Amazing video Jack. Your number one choice (no spoilers, watch through the entire thing) makes so much sense given your journey as both a person and an entertainer. More and more you've found your voice and made better art because of it. These past two videos you've put out are especially a testament to that which I, and many others, are eager to watch as they continue. Keep it up and much love!

I’ve been curious about Perfect Blue and Paprika for a while but haven’t watched yet. But I will probably watch then in 2025. Didn’t know about the other though, so thank you for putting me on!

Just watched it last night… I was starting to think I would never watch a good zombie movie - I was wrong. Wow… I need to make a video on this for sure.

That’s a superb list of films for 1st watches. All the Ghibli films are great but Grave Of The Fireflies is not a fun watch.

Nice video. Personally I really dont like Barbie. I obviously agree that women are facing many problems and fd up things the same way that men are going through different struggles… my problem with Barbie is how extreme and how it present society. I get that the “looking down on men” was a mirror to try to show how women are presented in media but it is not the same as making the men in your movie the dumbest and making the plot about how the world of Barbie is better when they are second class.
I think that women deserve equal treatment as men and I think that there are many problems in our society that we should fix but Barbie is just stupid and it isn’t feminist rather a 2 hour long surface level grumbling with no deep political statement that would just raise the hate on both sides and won’t do anything good. Truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched. Btw the director of this made another film called “lady bird” which is an actually good feminist film that present the struggles of teenage women in a much more genuine way without looking down on men and being so hateful and angry.
And fact check: I’m not aware of any systematic discrimination between men and women in the USA.. paying women and men different for same job and same hours is illegal in every state. We have problems but using the word systematic is not really fair when you live in one of the only countries where systematically speaking men and women are equal.

I see your points. But what you gotta remember is that the movie is still suppose to be a comedy and if certain things aren’t exaggerated it would be boring. This isn’t an experimental film, it was very mainstream since it’s connected to such a big brand. Frankly I’m shocked they even tried to say anything at all. Also I think “the world of Barbie being better because men are second” is once again to show how our society is but the opposite.
Women are indeed treated differently in the US systematically. There have been loads of studies done on this topic. And I’ve also heard and seen many accounts from the women in my life as well. I would urge you to look further. I just want to make it clear, since context can be lost through text, that this is not an attack against you. I’m not saying the US is the worst country for women. But they are treated unfairly over men in many cases. This includes wages. You see, yes it’s “illegal” but getting caught is unlikely since many companies ban talking about what you get paid. Hollywood itself is a huge example. Actresses who have equal or even bigger names than their costars getting paid less. And if it’s a problem with famous people, it’s definitely a problem on the ground too. And even if the companies do get caught, many can just pay the fees and win the lawsuits. Saying you haven’t noticed systematic prejudice may be because you’re a man yourself, I assume. I apologize if I’m wrong. I didn’t get it either for some time until diving deeper into the issues to understand the divide between men and women.
Also btw, I love Lady Bird. And I agree, that film got its point across better.
I don’t want this to be an argument, just a friendly discussion. Have a good day!

@@jackbrunot ofc everything is in good spirit! i understand your point about it being a comedy and trying to exaggerate everything, but if you gonna rewatch barbie look how little amount of actual jokes are in that thing. also when most of the people who watched barbie are little girls you cant really expect every single one of them to understand that this is not really the intention of the film and that it is humorous.. i dont think i would get it when i was a little child if they showed me a movie about how stupid and mean and empty women are, since this is like 75% of barbies runtime..
also im not from usa so my english isnt pefect. when i said "systematically" i meant by the states. yes i agree that many firms do not treat women right at all and i truly think its hideous. so yes we both agree on that one(:
