There are a lot of people like me. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who think trump is the ultimate leader. I don't understand how anyone could see him and make that decision. Unless they are full of the same hatred as trump. I don't see any other reason to support him. Hopefully, there are enough people like me to save our democracy
Poor white guy from Missouri here. Me and my friends and family saw him for who he was when he was making racist lies about Obama. This man is extremely dangerous! Trump has given permission for far too many Americans to be their worst, to lean into their bigotry, xenophobia, their racism and hatred for the LGBTQ+ community. Too many Americans believe trump’s ridiculous lies and now view their fellow Americans as enemies that need to be “taken care of “. Trump and his cult have destroyed so many lives, families, friendships and he got a million Americans killed by his utterly inept handling of the COVID pandemic. If trump wins or cheats his way into the white house by republicans chicanery or Supreme Court bias the country will never be the same. Trump is an existential threat to America, democracy and the American people. I will crawl through broken glass to vote against him!

@beefandbarley and that is why these "conversations" have reached the point of vapidity. They never include the rest of us, or what we might do. Folks like Hasan serve a valuable purpose by continuing to shine a light on the dangers facing the country, but they seem loathe to discuss how dangerous the resistance will be. We definitely won't be going back. Not including THAT in these discussions, is a serious miscalculation in terms of the outcome of such a conflict. I don’t think he should go to prison, but he definitely should have been removed from his position long ago when it was obvious that he was slow walking the investigation and charges that it was obvious that Trump and his acolytes should have had. All of this may have been avoided if the present charges had been brought and adjudicated 2 years ago. He has dragged his feet way too long on all things pertaining to Trump’s crimes. This has not changed since Athen started the democracy project 2.5k years ago! The three pillars of democracy are that the citizen must always be strongest class to keep the aristocrats in check to prevent a oligarchy and to alleviate the plight of the poor to prevent a tyranny. The citizens must be well informed and the citizen must be engaged in the affairs of the state. Nothing has changed. Democracy is class struggle per definition! The rich want to take your rights, either as oligarchy or tyranny and "welfare" are not hand outs! They never were in a democracy! Its literally self preservation so that those who dont have much cant be abused/misused and have a real chance to better their situation. In the US of today the citizens are not the strongest class anymore, we already have an oligarchy while the demagogues are knocking at the door and until these issues are not properly addressed things wont get any better. Lets wait and see how long the silly buggers game of ignorance will continue! Or why do you think FDR implemented the social safety net and put heavy taxes on the rich in the first place? Or to put it differently, why do you think that since St. Reagan every Republican administration is hell bent on dismantling the social safety net and reducing the taxes on the rich and cooperations?

The devil and dragon remain on Earth -- and their judgement is set for 10/10/26. They intend to absolve themselves, by proving mankind unfit for God's kingdom with a worldwide nuclear war. Surely, the Ancient of Days will judge Man at fault. Or Jesus. Not Me." (for the believers: 2 Peter 3: 8 Matthew 5: 44-48 Revelation 12: 12-13 ) The devil is delusional -- Daniel 7: 9-14. When the reigning rhetoric is "only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad buy with a gun" it comes down to who you personally believe the good guys and bad guys are. If both sides believe they are the good guys and everyone has guns in a country with no significant gun laws you can only expect violence. It becomes inevitable.

One important component, as a veteran (officer) myself, is the military. Please look at the oath officers in the US military (in this case, Army) take: I (state your full name), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of Second Lieutenant, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God. As General Milley said (I paraphrase), we take our oath to defend the Constitution of the United States, not to a dictator or a wannabe dictator. Further, in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, that is much stricter than civilian law, and that many people don’t know about. It gives penalties, for instance, if you don’t follow a lawful order. This is necessary in a battlefield situation, of course, where you may be charged with desertion or worse. However, the key word, is LAWFUL. If any military officer follows an illegal order (i.e., unconstitutional order), they are bound by their oath NOT to follow it. If there was a big rift in the military, those that broke their oath (assuming order holds) would find themselves under court-martial with severe penalties. It would be good to have a follow up discussion about this, as what Trump will do with the military if he is elected assumes the military will follow unconstitutional orders. Thanks for being a true journalist!
The UNITED STATES MILITARY will indeed REMAIN FAITHFUL to the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION have NO Fear . Their OATH to DEFEND is UNDENIABLE and Steadfast . NO dictator can or will ever change it .
It would look like about 12 hours before they'd decide they miss McDonalds and their phones. They'd go home crying that the battlefield is so cold, and you cant even drink beer

Very good, but the connecting piece is Trump. One more political defeat and then some sentences served. It should set MAGA back a little, and give us a chance to build and update FDR, LBJ, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
@@eric2500 I think MAGA will be set back a lot when Trump dies, because his ego doesn't accept that there can be a successor. The movement will turn back to its pre-2016 form: State's rights, neo-Confederacy, Secessionism, militias, refusing to obey Washington. Little Trumps will try to build power by becoming governors, but that won't work because the whole point of MAGA in 2016 was rejecting right-wing governors who had not used their terms of office to kill or jail the Enemy. They won't be able to unify around a single new Fuhrer that way, so they will pool into secessionist pockets, very dangerous ones.

One important component, as a veteran (officer) myself, is the military. Please look at the oath officers in the US military (in this case, Army) take:
I (state your full name), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of Second Lieutenant, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

This is ALL Garland's fault! As a country, we shouldn't have had to go thru any of this. I just can't understand why he didn't act.
Actually it's bill barr's fault.
Cowardice. He didn't want to upset the elites.
I live in a red area in the NC mountains. I’ve been told to make sure my guns are cleaned and loaded should someone come up my driveway to do harm after the election. That’s pretty damn clear. I think there might be fighting in neighborhoods.
I lived overseas in three SE Asian countries. Saw the coup in Manila against Aquinas’ government. Viewed the pictures in Phnom Penh of Pol Pats victims. Returned home in 93. During Trump’s term I told my husband he was preparing a coup if he lost. It was a failed coup. Could it happen again? Count on it !

This is a convergence of people descended from the losing side of the civil war aligning themselves with the business class angry over FDR's new deal. So in essence, the dominant ethno religious demographic doesn't want to lose power and the business class doesn't want to pay more money to more groups other then to the dominant ethno religious demographic.
Precisely. There's a throughline all the way from John C. Calhoun right through Nixon, Reagan, the Tea Party and into Trumpism. I blame Merrick Garland for allowing the present Confederate situation, but ultimately, Andrew Johnson done goofed with his administration's lenient approach to reintegrating the South.

When this happens i blame garland and the crackpot supreme Court absolutely immunity my ass !!!!!!
How about the master mind Lenard Leo behind the vision of the Federalist Society? You need to dig deeper.
Garland has been in on it ever since he was floated as a SCOTUS Justice.
He STILL has a GLOWING profile up on The Federalist Society website.

THIS SHOW HAS HAD BETTER INSIGHTS- naivete? seriously? if it was in any other country, we would mock it and call it a banana republic. four years since jan 6 and then the committee's presentation with overwhelming evidence (as if the live coverage wasn't enough) and there have been no consequences for the instigators. the only people that went to jail were the rioters- which of course - reinforced the frustration and angst of the average person versus the wealthy one and that there is no justice, the system is rigged, rich are untouchable, there's no middle class, hate hate hate- that the program touched upon at the start. and then to say that the DOJ didn't act because it was afraid of being accused of 'weaponizing?' as if actual weaponizing militia onto the capital is not worse than being called a name. and why does the DOJ care if they are being called a weapon of the state? none of this makes sense to me. couldn't a police officer go to the white house and arrest the president for instigating a mob and demanding the interruption of congress and threatening the life of the vice president? aren't there laws in place to justify an initial arrest? it took four years and the closest they got was an election fraud case that was more of a tabloid scandal and a civil case law suit that added to his campaign bravado? forget it, they had at least 60 years to pin something on this fraudster and nothing stuck. shouldn't we be more outraged at ourselves than at MAGA? i feel like I'm in the "harry potter" series where the ministry of magic was slowly taken over. first came nagiri, then the dementors, then came dolores umbridge as "he who won't be named" crept on in. is anyone even listening? put on your special underpants, the way PA is set up we won't have an election result until January with all the lawsuits and noise.... all the way to SCOTUS... this isn't naivete. it's somewhere between cowardice and ignorance.
100% agree!
Absolutely. The fact that this is even our collective reality having to deal with this is ludicrous, absurd, and unacceptable.
100 percent, it's hard to put into words how this is happening, pathological liar and conman are a fact, the rest is just in the realms of madness.
In a long career with the United Nations, I worked in numerous ‘civil wars’(Sudan, Somalia, Syria, East Timor, Sri Lanka…). I started out, saying, “This could never happen in the US”. As the years passed, and America changed, I got to saying, “I hope this can never happen in the US.” By the end of my time going off to foreign wars, I found myself saying, “I see the signs of civil war in my country.” The level of complacency/denial…’It can’t happen here’ in the United States is alarming. IT CAN…I’ve witnessed it first hand too many times to pretend otherwise.
