering because of any lack of advancement .
Love 'English Heritage' . . . way, way back in '86 they invited the re-created Loyalist 'King's Royal Regiment of New York Province' to England for a series of tactical battle shows for the public and as picturesque company in a pub afterwards' A glorious empire re-union for all. Calvary charges and bayonet marches again the several 'revolting American' regiments, also invited along together with barrages of cannon by both sides truly enthralled the crowd who showed cheering loyalty when the good guys won. and sadness at losses caused by the brave, if mis-guided rebels.
God Bless Good king George and may all his enemies be confounded - especially those among his 'friends'
Yes, our rescue greyhound tries to stick his tongue in our mouth. It’s easier to cope with since he’s had most of his teeth out. I love your show. Thank you.
Just viewed a Venus temple, standing stone and graves on one site in Southern Spain, mostly in woodland.
This episode was great fun! Thanks from the American colonies.
La Brea tar pits also has the remains of a prehistoric woman.
If you rub amber with wool or a fuzzy cloth you can build up a static electric charge
Brilliant, I hadn't thought of that! R
Or silk, that’s the one I’ve always heard of :)
Another thing amber was used for (very expensively, it would take a largish piece) is hair pins. The amber would grip as well as or better than bone, would grip better as it warmed, and depending on the resin of origin it could emit a pleasant odor as it warmed
Why was Silbury Hill constructed?
@The Prehistory Guys - do you ever cover ancient religions - from new subscriber who thinks your show is great
Hi Sean, thanks for subscribing. No, we don't really cover them in any depth, as any genuine knowledge about religions is historic rather than prehistoric. Odd snippets come up from time to time though... R
the 'kiss'. an intimate kiss. if we've been around 150k years at least, we possibly started kissing before then lol.
The first recorded kissing that still survives and they have found.
Is 2 hours 20 minutes to long? Definitely not.
Thanks for sharing again.
Stay safe 🇦🇺
Absolutely not too long!
Aahh!
Fascinating stuff 🧐 here! The debate of roads & Cities underwater, leaves no debate; (by Geo-Time-Dating); as when the Sea was this low, or lower, yet 6000 years old is just being ignorant to the actual date. Do tell us when was the Sea level at its lowest in the Mediterranean?🗿
Try sparking amber in the dark.
We all struggle with tech
Dr. Wexler has a powerful and infectious enthusiasm. And to think the UK tried to kick her out of the country five years ago 😲 My only problem with this is that it reminded me a bit of Monte Python quizzing Kark Marx about British football. Normally when you have a distinguished expert in one field you stay within that field. And throwing in so many references, and an outright promotional video of your current project, felt a bit off. But that may just be me. And she seemed to endure it all quite well 😉
Yes...At times her smile that she maintained for many minutes while being silent looked painfully forced.
@@mongue Sadly true, but I had to admire her foritude 😂
Hi, Rupert here. I think it's important to point out that Jennifer has a breadth of knowledge far wider than generally known. If you haven't seen it and you're interested, there is a full interview with her on the channel, recorded before she moved to English Heritage. The unplugged shows are specifically to show people some of the archaeological news from around the world and guests know the discussion points in advance. Michael and I particularly enjoy bringing our guests on to air a different knowledge or opinion, Jennifer is one of the best. As for showing the promo, it is how we can do what we do. None of us like advertising, but without it we wouldn't be making the films and shows that people clearly enjoy.
A few minutes of promotional material in a completely free two hour show isn't too awful is it? R
Yes it is just you! 😊
