I see a lot of people commenting on how he fits the character. He's from Texas so obviously he does. What is overlooked is the setting and narrative of the movie. It was perfect. The boat house being destroyed by the state. That is spot on. If they are unoccupied or abandoned they destroy them for river safety. Selling catfish out of the back of a truck. It happens in Arkansas. Beautiful story all together im just surprised they got the story so location accurate
Really enjoyed this movie, It's has elements of 'Whistle down the wind' and 'Stand by me'. Matthew really hit the mark with his character, Mud. The child actors also give very good performances.
This movie has really opened me up to the concept of love. I recently went through heartbreak and this movie helped. Don't chase love, let it come to you. I chased a girl for about two years and she ended up being a hoe who slept around. I should've trusted my gut. That would have never gone anywhere. Stay safe everybody. If theres doubt in something, let it be known. Don't hide away forever.
This was filmed in November. Got back to our camp in crocketts bluff and they were filming it, parked all over town. We watched the night scene being filmed on the white river.
I remember when they where shooting some scenes for this movie they where practically in my back yard and I remember seeing it for the first time and it’s since been one of my favorite movies
I think the awesome kid, Jacob Lofland motto is "If you wanna act, don't put on an act" that's it. That's how you nail reaching out to peoples hearts. A man with identity indeed, Ryan. A natural, yes. " (good actors) create an identity that might not be there (in scripts)". 👌🏻👌🏻 I liked that quote. So true.
"Mud" Such a underrated and unrecognised movie. It's like a cross between "stand by me" and the "Leon/ The Professional"
***** I agree! :D
If only this movie went to international, it will be successfull
Well said, I agree
I agree and better than both...
Also a "Tinge" of Great Expectations
this movie is so beautiful, it does not talk about love like movies always do. It's so fresh, and new, and honest. I loved it!
One of his best performances in his career , didn't expect this really. His voice fits perfectly to the character
This was a surprisingly fantastic movie. Wasn't sure I'd like it at first glance, but I watched a few times actually and enjoyed it immensely ❤
A very serious actor and a very respectful person in his job.
'Mud,' is a terrific movie. Jeff Nichols shows some serious creative talents.
One of my all time favorite movies. A masterpiece.
So beautiful movie .. shows love in a way rarely shown in movies .. pure emotion of all kind .. Mud was great and the tow boys.

He's a great guy.

well worth it great cast
I love type he's a really good actor
wonderful thoughts on the south--having lived in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama, I say the guy understands what he's talking about

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY RULES !!!!!!!!
I have a problem with doubting his roles in movies and then i seen this one and it gave me some hope...rather enjoyd it
I love this movie.
6:23 what does he mean by "throws it over his shoulder"???
Matthew looked so different before he lost all the weight for that weird movie. He was never the same after that
very good movie.....I like the characters....
great for a positive look for men in general. we dont have to be disposable to the "rights" of women
I really enjoyed Mud. 8/10
Very interesting, thank you
💜
This could have been a t.v. show...
If you d/l a movie...free...but it's so good you feel like throwing 5 bucks to someone out of guilt for the download, where would you send it? >;)=
Tye
True
moral of the story of mud. cant trust love.
"Well that's just not true. You're a good man Ellis. You find a woman half as good as you, and you'll be alright..."
