    Good to see you had a chance to get up there and give us a break down on the system. We watched the build , deployment and testing at the time and you mentioned the system went down a while back. Time for my set up to endure the elements. Thanks

    What you are doing is fun stuff. It's to bad more people are not experimenting on communication gear like this. I am thinking about making a video on my junk as well. Right now I have a Retevis RT23 set up for crossband but it works like an inband repeater. I set up the user (UV5R's) A/B bands so they will tx/rx and switch. I never seen anybody do this and it works quite well. My set up is similar to your setup. Its been up in the mountains now for 3 years with no maintenance and is behaving perfect for now... KNOCK ON WOOD. Keep up the fun work. I think you are doing a great job with out much help. Wishes and 73, Love the grey area. It may save lives some day.

      Do you have any details on how you set that RT23 up as an inband repeater? Is it store and forward or duplex? Thanks,

    Thanks for sharing the video. I could not help, but notice. The large amount of dead and dying pine trees.
    Especially when compared to your previous videos. Man what a change in the trees. I have noticed this in other
    UA-cam videos as well. Cheers, Mate.

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому

      It is devastating. They estimate half the pine trees will die. Its going to cause a lot of havoc in the near future when these trees begin to fall.

      My research points to "Climate Engineering"
      and the chemical compounds that are being utilized. The dying trees are just one of the many Eco Systems being so profoundly affected.
      Thank you for reply. Cheers, Mate.

    I’m going to do a communication set up using GMRS radios. My group and I are gong to be covering a 200 acre area . I know for use to truly cover all the sections of property. We will need repeaters. So I was planning on making a few . Plus we use the GMRS radios during hunting season I would like to build some portable repeaters to set out before season. Those will be used just the days we hunt the public areas

    Not sure but I though I seen a dead tree to your left about 11oclock Is there a way to bracket off the tree about 6 ft up and put both solar and repeater up there? It was in full sun making it great for charge and the solar can shad the repeater.

    • @Bootyhunter1971
      @Bootyhunter1971 8 років тому

      I saw the same forked tree and was thinking the same thing. Only potential issue is with the tree already dead it will lose integrity and could fall in heavy snow and/or wind and that hike is a bitch so I would imagine he doesn't want to have to hump back up there if he can avoid it for as long as possible.

    I just have a question. I have watched your vids for some time but I was curious as to how you are able to freely walk in the woods? That may sound like a silly question but here where Im from (Texas) there are no areas free to walk or hike. Every part of this state is owned or a park. For me to just go out hiking, Id be trespassing and could get shot or arrested.

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому

      Oh wow, sorry to hear that. I figured Texas is big enough to have places to roam around freely. Many parts of California is the same way, fenced off or parks of some type. We do have many National forest & BLM land where you could go into and enjoy the out doors off the beaten path like what I like to do. Some areas are designated "wilderness" where you need a permit to stay over night. National and state forest is open to hunting, camping and other stuff provided you respect and take care of the land. I'm lucky enough to live near such a place.

  • @MmIlahg
    @MmIlahg 8 років тому

    love your vids but quick question. is 1/4 of the forest dead in a large area out there because I've noticed the forests aren't looking that great in many areas.

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому

      Yup, the elevation where pine grows is decimated. It was a freak occurrence to see one dead tree in a sea of green just 2 years ago. its a changed landscape now. Thanks for watching.

      +GUERRILLACOMM some would speculate aerial geoengenieering is the culprit. look at geoengenieering watch on YT he lives in Shasta area. he has been a vocal advocate. one a side note getting all the parts together to test and deploy that simplex repeater. no mountains here unfortunately. used to live by mount Diablo dam i cant help thinking how perfect that would be. might ask a few questions in the process if you dont mind. oh and you pan to much...lol what a human turd.

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому

      I know, I know.. Got a lot of flack for the panning. lol. Thanks for watching.

  • @n9eerptr
    @n9eerptr 7 років тому

    I think might consider mounting all this on side of a tree like at 5 ft...get out of the grass, panel more exposed, maybe a 2nd panel to provide Sun coverage one to east and one to west. Yes 5000 ft can get one a lot. but as with simplex repeaters they have very limited uses especially if needed in real SHIT where there would be lots of traffic.

    Could you put the solar panel in a tree and hide it that way while still getting maximum sun?

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому +1

      I could but looks like the canopy will cover it up anyways. Going to haul a metal tripod next go-around. Just need enough height to be above the snow line. Thinking of camo netting underneath to shade the box.

    • @inthenameofjustice8811
      @inthenameofjustice8811 8 років тому

      GUERRILLACOMM
      Yeah that will work. For the tree I had some pruning in mind. A hole in the canopy. Probably not PC but who the hell is ever going to know and when did trees become sacred anyway? :o)
      To be honest, I am stunned this lasted as long as it did. I originally thought 6 months to maybe a year on the very outside. Once again the simple ideas prevail.
      You could put a small windmill up a tree as a back up. What would be great would be some way of braking and un-braking the blades remotely by radio to allow it to be switched on and off at will and thereby avoid destruction in high winds.
      I think I shall shut up now, I have started to drift off into fantasy land.
      Looking forwards to part two.

    • @GUERRILLACOMM
      @GUERRILLACOMM  8 років тому +1

      I hear ya, all good ideas. I really don't want to disturb nature, its not worth doing any pruning and landscaping for my personal gain, " leave no trace". besides my equipment has no environmental impact. I could work around it. The whole idea of this exercise is to see what is the minimum requirement for a self supporting comm system incognito. Don't want to make frequent trips out there except for the yearly maintenance. It kind of goes under the premise of, "Technically sound, Tactfully stupid." Its a fine line to balance, I think must me mastered to really get yourself a robust system in place.

    Try a flexible solar panel wrapped around the trunk of a tree off the ground facing the equator, like a powerfilm R7 (need several to match your current 20Watt panel). Also, you could try putting your radio and repeater in a painted PVC pipe. It could look like a tree branch if handled properly.
    Exposed circuit boards and unprotected terminals (like on the battery) are a great way to short out a system. Spend extra time making sure that nothing metal can short any point of your system out (overkill is best here, especially if unattended for any lenght of time) - bare PCBs are bad, but conformal coating spray paints are available for cheap (and will keep the board from corroding). Take a look at www.amazon.com/MG-Chemicals-Silicone-Conformal-Coating/dp/B008O9YGQI
    For off-the shelf commercial radio protection, take a look at mylar vacuum bagging. If you flatten out and space the wires in a cable, you can actually heat seal them in a seal without hurting them.

    Please don't pan the video - it's unwatchable. Good call on the physical fitness. Batt float voltage is more important than panel voltage. MPPT converters fix a lot of badness. Use AGM batteries. Plan power consumption for emergencies - not system failure under no load. Keep making videos that help people, thank you, de some ZL1 fella.
